Newcomer / Intro Mining Fleet, is it possible?

Is it possible and sensible to build a mining fleet with a carrier ship? I mean, like a T9 with full cargo rack and a collector limpet controller. All other little ships can do mining, collect ores and eject them periodically than carrier can collect them with limpets. When they return to station, carrier can give them back near the station.

I'm just asking that is it possible/sensible to build a mining fleet in my dream which has two fighter to protect others, one carrier and all others are small miners.

You can only pilot one ship at a time. Unless you have a second PC, second account and second pair of hands.

But you can surely mine with friends, if you want. Mining in wing can be fun and profitable.

With squadrons, coming in the Q4 update later this year, groups of players will be able to buy and use fleet carriers. If you pal up with a few mates or join a larger group (we don't know how much they'll cost yet) you could all go mining together. Unfortunately NPCs can't fly your ships for you, and I doubt this will be coming even in future updates.

Having said that...the NPC's can fly your SLFs so it might not be too much of a stretch to have an NPC fly one of your main ships...but yeah, from a gameplay perspective I don't see it happening ever...too many "NPC killed my quadrillion dollar-pound engineered Guardian equipped Sidewinder by flying it straight into Asteroid/Star/Planet/Ship/Scooby-Doo" rants.
