Official Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous reveal!

I just always thought the Jurassic franchise was about bringing dinosaurs to life and at the same time create a thrill about the animals and what they were capable of. I know everything is about money in the end, but the LEGO collaborations and now this, turns the franchise into something childish, which I just doesn't feel right about. It takes something away from the majestic feel of the dinosaurs, even though I know it's for entertainment purposes and revenue.

I saw the first movie in the cinema when I was 3. I wanted to see real life dinosaurs. I hated regular animated kid dinosaurs growing up. They didn't give me the feel of real animals. I might've been a weird kid though. Not going to argue that.
I don't think that the entire thing is going for a younger audience.

Hell, there was an earlier attempt at a Jurassic Park animated series in the 90's that they only released a few stills though there are claims that they finished a pilot that never got released.

There has always been JP things aimed at younger kids, especially with the toys and books...there's even a golden book version of Jurassic Park (I bought it for my nephews recently...read it to them once, and then their dog chewed it up).

On top of what I just shared, Gizmodo.com has recently added an article yesterday about the show on what more to expect and what its aims are. The showrunners who were interviewed said that the creative advise for this very show came from, non other than, Steven Spielberg himself, the man who started the film series line for the JP franchise!

(The Gizmodo article)

Big YouTuber, Klayton Fioriti, did a video of this article where he even shared his own thoughts about the subject that, like the first video of his I shared earlier, I thought were interesting and worth checking out by my recommendation.

I finally got around to watching it, and honestly? I was invested during the whole season.

I will try not to say any spoilers, but I liked the pacing of this series and the character arcs each member goes through. And they did deliver on suspense in a way I was not expecting! I did not like the characters in the first episode, as I was worried they were to fill out basic character archetypes we see in many other shows and would not develop over time, I would say, I was hooked since the second episode, and I liked how they weave the story with the plot of the first movie. I like how the series slowly ties Jurassic World with that of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom such as the new dinosaur species. Plus I love how the conflicts done in this series do not solely revolve around dinosaurs, and included some real world struggles in there too. There were some great callbacks to the original trilogy as well, and the overall series feels like the original Jurassic Park, where the feeling of helplessness is apparent in certain segments of the series. Which does make me like the teenager cast as teenagers, as pitting characters in such such situations from a young and still developing age makes the stakes more intense. I do hope they could continue to do another season to tie the story more so to fallen kingdom.

Overall, Camp Cretaceous is still a tv series made for kids, but that does not mean adults would necessarily be put off by the setting. The series does indeed get more mature with each new episode, and the story does develop well over the course of the series. If you like the Jurassic Park Franchise growing up, I would recommend giving it a shot. It's positives does greatly outway the negatives, and the series starts to pick up the pace after introductions are made. 👍

At the time of this post, my mom and I have only seen the first three episodes, all of which was yesterday, so I really can't say much on the whole thing, but I can share some things that I took notice of without trying to spoil anything:

1. I was really shocked when there was a huge reference to Jurassic Park III which I won't say what it is for those who haven't seen it.

2. During the time of the first film, there wasn't much lore info on the new onscreen dinosaurs from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom dinosaurs (the five Nublar species), except the baryonyx to a certain extent via the viral in-universe Nublar website, but they did explore much of their lore on two of them in a basic sense which would lead up to the expanded lore around the time of Fallen Kingdom and its marketing prior to the film's release.

3. I think what people mean about the humans being more "cartoony" for one part are their eyes and over all facial expressions, but when I watched the series, whenever the camera is close to their heads, they're surprisingly pretty darn detailed! You can see how almost realistic their hair and facial spots are.

4. As what the producers and other associates said, it may be a "kids/family show", but it still feels like a Jurassic kind of show as there is peril, there are thrills, and so on. Throughout my whole life, I learned you don't always need unexpected, graphic or predictable deaths and so on that you may read or hear online just to get yourself excited or scarred or so on.
(For example, when I first watched this classic 1979 horror film four years ago, I already knew its main character would survive because I've read about it and that series many years prior, but my heart was still pounding like crazy when I watched it for the first time because of what she really had to go through in order to survive as she does.)

5. The one thing I love about most, even though it's been only three episodes for me as of now, was the character relationship development. They have conflicts because of their different personalities, some of them understand their differences and resolve around them, and becoming friends over time. Whether you like or dislike any of the characters is a completely different argument, but it's stuff like what they do and go through that can actually be more realistic than you think, because I've seen similar and similarly been there before, particularly during my school years.

My mom and I will continue to watch the rest of the series together for the next couple of days, as there are stuff in there that are, well... let's just say, very interesting...

Thinking about it, the Baryonyx didn't actually come into it, so I guess they'll be season two characters.

I think they implemented Toro pretty well, taking a fair bit from actual Carnotaurus, like not being able to take corners very well & even the fact that he goes for quick bites rather than powerful ones.

This Series could Introduce New Vehicles New Rides and Attractions for Frontier to include into Jurassic world Evolution.

Nice list. Frontier BETTER add Camp Cretaceous stuff (attractions, rides, dinosaurs) into JWE.

I don't think that we're going to get them until JWE2...the complete version is coming in a couple months, so unless there's an attached DLC thing at the time, I don't think we're getting anything.

The day to add anything Camp Cretaceous has kind of been and gone. (The Fallen Kingdom update coincided with the American release, so it's likely the Battle at Big rock update was originally going to coincide with its release too, before schedules got mucked up)

As far as can be told they are almost entirely dedicated to the Switch port until its release, and seeing as it's complete edition, I don't think it's realistic to say there'll be content after that.

In addition to what I shared above, Jurassic Outpost was also able to have a chance to talk with producer Scott Kreamer in a video uploaded four days after the show's airing. And, like with The Jurassic Park Podcast, he talks to the interviewers about what they went through and how Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous was made as it is now!

(Be warned though: This video below is not spoiler free! So, if you haven't seen the show yet, it may be a good idea for you to check it out on Netflix first, or if you have already, you can go ahead without worry!)

What do you know? A second season has been planned for due after all. Coming next year!

They did say long ago there would be more, or at least they would like to do more, should the first season be successful. I guess it was in the end, and are willing to show more, but with a second one being "premeditated", if that's what it was, already. They even showcase dinos what were in the Camp Cretaceous sub-toyline of the Primal Attack toyline: The Baryonyx (Which I "assume" will be the named trio), and even the Ceratosaurus (Which hasn't been on-screen in the JP film series since Jurassic Park III). That could also explain why some of the Camp Cretaceous toys are coming out sometime later.

I hope they reunite with Ben and Bumpy. I also wonder about Blue and Toro (maybe he’ll get to fight another medium carnivore, but they all better run when Rexy comes) as well as seeing Stygimoloch (I know the complaints of it being Pachycephalosaurus in adolescence, but it’s still a good substitute) and Triceratops (I can understand the decision to replace it with Sinoceratops, but old Three Horns is the reason similar dinosaurs are called ceratopsians).

Well, there are Stygimoloch and Triceratops action figures for Camp Cretaceous, the latter which isn't out yet. There is also Dimorphodon (mini and large) which are also released. They all didn't appear what so ever in Season 1, so I assume all three dinos will be for this season.

Plus, I'm pretty sure both Ben and Bumpy will reunite with the others. It's just a matter of knowing how and when, exactly. That's one of the things I really want to find out, by the way.

Hello, Gabe. I found these concept drawings (I know that’s far from guaranteed), and in addition to Parasaurolophus, Ankylosaurus, Carnotaurus, and now apparently Ceratosaurus, there are also Cryolophosaurus, Yutyrannus, Maiasaura, Pachycephalosaurus, Styracosaurus, and Protoceratops (now I don’t feel so bad about Stygi and Tri).

Again, I know concept art often finds itself on the cutting room floor, but here’s hoping!
Assuming we do get a sequel and more assuming we get Yutyrannus, I’m naming mine Sesshomaru. I don’t know if any of you are Inuyasha fans, but I think it’s a great name for him.

Is there another way I can View Camp Cretaceous ............WITH OUT subscribing to NETFLIX (french childporn network)
I am willing to pay for or subscribe to something else, but I wont spend my money on NETFLIX until they change ownership and policy.

Not legally no. Comcast (Universal's & Dreamworks' parent company) does have it's own streaming service, so it's a bit surprising this became a Netflix only thing, though that might change for future seasons, you never know.

It's made by Dreamworks Animation and they seem to have some sort of exclusivity deal with Netflix. So I'm guessing that's the reason?
