New Ships 2024

Oops, somehow missed the tease shot from earlier. Nevermind. Is 07 actually a large pad?

ETA: pad 7 is medium, as I'd realise if I read the thread properly. Sigh.
I did note that, but I'm thinking it is quite plausible they went for hangar 07 for the salute without caring size it was. But who knows for sure, maybe it is a clue!

This comparison image by WilliamBillAdama shows it's a medium ship compared to the Cutter.

Compared only to the Cutter and its giant nozzle.
If we take a worker in the nozzle, lift him from his knee, take his height as 177 cm and measure the height of this part of the ship with him, we will get a minimum of 23 meters. And it could be higher, hidden behind the hangar door. This is the height of small Large ships and big Medium ships.

Whatever the 2 new ships will turn out to be, I can't really see either of them being Imperial or Federation. I don't think they would want to force players to grind rank for new ship designs.
Can you imagine FD saying: "Well I'd like to earn a whole ton of money making more Imp/Fed ships, but that pesky rank is preventing me."

They can easily come up with a Galnet article to explain why you should be allowed to buy ships from them. Insert crisis here to make the major superpowers open up their ship access to everyone.

Since rank locking is a feature of this game, it is not unbelievable to get 2 of the 4 new ships with ranks attached to them. I'd laugh so hard if the last 2 will only be for kings and admirals. But maybe it'll go along with a ARX "bribe" package to buy-in.

Zorgon Peterson are quiet stylish, that would negate the rank issue and of course Saud kruger are the imperial passenger fleet which also requires no rank grind.
Either way Cutter Mk2 medium exploration ship with drinks cabinmate and jacuzzi would be nice thankyou.

If they release ships by role, there are only 5 roles in the game.
Universal, combat, cargo, explorer and passenger carrier.

And it is not quite clear classification of the warship as the game all warships should have combat compartments in this their difference. Since in these bays can not be put not combat modules.

You mentioned most of the main categories. There more roles such as miner, pirate, and less important salvager, search and rescue, support etc. If they add content to those roles then they should be more fun.

I think the concept image shows a medium Gutamaya exploration ship, but that's just a guess.

The key is the new Sco drives. We have a fighter and a freighter, so time for an exploration ship that can handle the heat and handling of prolonged sco drive usage. Significant upgrade and fun for explorers, even reason to preorder the ship!

But in the picture it looks like whatever the height of that ship is, it’s nearing the top of the hangar so it doesn’t look like the hangar would be able to fit the larger large ships.

A prebuild Cobra MkIV available for ARX would be nice. Still want to use that ship for the internals in a small.
Actually I think it could've been an option - as an ARX only option. Especially that number of owners of that ship is very small nowadays.

What I have noticed is that there's no ship in 50-125 tonnes range of hull mass. While big ships options are a plenty, I'd give some love for small-medium ship lovers (T8 doesn't count as it is overgrown).

I have found some ships reiteration strange - for example Krait II is much heavier medium ship while its' precedessor was small agile frame.
Or Imperial Courier, which was decent medium ship, which could have put a fight, nowadays is Eagle-sized.
