People are being denied refunds.
And some are being given them (pre-orders at least).

Ok you are right....it will not help.
But what is now left to do ?
I can't play ED as I like...
I didn't get refund...
I didn't trust FD....
What will be next ????
Are you think all Offliner shall now leave and go ?
And is the behavior from the Onliner ok ?
Can you answer...honestly....?

Semantics aside, the only reason my "investment" has not returned the full value of what I "expected" sorry, was told I would be getting is that the people who took my money decided to unilaterally change the terms of the agreement.
It may be legal and all but it sure isn't moral and it isn't making any friends.
The folks being denied are not straight pre-orders. Anyone that has access to a downloadable copy of the game right now has bought into beta access. If all you have is a pre-order, expecting to gain access on December 16th, your refund is guaranteed. UK and EU law permits nothing else.
Thank you for you honest answer...every offliner should decide for himself. I have not decided yet. I have runned away from EVE online. partly because of multiplayer (I just can not afford sitting 1-2 hours in peace fully concentrated on the game), partly because it was not Elite. and now, Elite wants to be EVE online.
Behaviour of most "onliners" is OK. most of them are not interested on the issue since they got what they wanted. But the other part of "onliners" have some strange phobia of "offliners" ruining the game. They do not even stop and think that maybe game is permanently ruined fot "offliners". And I do not remember any "offliners" saying FDs or EDs must be destroyed now. They are only trying to protect their investments, rights and interests. And they are still Elite fans. And will always be, no matter how mistreated by FDs now when they are no longer needed.
Don't know what to do, since FDs are refusing to even discuss and settle the issue. And by doing that, they are forcing "offliners" more and more toward refund requests or even some more drastic measures (some are spoking about lawsuits if I remember correctly).
I blame FDs for the situation. They shoul'd not promised offline gameplay if they were not ever bother implementing it or were doing that half hearted. They shoul'd have been honest from the start, since it was obvious that many backers were asking about offline SP even during KS campaign.
And the way they handled this situation is just horrible! Trust into FD is severly shaken in part of fanbase. Many early backers are very dissapointed. What can they do now? First, to stop pretending that nothing is happening. second, give refunds with apology to anyone that feels decived or betrayed.
There is third posibility FDs don't even want to heard about. They coul'd start working on the standalone offline version of the game (after the release of multiplayer version) if they do not want to return the money to the "offliners".
It's as much of a guarantee as offline mode for release is.
Take of that what you will, but I would not expect it down the road in the unfortunate event that the servers go offline.

Projects must be honest and clearly presented.
Our community is built on trust and communication. Projects can’t mislead people or misrepresent facts, and creators should be candid about what they plan to accomplish.
It seems to me that following DB's Q&A today, this is where we're at:
- Offline mode is definitely out. They tried but the solutions they came up with just didnt cut it. This has upset a few folks for different reasons.
- Some folks wanted offline mode because they go long periods without any connectivity at all. These guys are out of luck.
- Some folks worry about extended periods of poor connectivity (distinct from no connectivity above) - these folks should be reassured by the answer DB gave where he reported successfully playing via a tethered cellphone on a moving train. The bandwidth requirements of solo online are quite minimal and even a dodgy connection with more latency than you'd want for multiplpayer should still work.
- Some folks are worried about "What if the servers go away? Will I still be able to play it in 30 years?" Given DB's statement in the Q&A about FD taking periodic archives of the game, including server code and galaxy state and their intention to release such an archive if they ever did decide to shut down the servers, I think we're covered here. This is all the resources needed to take over and establish community-run servers and given the community around Elite it's pretty much a no-brainer that this would happen.
- Some object on principle, regaring it as a "broken promise" or "DRM" Not sure what to say here, these guys are peeved on principle and they won't stop being peeved no matter how long we discuss it. Are you peeved enough to quit the game? Your call but if you are we'd be sorry to see you go.
- We don't wasnt to see anyone quit the game over this, we'd love to play alongside you for the next 30 years. However, quite possibly some number of folks will. Their options vary depending on how their relationship with FD stands.
- KS backers. You were investing in the project, not purchasing anything. Your investment has not returned the full extent of what you expected but that's a risk you take when investing. The "Risks and Challenges" section of the KS details should have made you aware of this. Given that disclosure I wouldn't think you'll get any of that cash back.
- Backers that bought in post-KS for the alpha and beta stages: Technically you bought into participating in the project as testers, expecting to be rewarded with a copy of the released game (plus other perks) when it finally went live. You are still entitled to that, but I can see (personal opinion) it being fair for FD to refund you the value of a release copy if you want out.
- Pre-orders: Cancel your order at the store. You'll get your money back and can walk away.
Thank you for you honest answer...
Yes I see that I maybe over react too.....but have mercy with me....I never was this Everything is awesome Type......and get sometimes in rage if I see emphatless and respectless behavior.....
I love the game also...I even refuse to talk to press this afternoon....
But I also keep my eyes open and don't believe all if they kick me more than once...

Looking like we're on target for 10,000+ posts by Friday's Newsletter.
So, basically, the ones who invested more and earlier in the game have no any rights?
