Needs it's own thread... RDR2 release date on PC

Yeah, I don't see myself playing the MP bit.
GTA Online has racing which is fun, even though nowhere near as fun as the hilarious GTA IV online racing - that was a blast! But I don't know what I'd do in RDR2 online, I won't be good at shooting as I'll play it with my trusty PS3 controller.

BTW, will first person view an option? I like the old 3rd person view, but equally, first person was quite immersive in GTA V.
Yup, you can play the entire game in first person if you wish. It's actually pretty good...and there's online racing but on horses or in stage coaches so I hear. Saying that, I've never played RDR2 multiplayer at all since I've had it. I'm on my 4th playthrough of the story mode, still looking for and collecting all the little bits and pieces like dinosaur bones and rock paintings that are a nightmare to find since there are no clues or little maps, eyeball Mk1 only so you have to go look...and just playing the game of course.

I also went back and played the first one...which still holds up graphically after 9 years then started the prequel all over again. I warn you, RDR2 is perhaps the most addictive and immersive gaming experience released to date on any platform... :)

Rather curious about the game, but not a fan of Rockstar themselves. And while I probably would have been caught by launch hype had it been a day 1 release, by now I've cooled down a fair bit, making waiting a bit more a complete non-issue, and skipping it altogether a possibility, like with GTA5. Will wait for a deep discount in about a year or so and decide then I guess.

Have to say platform and store exclusives are doing wonders for my wallet. They're a fantastic deterrent to impulse purchases. For the stuff I'm really into, it doesn't change much (ex: Monster Hunter World), but for the rest, it does provide me with a far better perspective (Ashen, RGO, RDR2...).

Anyhow, there'll be plenty of happy people. I didn't expect them to port it so soon.
What's not to like about Rockstar? They consistently create some of the very best video games in existence.

In fairness to the guys comment I can see where he comes from, the usual rockstar games aren't my general cup o tea either :)

But this will get bought hands down on release.

He was talking about Rockstar as a company, I thought. I was pointing out that the quality of their games trumps any hand wringing concerns that have been brought up about the company's morals and business practices in recent months.

I don't like all their games, but their Grand Theft Auto series is unparalleled in open world creation and creativity.

I doubt they will ship 13 DVDs. You know, a DVD holds around 8GB of Data (dual layer single side).
Ooops, stupid me - I meant Blu-ray. It comes as 2 discs for PS4, and even on disk it still takes forever to load.

The reason I said DVD originally is that's what I own, an external USB DVD player. Not owning a PC Blu-ray player, I guess I'll just have to download this bit by bit. This isn't a problem with Steam, not sure about other online stores.

BTW, I remember the day when some programs (like Windows) came on 13 (give or take) floppy discs. Now it takes thirteen DVDs - my how times have changed!

Most of their games are gems.
LA Noire was great, but Max Payne 3 was simly sublime. That game deserves a movie adaptation.

Honestly, not interested anymore. The way Rockstar has a habit to delay their games for PC for years now annoys me. Can't be bothered to pay them anymore.

Well, you guys on pc are in for a treat, rdr2 is an awesome game in all it's aspects.
I've played it on Xbox One X in 4k and it's gorgeous.
I'm glad for you guys, you already missed out on the first one which was also good.

I'm pretty sure it will look better.
Disappointed by the Steam delay, Epic in play ag

I bought a xbox-one-x especially for it last year on release, having like you said, missed out on the first. It was well worth the money buying the xbox, it looked and played exceptionally, a really great game.
Being a pc player, if I would have known it was coming to pc a year later.. well to be honest... I would still have bought the console, I was that eager to play it.
So playing it again on pc will be an added bonus. I must say I'm really looking forward to it again.. :)

When the first came around I was still a PS3 'peasant', and I played it through at least twice.
I think it had one of the best, if not best storyline of any game I ever played.

Even playing various card games in the pubs was great, spent a great deal of time in RDR!

Just pre-ordered the PC version from the Rockstar launcher...prices are £54.99 for the special edition, £69.99 for the Ultimate edition. The Ultimate edition has some starting perks for RDR2 online as the only difference between the 2...not required in my book since I'll no sooner play it online on PC any more than I did on the Xbox.

Starting story mode perks include a very good in game horse (it's important) and a few outfits...usual Rockstar thing. You also get to chose 2 free games along with your purchase ranging from the earlier GTA series, Max Payne 3, LA Noire...etc.

Can't wait to compare the 2 versions if I'm honest...the Xbox version is absolutely stunning (I play on my 4K monitor instead of a TV) so I can't honestly see how they could possibly better it. Just a few screenies from the Xbox version...with appropriate spoiler tags.

Good for you, I'll wait till the Steam release. :)

Meh...another launcher doesn't bother me too much, I haven't grown allergic to them as yet...apart from the Epic nonsense of course :)

I can wait for another month, and to be honest any perks (money, horse) etc. that they give do nothing for me - rather the opposite, such games are more enjoyable when you are short on resources. :)

What bugs me that R* launcher could be needed anyway when playing through Steam.

You get the perks anyway...no matter where you buy it. There's nothing spoiler about them, simply a horse and a silly outfit. RDR2 isn't a survival game, it's simply a great story.
