I have no idea if this has been suggested yet (if it has or if i missed an option somewhere please correct me). But it would be awesome if the price and quantity entry boxes automatically inserted either commas (or periods) to delimit your numbers. Would make entering prices much faster.

Your tool is great, was using it on the rare run along with the cool OCR software with one run to cap the prices, and on the second run enabled me to pick up extra profit from empty cargo space from jump to jump.
I like the fact its a helper, data gets old after time, but its there as a reference for me to build up. Personally I'm relieved for the OCR software, as writing down each price would get old (and this is from an '84er who went thru reams of paper back in the day). But your tool is the perfect balance between a reference solution while still requiring exploration for trade routes.

Just getting started with this tool.. I've noticed something wacky with case though. My OCR was goofed up until I put my colors back to default, so when imported data I had to manually correct the OCR tool system names and I put them in all caps. Then when it was working, OCR named the systems in 'proper' case, with capital first letter, etc.. I went back and tried to edit the original system names to match the proper OCR format, and now I have system duplicates..
I see how I can manually resolve this in system_data, but it's a bit of PITA as I only updated a couple stations in each system, not the entire set of stations as I did the first go around.
Just something to be aware of.. Perhaps it makes sense to modify the code so that when it goes to update data to disregard case (convert to all upper/lower when doing the string comparison) for system / station names?

ok, I realize a lot of people on this thread are older than normal player. I am 72 myself and seem to be slower at this stuff than I used to be. I have 2 questions.
1- can the info I input be printed out? I have entered some info on desktop but can't seem to get it to show on laptop even though I run the app from flashdrive. I hoped to be able to use it on any computer but apparently not. thus t he wish for printout.
2- is there, or can t her be, a tutorial of how to use this? I think I am missing a lot of options through a lack of understanding. fast/clear minds are wasted on the young when us old guys really need them.

sounds strange. can you describe the symptoms of this?
I don't think there is an easy way to print stuff from the app. maybe you should request such an option if you can define properly what you want. Some Cut to clipboard functionality would probably go a long way towards helping you here.
You should probably ask specific questions in this thread if there are things that confuse you.

I want to be able t o take t he flash drive and use it from either my desktop or my laptop.
right now it will work from flash drive on desktop but will not work from flash drive on laptop.
I use win 8.1 on both machines. I "think" Norton is deleting it on laptop. I told it to restore on desktop and it did and works.
the laptop did not give that option. this is something I am doing I am sure but danged if I can figure it out. hopefully this is better explanation. if this is not something I should be posting here just tell me to go away. I do not want to bother you if not appropriate. thx

it is definitely Norton. it classifies it as dangerous because less t hat 50 people using Norton security are using it. anyone know a way around this? I think you need the second part in step 4; "In the Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence Detection row, click Configure. In the Real Time Exclusions window, click Add.".

I don't think there is a new version beyond the one linked in the first post. The author ArchV1 is on paternity leave.
New trading goods can be added by editing the default_commodity_data.txt file in a text editor.
There's no way to do exactly what you want... BUT with the addition of a pencil and paper it's easy to plan such a route, using the "Anywhere" entry on the trade window. You're starting at System A, tell it you want to go "anywhere" and find the one with the best profit. Select that one as your origin and hit "anywhere", find your next station, and so on.
I had this problem. Never managed to reproduce it so that it could be fixed. I always take a backup now.

To build chained trade routes like this you're much better off using one of the websites or TradeDangerous.
