I guess if the Titans just pull up their tentpoles and unceremoneously trundle off, I guess the Thargoid mystery remains, and they stay a menacing unspeaking presence in the dark, but... I don't know -- I have only watched the war from the sidelines personally, and done some argueably "peaceful" bits, so I do realise my insight into all the efforts is very limited; And given the means, the players who do involve themselves have beaten back the front, for sure; But... it still doesn't feel "earned"... From a storytelling perspective... Does that make sense?
If this is the end of the main plot arc, I think it would feel very sudden, after things have been drawn out for so long, and so little has been revealed.

Much of that comes inherently with the MMO nature of the game, of course, and I am the sort who typically play games to experience the story, which has never been what Elite is...

Maybe we're getting a new powerplay because Thargoid superpowers are getting added to powerplay? Would be crazy.

Not been confirmed directly but it's strongly implied given the fact it's the only feature rework they have mentioned in the same stream they stated they were also introducing some entirely new feature to the game in 2024, so I would go on the side of yes for that.

  • U19 - PowerPlay TWO POINT ZERO - "sometime in the summer" (Hi @Rubbernuke ... you look pale. Do you need a cup of tea?)
  • in between those times - and this was specifically mentioned twice and a third mention of "interim" - we get tweaks and fixes - so I think we really are getting regular tweaks and fixes.
  • "After" - "brand new feature" - THIS YEAR - but noooooooo clues.
  • And NEW SHIPS - showed a render of Python II (we already have threads on those) - "one of at least four, across the year"

Awesome. Sounded real to me - and after 29 years of software engineering and release management, my spidey sense on these things is pretty good.

Dream scenario for powerplay imo would be both Thargoids and Guardians as factions. New mid-size fast NPC guardian ship with all the guardian bells and whistles.

Also, PLEASE FDev allow purchase of engineering materials for credits. It makes no sense that I can buy Copper for credits, but not Iron or Lead. Just make all engineering Materials commodities, and let the market set the price.

A bunch of ghosts in PP? You do know that the only guardian ‘life’ suspected of possibly still existing is their AI that killed them all?

Why would you want all your engineering materials to be subject to the rules of commodities and taking up cargo space?

I'd think an anti-Xeno power that offered weapons and modules that didn't require a PhD in guardian grind would be welcomed. It would also mean the game actively includes acknowledgement from the inhabited systems that the bugs actually exist. It's odd to have pirate massacre missions right next door to an xeno inhabited system, with nary a mention of the bugs.
