I wonder what is the percentage of Open players who don't really care about Power Play but instead want more live players to kill.
Speaking of obsessional behaviour. Powerplay is designed to be counter-able because Sandy and the team figured that was a good idea. Needs work? But still actually a cool idea. Provides context to combat; which was sort of the point. They then shoved it in solo, despite that not being the purpose, because commanders essentially demanding "modes must be the same" and damn any consequences. Frontier are potentially seeking to correct that decision.
Meanwhile, the OP is registering their disquiet by continuing to play. So not exactly the most catastrophic outcome for the developer, then. This change has nothing to do with "more players to kill". It's correcting mechanics that are presently broken. Something I'll always encourage the developer to do. Because that's a fairly sane thing to ask for. Improvements.
Lastly: it's actually remarkably simple to opt out of a personally untenable outcome. Stop playing. Uninstall. Move on. And yet; are endless droves doing that? Apparently not. So just how cripplingly bad is this change, when the most action it's getting so far - is just endless hot air?
And the broader community? Seem to understand the point of the change just fine (with some concern, which of course is perfectly normal).

My previous comment still stands; the more Frontier ignores this place (with it's endless intolerance, infinite capacity for personal-slight and limitless recalcitrance) and embraces the input from the
broader community, whom have a far less extreme viewpoint due to simply strength of number moderating general views, the better the game will get. Long may that continue.
