Needs it's own thread... RDR2 release date on PC

Played about 2.5 hours of it so far and am in love. It really reminds me of Kingdom Come Deliverance but with higher production values.
So it was worth all our efforts at hyping it up then? :D

I risked a death or glory dash to Blackwater to get hold of the best horse in the game, a cross bred thoroughbred/war horse...died 3 times in the process but it was all worth it in the end :)

Absolutely!

The only negative so far is the fact that I didn't play the first game, so I'm completely lost in the story.

You're fine on that score, the first game is actually a sequel to this one...strangely enough. RDR2 kinda fills in the back story for RDR1.

I have a sneaking suspicion that R* will do a remake of RDR1 on PC with the new game engine...here's hoping.

Wait...so all the back story they keep referring to in the prologue really is new material I'm not supposed to know anything about? Man, thats awesome!

From what I gather having watched several appearances from the cast in various videos etc...they had no idea about it either...and they spent 5 years making this. They assumed at some point during the creation of RDR2, they'd learn as the story unfolded as to what happened on that boat in Blackwater they keep going on about..they didn't...and neither do we.

There's a few random conversations in camp around the fire between the various gang members throughout the game, but no real information as to what happened and why Dutch killed that woman 'In a bad way'... I'd suggest reading Arthur's journal if you haven't already. It's a fascinating look into the world of RDR2 done through pencil drawings and scribbled notes from his perspective.

The journal also charts Arthur's progress through the game but from your eyes...every creature or plant you discover, every place of interest you come across, he draws a picture in the journal and adds a few hand written notes of description...it's well worth a read through.

Pretty good story telling :)

I've yet to get it on PC (i've got a oneX so I'm kinda hesitant to double dip on it as graphical differences are probably minimal)
does anybody know if there's plans for a R* editor for RDR2 on PC ?
that's the reason i double dipped their other games

There's a few modding tools on the Nexus...simple scripting tools mainly (to add scripts that change the length of days etc) but full support is expected at some point. R* have said as much as far as I'm aware.

I didn't mind the double dipping this time around...I did with GTA V since I bought in on the 360 on release and again for the Xbone version...never got it for PC though.

As for graphical differences between the OneX and PC and having both versions I can make side by side direct comparison with (I played both version simultaneously on my 2 identical monitors)...there's enough to make the PC version interesting, much better lighting, grass and tree textures etc...but is there a huge leap in graphical fidelity from the lowly OneX to PC?

Nope. It's a beautiful game on whichever platform you play it ;)

OneX version....

yeah I did that with GTAV too, but the only reason was for the extensive replay editing on PC (i also originally had it on the 360)

the R* editor allows you to make your own little movies and do camera sweeps, slow mo, view the scene from any angle etcand string a series of recordings together into any length of "movie" you like

Arthur steals a horse and gallops out of town, hollering back over his shoulder at the owner "I'm just borrowing it!"

Ten minutes later when he brings the horse back, the guy goes "Wow, you really were just borrowing him!"

Yes, I think I'm in love 😂

I wish that facility existed right now.

I had the funniest death early on in the game that I've ever had in any game ever. Which is saying something... but alas I didn't record it, so you'll have to take my word for it.

During the train robbery at the start, when you clear out the baddies and get near to the engine to stop the train, Lenny starts shouting "We've GOT to stop this train!!". He did this while we were going over a bridge, and an open carriage.

Arthur is supposed to say "All right, keep calm..." but unfortunately, around this time, I accidentally walked off the carriage and fell off the train.

So instead he says "All right, keep ca-AAAAaaaaaaaaaaarrrggghhhhhhh!!!". DEAD.

Honestly, the comic timing of it was just perfect. :ROFLMAO:

Actually, I'd recommend playing RDR1 by picking up a used Ps3 or Eggs Box. :)

im sitting on an old copy of the GOTY edition with undead nightmare. when i get the time I fully intend to play through both again. (its backwards compatible on the XB)
RDR1 and undead are the only games i have ever 100% completed (im at 97% on rdr2 and once I've finished that im gonna continue the story in chronological order)

I kept the horse...a Suede coloured American standardbred with very good stats and way better than anything you could buy from any of the local stables...the poor guy remained horseless in my game :D

And here she is, the very same temporarily purloined equine beauty... I still have her in my stable too, thanks to Jimmy Brooks ;)

So are you all mostly playing the story right now? My wife has become seriously addicted to RDO (on PS4), but I think this is because it offers her the "blaze your own trail" that story mode doesn't. She's an "elite" collector now, with all sorts of nice clothes (her favorite part of the game, LOL), a fancy camp, etc. She loves fishing challenges, but she's also not afraid to get into a gunfight. With my help she was able to create a decent looking female character, so she likes playing 3rd person mode.

I tried RDO, but I felt the game world takes a step backwards because you don't get the NPC interactions that you do in the story mode. I love chatting with people and learning their stories. I also can relate with Arthur on some levels, though sometimes his dialog is completely at odds with how I play the story. And once you get past all the unlocks, you can put the story on hold and do your own thing for awhile - hence why I never got that far into the story on PS4. Now I'm just waiting for Steam release on PC and a good sale, and then I'll probably finish the story and maybe give RDO another try. If RDO ever supports cross-play, so my wife and I could team up, then I'd probably be very much addicted to it!

I haven't tried RDO... on either PS4 or PC.

Not a fan of online games in general (E: D I can at least play solo or in private group) because "people". The other reason is that I'm rubbish, and I take games at my own slow & middle-aged pace. I have no desire to "git gud".... at least, not by any standards that aren't expected by the game itself.

Maybe I will try it at some point, but right now I'm concentrating on story mode.

Back in the early days of RDR2 on Xbox...we had some interesting issues

I've played the story through 3 times so far and the 1st thing I do (after the hosea bear hunting mission) is go back to the snowy area for that sweet white Arabian.
one of the fastest horse in the game (and she's free)

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
The launcher and stability issues have me a bit scared to buy this yet. How have people's experience been with it? Anyone that had issues with launching it now able to play?
