It should be quicker to get the same information.
This assumes you do full system scans. Now you have to fiddle with tuning just to see if something is interesting? Here's how I think it should work:
Honk shows all objects with some basic info, ie type of planets, landable or not, etc.
Tune scanner to get more info on specific planets, this will tell you minerals & such & if there are any unusual anomalies
Fire probe to get more specific info on what the anomalies are, ie, lifeforms, geysers, etc.
This seems like a more reasonable compromise of old/new systems. It still gives rewards to casual explorers and adds optional added depth to full system scanners. The new system sounds like the death toll for casual exploration. Playing an SRV scanner style minigame just to discover every single planet in the system does not sound fun.
