Odyssey Progress

not as much as "those who enjoy the game", but they spend the day in the forum defending dad 🤣 ... what is more ridiculous ?? right now I am a user of a forum while I do other things on the pc, except playing .....
If a game that I enjoy pushes me to argue in a forum, tomorrow I will stop playing any game.
what idiocy 🤷‍♂️

every day this forum is more ridiculous, quiet, as soon as I come, I will leave .... no interest in arguing
Now that´s a great idea!
Honestly, at least some ppl arguing over Odyssey have at least played it, so this is an actual discussion, as in exchanging viewpoints and experiences.
Some feel compelled to defend a cranky game, because they feel, from their own experience, it is not quite as bad as some make it to be, including some participants that just chime in without any clue whatsoever.... (looking nonchalantly into an empty corner....)

Thumbs up!

First and foremost, I would like to apologise wholeheartedly to those who have been suffering from these problems.
How do I get a refund for Odyssey, given that it is clearly NOT fit for purpose or as described under the Sale of Goods Act / Consumer Rights Act 2015 ?

I've tried to go via Steam but they refuse quoting my total play time for the main game and Horizons DLC I bought before you included it in the base game.

If you could perhaps confirm my actual "in game" time for Odyssey (not simply sat with the launcher open), Steam will honour the refund as they should.

Failing that, I will be forced to seek redress via my card issuer.

You can probably refer to him as the "Almighty"
Sorry, but the first thing that came to mind given the recent release was Almighty F-up - not about David personally, he's had a stellar (literally) career out of a side project, and he truly has changed gaming forever in his lifetime.

But I suppose the buck stops with him.

Try contacting Frontier customer support. There's a few 'how to get a refund' threads on the forum (try a search for 'Odyssey Refund') with advice for both steam & direct customers. YMMV.

Possibly, but it's been a real disappointment to me, and massively affected my enjoyment of the base game - I've gone from playing 6 hours per night pre-Odyssey to maybe 1-2 hours during the beta, to maybe just half an hour per week since the "full release" of Odyssey.

I think I loaded the "full release" of Odyssey 3 times before putting in a refund request. It was a combination of the darkness issue, menus and suit wheel being designed by a kid with no actual real world use experience, and the appalling frame rate.

If those menus have now been put into Horizons, I'm out. Permanently.

lol
more than 140 post in two wheeks about Odyssey and you don't even have the game!
A man wasting his time in a forum talking about a game he don't even own calls others empty heads!! just lol.
I noticed space games tend to attract those kind of people. The type who obsessively spends their time hating something for weeks, months or even years on end. It's weird.

I recently bought a laptop i3 with integrated graphics 8gb. Its runs horizons but not Odysseys newer planetary tech. It would be great if it could be optimised for that. Many people have laptops and many come with integrated graphics .

The game runs fine now, I dont want FDEV downgrading the game graphics so cheapskates can run it on a 486, why dont you spend money get an RTX and enjoy gaming, so many complaints about game performance still and most are running on crap machines, what exactly can you run on a i3 laptop? maybe dungeon keeper 2 ?

Yep. 'Runs fine'. Seriously dude, this is broken. Badly, badly broken. When the CM's can't even complete a mission on a live stream because it's bugged (and they would, you might think be picking ones to show the game at its best), you know there are serious issues.

Might be a problem unique to you. I haven't seen that happen at all. How do you duplicate that issue?

Maybe FDEV should limit access to these forums to people who actually own the game. It wouldn't be that difficult to do.

TBH if the CM cant play the game on FDEV's own hardware which they possibly wrote some of the game on surely this screams on "not ready for primetime" its not "unique to you" if the developer cant even play THE GAME!!!!

CM constantly does things known to be bugged, because they themselves don't know. I strongly suspect the CMs and devs have very poor understanding of the actual end-user experience.

That sort of thing (my photo attachment) happens to me pretty much all the time in basic coriolis stations. That one is Bates Orbital in Mombalumba (or nearby system) IIRC.

It's a pretty amazing example though typically it looks more like:
ship_what.jpg

Which is literally 2 seconds before I strafed left for the pic. As I move polys randomly get culled or not.

Typically I see things flicker in and out or not get rendered correctly (see attached) - I suspect it's an occlusion volume issue of some sort.

I also get a fair amount of odd object alignment issues. I (after a good few years in programming, and about 5 in gamedev specifically) can't fathom what would cause this sort of thing:
terminal_ocd.jpg

And the same place, next visit:
terminals_youretriggeringme.jpg

Very strange. Could be a streaming issue, but why such an inconsitent offset? It's not a randomised position, the concourses are hand-designed for the most part.

And this sort of stuff is of course on top of the poor RNG balancing/checking, disappointing mechanics etc etc. And yes, this is update 5, not 'alpha', not 'release'. This is after 5 good swings at fixing stuff.
