Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

Although I'm sure it will change for me.
Eventually it probably will.

Bear in mind that I've played well over 4000 hours. I have done most activities the game offers, and it's impossible for me to return to being a newcomer, so of course I play a bit differently. Then again, I'm sure I play differently than other long-time CMDRs as well. There's a lot of personal choice in this game.

It's all part of the journey, and each of us has their own personal journey to take in this game. Pretty cool, if you ask me.

I'm doing a site seeing mission. something about 'boosting fed. fleet' and LHS 2265 V. beacon ....... HELP !!!!! 😧

I looked up that system, and there is a visitor beacon there.

I'm assuming that the mission is sending you to scan that beacon with your passenger.

If so, you have to

1) Travel to the system
2) Locate the beacon on your navigation panel
3) Fly to the beacon and drop in on it (just like you do at a station)
4) Target the beacon, and point the nose of your ship at it until it scans
5) You'll get a message saying it's complete
6) return to the originating station with the passenger, and get paid

I was just typing a response and it flashed up there was a new reply so I checked it and Codger wrote most of what I would have, so yeah.

That's really all there is to it. Some sightseeing missions are to one destination, others to several. Complete all the requirements in the same way and return to get paid.

Some sightseeing missions involve more than 1 beacon, and you have to do them in order. Is that what youre trying to do? What's the first beacon, then?

Yes. I've been the the first Boosting Federal Fleet "Beacon" but where's this visitors beacon ?

The mission description shows the name of the thing you must visit. Check your navigation tab. Scanning the nav beacon can help to reveal it, but no tourist wants to go to a nav beacon. So let's say the mission says to take them to Sloppy Joe's Tourist Trap. Look through the nav tab, find it, fly to it, scan it. Done.

Assuming you scanned the first one and got the acknowledgement, you can move on to the second beacon. You should be able to find it in your navigation panel. If not, then scan the Nav Beacon and it will then show up in your navigation panel when you return to supercruise after scanning the Nav Beacon.

Right, the best sightseeing missions are often multiple-hop. The distances shown on the mission description (no arrival time, mind!) are from your starting location, and do not show the distance you must travel from one tourist stop to the next. So you might fly 'down' 150 light years to one, then need to fly 'up' to the next which was also shown as 150 light years, but these two spots are perhaps 300 light years from one another.

It's amazing how differently we all play ED. You boys jumping to the edge of the Galaxy. Me ? Sticking very close to home. Although I'm sure it will change for me. The temptation to "spread my wings" will inevitably happen. Just not at the moment. There ......... I've admitted it ........ 😏
That is what I like about this game, you can play it as you see fit.
I am not always exploring. In fact, for the past 8 months or so previously, I was in my home system boosting my factions presence and helping it to expand into nearby systems.

During that 8 months I probably travelled no further than about 20 ly's from my home system, depending on what missions I had to do.
