And if that happens, they must refund, or fnd an alternative way to satisfy the pledge reward, like our own servers.

If anyone can log in without authentication, then you are correct. But this is clearly not the case with Elite.
OMG are people STILL trying to say this game doesn't have DRM?! Look, it doesn't matter how much you forum vigilantes try to cause arguments over something that obviously doesn't concern you, saying that 'Filezilla connects to the internet but isn't DRM' and other such nonsense it utterly pointless.
If you have to identify yourself to do something, otherwise whatever you're trying to access will not allow you to do it AND you have to remain connected to use it, otherwise you will not be able to, AND said item does NOT REQUIRE you to actually BE online to use it UNLESS it has been deliberately coded in such a way as to require server access in order to complete certain actions, even though this isn't a necessity - That is clearly DRM.
In ED's case, it has already been proven by people that the actual game itself is quite happy to run without an internet connection - only the market data, and online MP data is needed to be communicated from servers. Converting this to offline play would be trivial, as market data would be a simple database, and you wouldn't need MP data for offline use.
Basically, the core game, the bit that is about flying around space, docking with stations, trading, and mining, are all easily done offline, there is no requirement for 'complex servers' to run all of this. Those saying the galaxy could only be possible by use of external servers running it are, sadly, either misguided or naive.
Oh, and MMO games (which Frontier is NOT one of, it is a game that happens to have some MP facility), DO require servers to run, as the servers store all the info for every shard (or island, or whatever you want to call it), including all NPC's, enemies, players, loot, everything - therefore this is required for the game to run properly.
Bottom line is, if the fact people believe this is DRM, or that they are aggrieved with the whole offline situation, that is their choice to make. It doesn't fall on forum vigilantes to 'correct the incorrect', nor to be Frontier Development's Knights in shining armour - they are quite capable of handling this themselves. People who disagree with something that doesn't actually involve them are unhelpful, and cause threads like this to expand for no useful reason.
In short, shut up and go away, because we don't need you here.
