Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

If you do write something, why not write it with a bigger audience in mind.
Nah, I already got the screenshots.

This will be directed at you specifically. Outfitting is a huge topic and I'm not going to try to explain all that, I just want to show you what buttons to press and what to expect with your Hauler.

I'll put the screenies into thumbnails to make them take up less space. Click to enlarge.

Step one, select Outfitting:

1.png
Step 2: Select Hardpoints. Sell any weapon you find there

2.jpg
3.png

Step 3, select Core Internals:
4.jpg

For each module here you can select it, then Browse Shop:
5.png
There will be a list of available modules for that slot, in this case Power Plants. Choose the one you want to replace your 2E with (mine is already replaced here, so it's in red. Yours won't be):
6.png

Choose Exchange to buy the new module and sell the old one (no reason to keep those stock modules)

7.png

Do this for all the modules you want to replace. If you find that something you want isn't in the list, then it's not available at that station and you'll have to find it elsewhere.

Move on to Optional Internals and put in your fuel scoop, cargo bays, docking computers, etc in a similar fashion.

I'm sure you'll still have questions, but I hope this gets you started.

Go to the Shipyard, Stored Ships tab. Use the left and right arrows to cycle through the ships you have stored here to get to the Sidewinder - OK you only have one ship so the Sidewinder will be there.

Click the STORAGE OPTIONS button bottom right of the screen under the ship details.
Click USE THIS SHIP

Wait a short while as you get into the Sidewinder then go to OUTFITTING
In the OUTFITTING screen, click CORE INTERNAL and a list of the ship's core internal modules is show
Click on the 2A Frameshift Drive and a panel pops up.
I just want to transfer the optional 'Auto Docking Module'. Is it the same process as the FSD transfer, except I don't have to replace it in the SideWinder ?

Now you can go back to the Shipyard and repeat the process written earlier to USE THIS SHIP and get back into the Hauler and go to OUTFITTING again.
Click CORE INTERNAL, then click on Frameshift Drive and a panel pops up. There are several buttons, BROWSE SHOP is what you use to buy a new Frameshift Drive which will show you a list of Frameshift Drives to buy. When buying a new one, select the 2A module and click BUYING OPTIONS. You have the option to EXCHANGE (sell the existing 2E Frameshift Drive) or STORE the existing 2E Frameshift drive. Pick EXCHANGE because there is no reason to keep the 2E Frameshift Drive.
That's it purchase complete. Do the same for the other CORE INTERNALS you need to buy,
So to install other modules do I just replace the words in blue above with the alternative module name and proceed the same way ?

I'd leave it in the Sidey. It's a loaned module, and not expensive anyway. Just buy a new one for the Hauler. If you ever go back to your Sidey, you'd want it to still be fully functional I expect.

But yes, if you want to go back to your Sidey and store the auto docking module, you can then fit it to the Hauler using the Transfer option.

Yeah. Note that once you get to the Optional Internals you get a whole list of modules that could go in that slot. Unlike the Core slots which can only take one kind of module.

I might transfer it in this instance so as to teach myself the transferring option. I might then transfer it back to reinforce the skill and then buy a new one for the hauler.

Remember ....... I've still NOT got to your instruction post. That will be for reinforcement of what I'm learning here. Important I don't waste anything ....... it all helps, and it's free ..... ;)

No questions really. With what I got out of Quains screed and your screenshots there's less to it than I thought. But it always appears that way after you understand anything. :D
I'll use Quain's instructions to complete the transfer of my Auto Docking Module from Manita to Manita 2.

Quite sincerely boys, thanks for the effort.
And that's the important thing: somebody is saying a genuine thank you.
Well ..... it is if it was me ....... so I hope so for you two too. (y)

I assume that because it's an optional module and it doesn't have anything to replace ? 🤔
Some ships come standard with them, I forgot they added that. :)

Anyway, congrats on your new Hauler.

Once it's outfitted, it'll be able to do pretty much anything in the game besides combat.

It's a fine ship.

Right ...... now to buy something ....... 🤫
Ok
(1) Successfully sold the gun (y)

(2) I want to buy the Scoop first.
How do I go to the Shop to look for a Scoop ? (If I go by selecting a particular module, say Life Support, it just takes me to the part of the Shop with only Life Support modules.)
I need to browse the whole Shop maybe .......

If it was a standard item (it was in the SideWinder) where's the one gone that I transferred from the Sidewinder ?
Maybe it hasn't transferred.
Maybe I don't know how to transfer something. :(

2.10am here. Time for 😴. Thanks boys.

Next stop - It's about 12,000,000 credits to get a DBX at the right specification. That will be at least 12, ideally 15 stops on a "road to riches" to be sure to get that money - if that is how you want to go about raising the credits.
I just looked up a road to riches list for you that should get you to 15 million and ends in a system called Maia. But do pick some other random place you fancy heading for instead and ignore this list if you like - you can make your own by choosing a different destination.
There is a space station and planetary bases in Maia you can dock at to get repairs/restock/refuel if needed (but you have a fuel scoop of course). You might be able to sell your exploration data at the station in Maia system (forget if it has Universal Cartographics or not), but you'll need to fly back to the bubble area to buy any ships. In fact, Diaguandri and the Ray Gateway station is one of the nearest to Maia about 258 ly away and one of the best places to buy ships due to the wide availability and 10% discount.
I've pasted the road to riches list here, click SPOILER to reveal it.
As you get closer to Maia, if you see any NON-HUMAN Signal Sources in a system, stay way from them. Visiting a NON-HUMAN Signal Source Threat Level 7 lead to the fastest destruction of my ship I've seen in combat so far. Thargoids are not always pleased to see you....

You should find the same list here:

There are other ways to get the 12 million you need and of course you should always play your game the way you want to, but this the quickest way to get credits with a Hauler and you can do your own freestyle exploring looking at whatever you see as you go along with this.

Optional Internal modules do not have to be replaced with anything. All the core internals are mandatory for the ship to fly, so there musty always be at least an E rated module for every core internal module on a ship.
