Odyssey DLC goes live tomorrow. What's the next big DLC going to be?

Possibly it will take into account the popularity of Odyssey. If Fps gameplay proves popular enough, or brings new players to the game, it will be focused. If not, other things will take priority.

Next DLCs content I would love.

Ship interiors
Planetary mining (with apropriate SRV(s)) plus GasGiant mining.
Landing on Planets with Atmospheres up to 2bar surface preassure. Assuming Earth would be blocked.
Fully reworked BGS (enabling expansion to non-populated systems and real NPC traffic)

but I don't expect those. Most of them will fall down because of Combat oriented additions. like Combat SRVs, Ship to ground weapons, and so on.

Regards,
Miklos

More response levels for the AI, more diversity for security force, a real upgrade loop for the suits, weapons and tools, a biological/geological game loop, an improved user interface, more diversity in CZ missions, proceduraly generated campaign (mixing ship and foot or not).

Now that FDev have the structure, they have to make it a real game.

I believe all the ship interiors and related features should come with leser updates during the Odyssey lifetime.

As for the next really big update (Horizons -> Odyssey -> NEXT) - I'd wish it to be about networking model change (to a full featured MMO architecture with no instancing) and introducing fully player-driven mechanics instead of the outdated and obsolete BGS/PowerPlay. Though I know it would not be a popular opinion.

If talking about more common features, well, yeah, atmospheric planets with rich biomes, exploring undergound caves, diving to the oceans in a new types of vehicles...
Promised "procedural cities" and so on.

Oh and PLEASE Fdevs allow us to make friends with goids. I'm serious, let us stop this pointless war, introduce a common enemy (the Guardians or their AIs are great for this role), allow to visit Thargoid worlds / motherships, allow to trade with them and use their ships/technologies.

It's going to be an exciting launch tomorrow - long anticipated space legs finally become a reality. Of course, it will take some time to polish game mechanics, optimize the performance and get rid of all kinds of bugs and issues, build tons of new content upon the new platform and so on.

It is way ahead of the game, however, I can't help myself but wonder - after all the above, what's the next big game expansion?

Personally, inspired by the moment when you could finally 'stretch those legs', I imagine an epic "trailer" moment when CMDR could walk land in the green fields filled with grass and flowers, disembark, hear singing birds, take the helmet off and inhale an earth-like world air, gaze into sunrise above the horizon where ocean meets the blue sky, turn around, and walk towards the big futuristic city lights with the spaceships traffic above it.

What would you like to see as a next expansion of the game world?

I'm including upgrading the VR experiance as part of odyssey, so next I'm hoping that they do another balance pass to resolve things like CQC, Multi-crew and, most importantly, Powerplay. Once that's done, Walking around ships would probably be the next one.

Based on previous leaks and/or data mined info, I reckon base building and/or some sort of single player story based expansion set in the ED world will be on the cards at some point.

Thargoids don’t make friends, they prefer to remove things.. permanently.

Love the fact you’d like to kill the Guardians though, since they were attacked by the Thargoids as well, even though they tried to communicate with them first.

We’d probably need a new species if you want to be friends with Aliens, because the Thargoids are definitely not interested.

No, expanded with the last released DLC on PC on the 19th - then with consoles in Autumn. Non-Odyssey owners on PC get Horizons 'updated' with the somewhat butchered optimisations required to run the game on last generation consoles: Everyone is happy. (I know that is a lie, but whatever!)

From there the most sensible move would be to announce ED2 arriving in 2 years - Much higher PC specifications and for current gen consoles.
That way the current players can have things unchanged, and those who really would like an improved game will get one that leverages the current and future technology well.

If Fdev has got some fundamental new tech that would totally overhaul the experience, then maybe a new game is on the cards. But also a possibility is that they chose to carry on with what we have and spend the resource on finishing off what they originally set out to do.
