General Multicrew is an unfinished mechanic that needs to be reworked!

I was.. like many other seriously disappointed with multicrew.. Such an amazing feature just utterly wasted.

I know everyone is distracted with Odyssey and yes I too am looking forward to walking on planets.. but I would really love to see a dev diary just talking about the broken stuff we have now and how it will be improved in odyssey.

I would like a dev diary attempting to explain how it's an acceptable practice for so many features of the game can go unfinished for so many years

Could it be their unique engine? From the outside it seems that fixing some mechanics is very simple, but in reality it may turn out differently. For example, why can't we get up from the chair? The X-series has such an opportunity and seems to work without problems. Elite doesn't have this, although players have been asking for it for a long time, but Frontiers don't even say why they didn't make this mechanic. In general, Frontiers clearly have problems with interacting with the community.

They are expanding multicrew functionality in odyssey to be able to stay in a crew while on foot/srv/helm if i understand some of the Q A properly
MCs main problem is players. There is so much crew could add.to the game from the perspective of a CMDR and indeed it is nonsense that these big ships are all empty.
The problem is what makes sense for crew from a CMDRs perspective does not necessarily make sense from the crew persons perspective. Crew may be vital for 10% of the time but for the rest it may be boring. Gamers need to be entertained most of the time, however NPCs dont

Whilst I would have no problem with an expanded multiplayer MC the 1st thing FD should do is implement npcs.

FD laid out a great crew mechanic back in the DDF and that is what they should go back to. The player part should be the icing on the cake to dip in now and then, that way it does not matter so much if it is a little lacking but it should not be the cake itself.

I have a question - if I have a crew member actually on board my ship (rather than just holome), will they also get their name on the first discovery and map tags? It always bothered me that wings share discover tags but multi-crew members do not.

Having them physically on board should also stop the dumb "I see your eyeballs!" hologram fade we get every single time I engage the FSD.

They already have, except that they instead added them in as a completely parallel mechanic rather than making both player crew and NPC crew part of the same mechanic. NPC crew are also somehow even more abandoned and unfinished than player crew, as at least player crew has the option to function as a gunner and unlocks the use of the experimental turrets.

Yeah I am always for them fixing/improving multicrew, I always open my ships up for mates to fly my fighters and when it works, they always have a hell of a time zipping around, when it doesn't though, it is just a massive slog of connection issues that make no sense or just a sheer lack of options for the helm and things for crewmates to see from their seats.
