Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

Now to work out what "bodies" are inside it. ;)
Hmmm ....... difficult. It's hard to accurately say which bodies are inside MyCube. I've tried to use www.spansh.co.uk/nearest but it's not helping. Maybe it's just me :( but I need another way .........................
So, I'm now considering using a sphere surrounding my Home System of LHS 2265 with LHS 2265 being at the centre of the sphere. The radial dimension of the sphere will be 15LY. This means if placed inside my MyCube, it would just touch the 6 faces of the cube at each cube face's center. In other words it's the same size as MyCube with all the corners knocked off. :p

I can now determine the distance from LHS 2265 to each body inside the sphere (which I'm naming "MySphere") by plotting a journey directly to it using the "fastest route" planner in the Galaxy Map. During any trips I make, I'll need to keep my eye out for any "bodies" inside MySphere that don't show up on any System Map.

Well, that's this trainee CMDR's plan. We'll just have to see how goes. (y)
Yes, yes, I know. Boring stuff to many ...... but I'm enjoying it !
Wombat1940 has commenced exploration ! Gees ! That must sound funny to many .... :ROFLMAO:
But to quote sinisalo: "Blaze your own !" ;)

I have use this site a lot:

Quain ?
I still haven't given up visiting you in Colonia.
I was thinking of asking Codger (he's got a Fleet Carrier) to take me with my Hauler.
But don't tell him, he'll probably double his normal price if he knows it's me ! ;)
It's a big ask of Codger - 44 jumps in a carrier, one jump every 20 minutes. You could be in an ASP X in just a few hours of road 2 riches or maybe 8 to 10 hours of genuine exploration. Without engineering you can get a bit ove 34ly jump range and fly it to Colonia. But it would be a shame to do that route and not spend 3 weeks over it exploring the sites EDSM suggests on the way - well that would be my way of doing it anyway.
Next week I'm back in the galactic core with a group ELW hunting - exploring for a while.More pictures for my collection.

Ok. took off. Became stationary, deployed Hardpoints (just in case) and pressed <V > .................................................... ........................ Oh! cabin light up and small noise (like I've farted) and I'm one heatsink down ........... re-loading, and that's it ............... 😯.
Didn't have to select Primary or Secondary Weapons (maybe don't have to select Hardpoints ?). Runout of heatsink "blocks" so can't check. :(
Didn't seem to mind me doing it while stationary.
You don't need to deploy hard points to use heat sink. You can use it anytime in or out of supercruise. For exploring you launch one in a hurry if you make a mistake too close to a star.
As Codger says, in combat if you use a shield cell bank to restore some shield strength, you plan ahead launching a heat sink to counter the high heat the cell bank will produces.

I'm a bloody awful draftsperson. :p

Tell you what, I'll have a go with this method later in the coming week when I'm back in the centre of the galaxy ELW hunting. I'll start with the smallest cube I can as star density is so high and post a picture of the galaxy map so you can see it. You can begin to see where so many of the 400 billion stars are. The bubble area is really quite desolate by comparison, and yet there will still be many amazing sights to discover.

What method ? Maybe the one you explaining in your next sentence ?

Thanks. (y)

Understand, or think I do. ;)

I have use this site a lot:
Yes, looks really good. Mine has a narrower focus than yours, hence yours has a lot more information. I think they both have a role to play. ;)

Oh Hell ! That's 44 x 20 = 880 min = approx 15 hours ! 😲
No, no, that's not on ! Thanks.
I think any way of getting there is tough ! It's a long, long, long way !
How long will take you to get back ?

Yes. And this is doing it Solo. Not dragging some other pilot in.

Agree. I'll get there, but not yet. I've MySphere to explore first ..... 😜

And posting here to I hope. (y)

What about storing the heat in a heatsink and delay releasing it ?
Nothing to be gained ?

It makes that lovely ice cracking noise too, like dropping ice cubes into your g and t!
You mention G & T's ! Deserves CAPITAL LETTERS ! Our nightly drink (or two or .... ) in Bali. The great thing there is that you can buy a bottle for as little as 15 AUD !
Roughly 11 USD, 8 Pounds, or 9 Euros. And it's fine to drink. We pay 35 AUD at least for a bottle in Oz !
Oh! Thanks. Ye ....... "ice cracking noise" ....... :p

Well, there were too many Systems (for me) in the 30LY MySphere sphere. I got to 17 and still going. 😲
So I reduced the sphere size to 20LY (10LY Radius).
Now that is almost too few. Just 4 (Systems). However; that's better, (again for me). There'll be plenty to explore, and it will really feel like "home". ;)
EDIT: Just realised I do have 5 Systems to explore. I was forgetting my Home Base, LHS 2265. (y)

My 12Kly trip Colonia to somewhere just past Sagittarius A* for ELW hunting is 89 jumps. Lots of Neutron stars in that route.
22Kly Colonia to the bubble, so about 160 - 180 jumps and could be done at about 1 jump per minute on average at a sprint, maybe quicker. So it looks like taking between 2 and 3 hours. I know someone who claims to have done bubble to Colonia in 1 hour 29 minutes 😳

Before I bought my carrier, I built myself an Anaconda designed specifically for long-range travel using neutron star boosts. I practiced with it, and it worked very well. I still have it, but I will probably never use it for traveling now -- I just prefer the slower pace with the carrier, and I like having all my ships with me. And I like getting my first-discovered tags right away. I'm hoping they add the exobiology vendor to carriers soon.

Funny ...... my exploration is totally different from so many other pilots including Codger and Quain.
They are "way out in the sticks", as we would say in Oz.
While I could hardly be focused on any smaller region. Anything smaller would have to be a single System.
But then there'd be no Hyperspace jumps (ie. System to System) and that would be unfortunate and not good for any trainee CMDR.
Maybe, yet again another quality about ED: whatever way you play ED, macro or mynute, the care and attention to detail is still there to see.
Well done ED.
