On the Horizon - 2.3 The Commanders Beta Livestreams

Hmm...liking the new camera options...DOF toggle? nice

Looking forward to all the little surprises I'm sure are to come out in the coming livestreams...and the following forum response to those surprises :D

Isn't there an ED mathematical equation that quantifies time, excitement level and then a return to negativity? [squeeeee]

Question: has it been necessary to redesign any of the cockpits as a result of implementing the character creator, the new camera or multicrew, or were the cockpit designs a constraint on what you could implement?
.
I think that something as basic as the character being able to sit on the seat might be a constraint on the range of body types, or that new seats might be needed, as well as having cockpit/flight deck furniture that allows the characters to move around and see all the screens they need to (although one of my favourite scenes in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was Short Round driving a getaway car with wooden blocks tied to his feet so that he could reach the pedals ...).

Michael B said a while ago that CMDRs are all fairly fit. I wouldn't expect to go full big Burtha lady space trucker with your avatar.

Ctrl+Alt+Space to exit

Don't know about anyone else but this suggests to me that it's not merely a new multi-crew focused in-cockpit camera system but a complete replacement for the old "debug" camera.

Err, hang on a sec.
Ctrl+Alt+Space is the current default toggle for the debug cam, isn't it.
So if anything, the pic suggests it will be the same (imo unintuitive and awkward) cam controls. Keyboard/controller input, rather than mouse free look.
We'll know more after the stream, hopefully.

Thanks Ed, very excited for the streams this week, can't wait to see what surprises you have for us. No pressure, just hyped.

I hope it's not just a commander selfie camera, but a full replacement for the exterior debug camera. It has to be, there is no way Frontier would troll us that badly. No Way!!! [hotas]

I'm looking more forward to the camera than multicrew, LOL!!

You must be new here. ;) :D

CMDR grnbrg.

Lol. Yeah, I think you guys are right. Dang, I was getting my hopes up for a more eamless camera control.
We'll know more tomorrow though.

Ed, can you please let us know on tomorrow's Livestream if there are any additions, changes to planetart details, cosmetics? Such as geysers in 2.2. I am asking this because such small changes are not noticable on each update and gets lost in all the changelogs if not posted in a screenshot previously.

I think the most dedicated among us usually crawl through the changelogs with obsessive glee.

So, given the camera controls, it seems like FD are throwing youtubers a bone - maybe even accomodating prospective machinima creators to some degree. :7

(...or I suppose the focus controls, etc, could just be there for character portrait (for the role panel) making purposes. :7)

To explain what I meant ...

I must confess I was expecting (sadly) a new in-cockpit camera feature just for taking multi-crew selfies (to be initiated via some new key combination) and that we'd be left with the old clunky "debug" camera still on Ctrl+Alt+Space.

However, since that screenshot shows that the new camera feature (which I'm hoping is a lot better, certainly looks it) appears to be activated (certainly closed) via the old Ctrl+Alt+Space combination it suggests to me that the new and improved camera features are completely replacing the old debug camera. This is a good thing!

So no more space helmet? Or is the helmet just removed for the camera mode? It sure would suck if she had a canopy breach lol.
