Wow!! That was both frightening and amazing! Great job!
Thanks for this. I knew the list was somewhere. Just forgot about Coriolis, in fact, I'd underestimating what it was showing me.My suggestion for a starter Hauler on coriolis link below.
It has a 3C fuel scoop, but you do have enough credits for a 3B. The 3A fuel scoop all by itself is, wait for it, 902,950 credits. The enitre Hauler with a 3B fuel scoop comes to under 750,000 credits including insurance/rebuy.

Edit: I left a size 3 internal slot empty so you can put an SRV plus SRV (bought separately) in there, but you might want to wait until you are in a DBX or ASPX before getting into SRVs as the added weight really kills the jump range on the little Hauler.
There is only one small hardpoint for a weapon, so not even worth fitting one.
Thanks for this. I'll combine it with Quain's.I'd start out by D-rating most stuff, except the Frameshift Drive. Then you'd have a ship capable of 30LY jumps and have a decent amount of cargo space for missions, etc.
Something like this:

I depends a bit on what you want to do, and what your finances are. And how much trouble you want to go to, to get the various modules
Could add a fuel scoop if you want to get fuel that way.
Very nice!Riding the World of Death
Sorry, this has generated more questions. That's why I'm looking for a text. You go to outfitting, strip all the modules you want to transfer to the Hauler.
Buy the new Hauler, select to keep your Sidey or not.
Go to outfitting again, select transfer to pick up these modules, and buy the others.
If you never bought any new "Core Internal" modules (e.g. Power Plant, FSD) for the Sidewinder, and no optional internals such as a shield, cargo racks, there will be nothing in the Sidewinder you can transfer to the Hauler. The game will not let you leave a ship in an unflyable state, so if had bought say an expensive 2A Frameshift Drive for the Sidewinder which will also fit in the Hauler and you wanted to transfer it to the Hauler you are now sitting in, you would do this:Sorry, this has generated more questions. That's why I'm looking for a text. However ......
(1) Is that the "outfitting" in the Sidewinder ? (Your first line).
(2) Do you mean "select" when you say "strip" ?
I've already bought my Hauler and selected to keep my Sidewinder.
I'm sitting in the Hauler right now, in her hanger.
(3) Does this change anything ?
(4) Why do you suggest "stripping" modules before you buy the Hauler ?
In fact, I can't do that.
I've already bought my Hauler.
I saw this as more appropriate: I need a new ship before I decide what to "strip".
It might already have it.
Thank you.
Ha! This is what I was trying to avoid !If you never bought any new "Core Internal" modules (e.g. Power Plant, FSD) for the Sidewinder, and no optional internals such as a shield, cargo racks, there will be nothing in the Sidewinder you can transfer to the Hauler. The game will not let you leave a ship in an unflyable state, so if had bought say an expensive 2A Frameshift Drive for the Sidewinder which will also fit in the Hauler and you wanted to transfer it to the Hauler you are now sitting in, you would do this:
Go to the Shipyard, Stored Ships tab. Use the left and right arrows to cycle through the ships you have stored here to get to the Sidewinder - OK you only have one ship so the Sidewinder will be there.
Click the STORAGE OPTIONS button bottom right of the screen under the ship details.
Click USE THIS SHIP
Wait a short while as you get into the Sidewinder then go to OUTFITTING
In the OUTFITTING screen, click CORE INTERNAL and a list of the ship's core internal modules is show
Click on the 2A Frameshift Drive and a panel pops up. At the bottom of the panel click the STORE button
A panel pops up informing you that you have selected to store a core module that requires a replacement. Click STORE and a 2E Frameshift Drive will automatically be purchased and put into the Sidewinder and the 2A Frameshift Drive will now be in storage at this station.
The process for putting an Optional Internal Module, Weapon or Utility mount is the same except you are not required to purchase a replacement E rated module.
Now you can go back to the Shipyard and repeat the process written earlier to USE THIS SHIP and get back into the Hauler and go to OUTFITTING again.
Click CORE INTERNAL, then click on Frameshift Drive and a panel pops up. There are several buttons, BROWSE SHOP is what you use to buy a new Frameshift Drive which will show you a list of Frameshift Drives to buy. When buying a new one, select the 2A module and click BUYING OPTIONS. You have the option to EXCHANGE (sell the existing 2E Frameshift Drive) or STORE the existing 2E Frameshift drive. Pick EXCHANGE because there is no reason to keep the 2E Frameshift Drive. That's it purchase complete. Do the same for the other CORE INTERNALS you need to buy, where everything else in CORE INTERNALS for this Hauler build should be a D rated module as these are always the lightest weight helping you get the highest possible jump range.
If you were transfering a 2A Frameshift Drive from storage into the Hauler, there would be a TRANSFER button on the panel underneath BROWSE SHOP and you would see the 2A Frameshift Drive listed as a stored module. I don't think you will even see the TRANSFER button because you don't have anything in storage at this station.
Later on when you buy a DBX, you will find most of what is in the Hauler is of no use to the DBX as it uses larger modules. One exception will be the Optional Internal Module Detailed Surface Scanner (DSS) costing 250,000 credits which you need to map valuable planets like Earth Like Worlds and Water Worlds to earn credits when you sell the exploration data to Universal Cartographics in space stations. You can and should transfer that into storage when you are at the station where you will buy the DBX, ideally before buying the DBX so you don't have to keep changing between ships which answers your "(4) Why do you suggest "stripping" modules before you buy the Hauler ?" question - its for convenience.
Lastly, don't worry about having the credits to buy all the Hauler parts - you said you had 750,000 credits and the Coriolis build sheet https://coriolis.io/outfit/hauler?code=A0p3t3F0l3d3s3f2-02-2v-3u3w242i.AwRj4lXI.AwiMItOI..EweloBhAWEoUwIYHMA28QgIwV3fEQA==&bn=Starter Hauler
tells me you need 538,918 to buy the Hauler and all modules plus 26,949 credits to keep in reserve in case you need to do a rebuy. You have plenty of credits. Most of us here have relied on the Coriolis prices to buy ships up to and maybe beyond the 1.2 billion mark - that's how much an optimally fitted Imperial Cutter or Federal Corvette will cost you. My most expensive ship was the Anaconda at less than 400,000,000 credits. I can't afford a Cutter yet, but it's on the to do list for later - I did spend time earning the reputation to get the rank of Duke in the Imperial Navy. It took hours and hours to do all the data courier deliveries for that one.
Except for the Auto Docking Module ..... ?If you never bought any new "Core Internal" modules (e.g. Power Plant, FSD) for the Sidewinder, and no optional internals such as a shield, cargo racks, there will be nothing in the Sidewinder you can transfer to the Hauler.
You should be abe to select 'custom' preset from the list, which should have the last Horizons binds you saved. But when I log into Horizons the game loses my key bindings
You're right, you could store the auto docking module while in the Sidewinder, switch the the Hauler and then transfer it into one of the Hauler's size 1 optional internal slots.Except for the Auto Docking Module ..... ?
That's very generous and much appreciated.I don't mind helping, in fact I enjoy it. This game has a lot to it
I promise I'll write up something on Outfitting in a bit, once I get my day started. It's just a bit of a bother to set things up so I can do screenshots and explanations, because the outfitting UI has changed dramatically in Odyssey (so I can't use any Odyssey screenshots, I have to log into Horizons). But when I log into Horizons the game loses my key bindings (a bug), so I just have to prepare for that before doing it.
I'll get to it in a bit!
I sometimes think there's just a small number of regulars here at this thread. You should be abe to select 'custom' preset from the list, which should have the last Horizons binds you saved.
If the Custom.3.0.binds file is present in your Bindings folder, that is.
Just remember, it's the broad-brush approach we need. Well, that's what I think. That's very generous and much appreciated.
However, I will be looking at the Outfitting Videos. It will make anything you prepare easier to follow.
That's said without any reflection on you, more on my stupidity.
If you do write something, why not write it with a bigger audience in mind. Maybe draw on what Quain has written in post #631 (that I've still yet to read).
Maybe there is little out there in the written word (I also came up empty looking at the ED Manuals) in regard to 'How to Undertaking Outfitting'.
I emphasize, maybe.
Just a thought.
A broad brush approach is what I was trying for with post #631 https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/my-return-to-ed.589306/page-32#post-9532509Just remember, it's the broad-brush approach we need. Well, that's what I think.I don't need specifics on mounting or transferring each individual module.

No. Sorry, I haven't. But I'm pleased to hear it.A broad brush approach is what I was trying for with post #631 https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/my-return-to-ed.589306/page-32#post-9532509
Not sure if you have read it yet.
