Needs it's own thread... RDR2 release date on PC

Runs fine for me, haven't checked my actual framerate but there's no visible stutter. I've had 2 crashes to desktop, both from menu screens rather than in game. I also had an issue where it kicked me out said I wasn't logged in to social club when It had literally told me two second earlier that I was logged into social club (but that turned out to be a windows defender issue, added an exception and it started working, you shouldn't need to do that sort of thing though)

The other annoyance for me is you can't turn off the little red X's when you kill someone without turning off the reticle completely, I've always hated it when games use artificial means to tell you when you killed the enemy, it ruins the tension. I'd rather not know if the guy who dropped behind a rock is dead or not, so I'm playing with no reticle. Makes gunfights last a bit longer as I need to get my eye in :D

Great game though

I must admit with being in A2 doing ai stuff, I've not got around to buying RDR2 for pc yet.

It's funny with us pc players, we're all obsessed with frame rates..
I'm probably one of the worst for it too..

But the nice thing about playing RDR2 on 'xbox one x' was, I didn't think about frame rates at all... It just ran lovely.

I'll be buying it for pc, for sure, but only when I'm ready to play it again. ;)

LMAO! - I misread that and thought we had a new Hero coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 (this would be cool, actually).

So you need to pay 55 quid for the cut down version, 70 quid if you want the entire story line and most of the content, and £80 if you want some extra weapons & stuff..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that last bit sounds an awful lot like "pay to win"...…...In fact each package apparently gives you "Gameplay boosts".

Hopefully this isn't going to be "SW:BF2" all over again.

But then I actually play, and although it is a wonderful piece of craftsmanship, I do find the button-reminder-pressing (is it gonna be E or R or F or WHAT??), the forced, glacial pace of walking around in camp or buildings, and the micromanagement mechanics of weapons and clothes really quite annoying!

I mean, the number of times I'm off my horse, get ambushed and - What? Where's my trusty Lancaster Repeater? Oh, it's on the flipping horse, and all I got is a pistol and a sawn off... Dead. Again.

Some of those annoyances are annoying, but once modders really get their teeth into this game, they will be modded out I'm sure.

What game are we talking about here?

1.14 has been released... although I never had any problems with the game that some have, there's a marked improvement in performance. Getting over 71fps now on 4K on my potato rig.

So far did that patch not only improve performance (now running mostly max settings on a humble 1070, 16GB, i5 7500), it also fixed all stuttering. Fingers crossed but the last few hours have been absolutely problem free. To me RDR2 is kinda like W3: the main quest and basic missions are okay'ish I guess, but the true joy for me is just wandering around in what is the most gorgeous gameworld I have seen so far. :)

Agreed - I'm only about 25% through the story on PC so far, but I'm not rushing it. I seem to spend most of my time interfering with rabbits and deer.

One thing I did notice is that the patch switched me back to Vulkan mode. I don't use Vulkan on my PC, because the performance hit is too great - something to do with an Nvidia card (1080Ti 11GB) and an AMD CPU (FX8350)*. I was wondering why my performance had dropped through the floor... and that was the reason. It had also removed most of my optimised settings as well, which was a pain. All good now though.

* OK so it's kinda "non potato" I guess, but I'm comparing it to my Threadripper workstation that blew up, this is my backup PC. :(

I've been roaming around collecting stuff for the various talismans and trinkets...a few legendary animals here and there plus a few dinosaur bones, quartz chunks and a looted silver chain bracelet so the local fence could run me up a nice bear claw belt buckle... and a nice comfy bear fur saddle from the trapper.

I also brought in the last few pelts (cougar and grey wolf) that Pearson needed to craft the legend of the east satchel then I headed off to collect the complete set of adventurer reinforced weapons gear from the trapper after a few days of digging through treasure maps.... I'll get around to doing some story missions eventually I suppose :)

Love this game for the complete freedom to please yourself what you do and when you do it...

Tonight I fired up GTA5 for a short blast via Steam, and got the launcher installed. They way the game is getting started seemed not intrusive at all, after the short install the launcher appeared only for a short while before the game strated - much better than expected.

Now I only need the Steam release date. :)

GTAV campaign is an amazing game, if you give it a chance. I can't think of an open world as detailed, immersive and rich as the one Rockstar created with that one. Fingers crossed that RDR2's world is on par!

Oh, I think I played through it at least 4 times between PS3 and PC. :)
I am a fan of GTA since the original game. :)

It's well above par. If you appreciate the detail and world building that went into GTAV, you'll have absolutely nothing to worry about with RDR2.

Enjoy. :)

That sounds awesome! I just finished downloading it last night and only had time to fire it up and make sure it actually started cleanly (which it did, thank goodness). Today my wife and kids are going to a dog trial for the afternoon, so I'm going to have the house to myself for about three hours and am planning on diving in to see what all the fuss is about. Yee-haw!
