Did you guys get an influence update moments ago? Asking people from other systems. Manually processed again or is the system finally fixed?

Definitely not fully fixed. One of the bugs Mr. Brookes mentioned was influence was going to the wrong system. Two of the missions I performed involved getting resources to HR 7327 for Dukes of Mikunn (wine and algae). I got these both from Pauahtun, brought them to HR 7327. Influence went to Dukes of Mikunn as expected (unknown if at HR 7327 or Mikunn) but also went to a Sakua faction, which isn't in HR 7327 nor Pauahtun, but in the neighboring system of Sakua.

Interestingly, I also did a mission that increased BOTH Economic Boom and Economic Bust. Those are usually opposite.

Take a picture when you see something weird like that. FD may appreciate that bug report.

> I have a screen shot, but since they know about the problem, I'm not sure they need any more info. Guess I can ticket it.

They're already aware of the bugs in this area of the game though, I'd suggest avoiding tickets since they have so many to deal with. Just put the screenshot in here... it's entirely on topic.

Lots of good info in this thread, but I still have a couple of question I don't think have been answered yet.

Is it possible for faction to expand into a system which already has 5 factions (seems to be the maximum)?
Is it possible to influence a system's population (increase or decrease it) by triggering certain states (boom/bust/famine...)?

The description of civil unrest is interesting, does that mean it could cause a faction to change government type?

The pop thing we will certainly find out. We have a boom critical in pending.... come over to Mikunn and help us find out ;p

I have already triggered a BOOM in another sector and didn't notice population change (unless it happens when the boom ends)

Did the last update fix influence gain from trading?
I have been trading millions with a faction that was just sitting at 1% influence for weeks, and now they are at over 40% with a civil war pending.

There was a bug where the results of missions weren't calculated for certain systems. The recent patch fixed it and now several systems had weeks of work calculated in a day which resulted in huge influence changes. I bet your system was one of the above.

1) I've seen systems with 6 factions. I don't think there is really a max number of factions per system (or is higher).
2) I don't know for certain the answer to the second question, but it seems demographic dynamics are not in place yet, any change would have to be a change to "physical resources" as Michael puts it (which is a change to database/local files in the server entries in terms everybody will understand) and done manually.

Its easier to influence small population systems with no other player traffic, theres lots of small scale experiements, the bigger a system gets the less influence one player will have, youll need to organise a group :)

This devs said in this thread population doesnt play a role in difficulty.

What he said is that population indirectly affects some parameters. How wouldn't it? Wouldn't make any sense otherwise.

How much that increases difficulty, we don't really know.

Ollo is talking about influence, and Micheal Brookes said population played no role in difficulty in regard to influence. I'm sure it affects some parameters like the amount of a certain good produced, but that doesn't affect the difficulty as much as it affects what is available to do.

Hence it indirectly affects influence, it affects the wealth a faction has to throw ships at you, missions, etc. It would be very disappointing is as easy to influence a 10 bill population system as a 1000 population system, I really hope is not the case.

Well with that logic it would be easier to affect a larger system because it would have more trade goods. I expect that the difference is negligible though and that pop only affects things through minor gameplay mechanics.

Update: it seems trade influence is only applied once a day.
Yesthurday I did about 60mil trade profit and the influence didn't move. but today around about Noon UTC it jumped to 60%.
I'm pretty much the only one traveling in that system and population is in the billions.

Guys, you know what else makes me confuse and little mad...
When I'm doing missions for Crimson Dragons in the system where they expended to (Exphiay)...and after checking USS i'm offered ALT. mission, many times Crimson Dragons from home system (Canopus) offers me to works against Crimson Dragons in expanded system.

This is so unlogical and they should change that. It is the same faction god damn it. :p
Have you notice that in Mikunn experiment?

So you are in Canopus. I have not noticed anything like this. Could you screen shot how they are offering missions against your own faction?
