Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

Been looking to the future:
(1) Passenger Missions will just be a means to an end. I can't think of anything worse. Noisy, smelly, argumentative passengers ! The last thing I want to be involved with ! However, to gain credits, I'll do it.
(2) Once I've found my home base, I going to develop my own bubble around it. The size will be limited to the fuel range I have for the craft I finish up with. That range being achieved without the necessity to fuel scooping. In fact, the bubble might be much smaller than that unscooped fuel range. 10 to15 Systems at the most maybe.
(3) Within my bubble I intend to explore every planet, moon, rock, station, ship, etc there is. I hope to land on as many planets as I can, walk on its surface, but not travel any long distances on the same, thus avoiding having to own an SRV.
(4) I will Galaxy map and Systems each area and produce copies of the same available to others.
(5) This is "Exploration" with a difference, not necessarily appealing to many others. However ........ ;)
Platinum is also (still) good for credit building.

This part won't be possible without Odyssey. The only way to get out of your ship onto the surface of a planet in Horizons is in an SRV.

SRVs are fun. You don't want to drive one?

Are you suggest I need to include mining as a task I undertake within my bubble ?
Like crappy Passenger Missions; Mining is not Exploration. It's to earn credits. Period ...........
Platinum is the easiest way to gain credits ming - it is laser mining, which I personally find exactly as exciting as watching paint dry. Passenger missions have the high chance of showing you something interesting to see, the first one or two times you go there, as well as bring in some credits.

Hehe. I love mining, especially laser mining. To each their own!

With those objectives, you could buy a Type 6 transporter, put additional fuel tanks in some of the internal slots to extend its range without scooping... which would reduce but not eliminate the need to scoop for a 15 system range bubble, and explore that area with it. The cockpit view is pretty good in a T6. A DBX is also more than good enough for exploring that relatively small area. It's a good objective for the near term, and if you enjoy ED enough to play longer you can make new objectives for yourself that might involve going further afield.

15 Systems is purely notional and will not necessarily be the controlling size of my bubble. Maybe 2 to 5 Systems is a better estimate. 🤔

I'm still working with my new Hauler, and it's currently just gathering dust in the hanger !
Hence, the T6, DBX are all in the future. ;)
However, thanks for the advice.

I'm at Smith Terminal in the LHS System.
Got 'collected' by a spoke between the outer rim of the station and the Station itself.
Oops!
Took some effort to get free.
I was flying manually to get into a better position before engaging Auto Docking; as I have 'auto docked' into a Rim previously. ☹️
Totally forgot about the spoke and that it was rotating with the rim and the station.
BANG!
What the hell was that !
Yes, I can laugh about it now. 🤣
Thank God I had no pesky passengers on board ! 🤭

There are trees, vegetation growing inside the Station. A least I think they are trees ...... parked at the moment,
about to drop to my hanger, but I'll take a closer look when I leave. ;)

I came to Smith Terminal because they had a 3D Passenger Cabin. Now I'm here it turns out to be a 3E. ☹️
Unknowingly, I "exchanged" my 3D Fuel Scoop for the 3E Passenger Cabin, ☹️
Now I've had to settle to buying a 3E Fuel Scoop as a replacement. ☹️
B****r ! So now I'm looking for a 3D Scoop and a 3D Cabin ........
EDIT: I've replaced the 3E Scoop with a 3D. :p
EDIT: Ok ....... I've replaced my 3E Cabin with a 3D ! (y)
EDIT: Ok, ok ..... I've replaced my 3D Scoop with a 3B ! (y) (y) (y)

Grrrrr ! Having a bad day with ED. Forgetting how to do things, can't find things, things working incorrectly, things working without my permission ..... Grrrr !
