Mining is becoming a joke

In what system you are mining ? Maybe its related with security level..

In 2.1.04 i probably had pirates one time all other times police ships only..

No it doesn't.

BREEEEEEEEEEEHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!
They are doing it again!! :(

I'm still waiting to hear how an implementation feature is not by design and not a bug. I feel my thirty years experience of software development is about to be blessed with the greatest revelation ever any moment now.

Btw.

One can always (in any Ship of course) test the spawn logic and benchmark it anytime.
Head into any location, witness the spawn. Technically, those could have come from your Low-Wake left behind - at least in inhabited Systems.

Then simply log out to Menu and log back in.
Spawn logic kicks right back in from scratch - and reveals itself in its true nature ;)

That's one of the killers for slow Mining Rigs, i.e. losing Server connection or actually taking a break. Upon logging back in, the place will quickly be populated with whatever Scenario the RNG picks out of its small list of Options.

Yeah, I remember my project manager yelling 'By Design' down the hallway. Ah the good old days.
Anyways, Waterfall modeling is sooo pre 2000, Agile is the way to go nowadays. Do keep up!

Agile? So where's our regular monthly sprint meeting with Frontier Developements?

Also, working with a specification does not imply waterfall. One of the best projects I worked on used a flexible Agile-based sprint approach founded upon a small encyclopaedia of specifications which went through their own Agile-based process with the stakeholders before coming our way.

I dread to think how on earth any large project can be implemented without a specification. At some point, the coder needs to know what to actually code. I'm somewhat amused you think Agile means no specification.

Of course this specific spawn mechanic is killing the game.

In all fairness, if I'm out 8000+ Light years in the middle of nowhere, I definitely could see an Annie "jumping in" to terrorise me whilst I mine OR an AspX, as this Annie or AspX would have the capability to get there. (Insert other capable ship)

Everything else is just stupid. World of Warcraft isn't this broken...In regards to a mechanic of this nature.

Needs to get looked at again...properly. Realistically.

I've been mining at Jaques for at least a couple of weeks, and the only NPC pirates I've seen were in a RES when I bought a Viper and went bounty hunting for a change. Back in my Python now with loads of mats & engineering stuff, mining osmium, platinum & painite without a hitch.

Jaques is the only place because there is no AI presence because there is no bubble. Once they make a new bubblez it will be. Also how about not having to fly fracking 22KLY to do some peaceful mining    !

really so all mining is broken because YOU had a problem and others dont ??

This has been complained about since the update in June. FRONTIER hasn't done jack about it, kinda like a lot of stuff. Lets not frame it as a problme "others don't have" when in fact the others who don't have it", simply don't go mining. As evidence by both David Braben's own admission that players don't deviate from what they know how to skillfully do in the game, and based on the mining CG's the majority do not mine, or the MINING CGs would have had a lot more participation with much higher daily haul rates.

I just tried mining for the first time yesterday because I needed it for engineers.

Nearly died. Nothing mined. Decided to go back to something else.

Even in a fully rated combat ship I don't dare have anything in my cargo hold. I can trade (submit and jump); but I can't stay in a spot with cargo or I will quickly end up with 4-5 pirates attacking me.

Where are you people finding all these pirates? or are you stealing mine. I mined for hours, logged out, came back, mined some more, didn't see a single pirate, not one. Then again, I mine in a conda.
