Once again 1 step forward and 5 steps back with FDev game play

Do you really plan on mining 512t of ore in one go?
My T10 only has 256t capacity and filling that causes me to lose the will to live.
Before 3.3 dropped I used a T10 as well and it took ages to fill it.
Now, I use a clipper. 128t is a decent haul for a single session of core mining for my patience, and aside from being far easier to place charges with it than something less agile, I'd be clawing my eyes out trying to hunt down yellow rocks at the sluggish pace of a T9/10.

Oh OP, don't you know you can't play your way, and you also can't post on here without being judged by the elites. It's better to keep stumm!
I think that plenty of good advice has been given here. Worth puting up with some crap from the less helpful elements to learn how to avoid another rebuy! Really hate that rebuy screen. Gaining knowledge is always going to involve some pain on this forum!

When someone (who is essentially a new player again) demonstrates they'd rather just blame the developer instead of learning the game and getting better at it, especially when the prove glaring ineptitude, mockery and laughter should be expected.
Sigh. This guy really does not understand that mockery and laughter are the wrong way to help people out. Being polite whilst providing useful tips and pointers would be a helluva lot more helpful.

OP - crap ship loadout
- doesnt understand basics of high/low wake
- 'forgets' to throttle down
- responds to peoples helpful comments with bad attitude
- Blames the game and the developers
- general all round snarkiness
No wonder people get snarky back.
Hope he continues to fly badly and lose more ships.
Isn't this just a repeat of what someone already said??

Fair enough.

If you're mainly planning to use it for laser-mining, you are going to need as many collectors as possible - whereas you only really need 4 for core mining.

If you're way out in the middle of nowhere, I guess a fuel-scoop would be required.
I'd think carefully about the benefit of an FSD Booster over the benefit of an MRP.
Maybe stick to one prospector in order to make room for an MRP.
Fitting an MGC hull will give you heaps of integrity without taking up slots for HRPs.

Took my T9 out mining and kept your suggestions in mind as I did it and I think I'm definitely going to modify to the build you suggested. Lots of solid advice you provided. Only loss will be the cargo space and I honestly won't mind not spending as long in the ring before going to unload anyway. It takes a freaking long time to fill the 512 tons I have right now.

Just gotta make the credits for it now. Bought a Cutter last week and a Corvette this week and between the two blew 1.2 billion credits...moneys a little tight and those size 8 shields aren't cheap.

While folks are feeling open to mocking and giving advice, anyone care to tell me if my current T9 build will hold up long enough to get away if I do get interdicted on the way back with a hold full of painite? It hasn't happened yet.... so I'm nervous about it.

The FSD booster is normally a hull reinforcement but I'm currently jumping out to a remote mining location so swapped a small booster in for the trip.

With pips to shields more than enough. You only need the point defense for higher ai difficulty, given you're going to be running 100% of the time you could swap it out for another booster and get yourself over 1k (just so you feel better).

Id suggest against weapons focused distributors, they're always going to be slower than your limpets.. and boosting!!

Interesting, might give that a try....
It works everytime I've done it hundreds of times without fail just make sure to slow down as much as you can preferably all the way down but anything under .10c shouldn't hurt too much. I usually do this when taking out mission based npc gankers but it works on any npc that sends you a message. I pop out my slf and deploy my hardpoints then 5-10sec later they drop in just in front of my ship with their butt in my face. Sometimes with condas and vettes I'll boost forward pinning them sideways on the nose of my ship with all guns blazing on em at point blank.

Yah, that's one change I wasn't going to make. The only exception I ever make to "always charge focused" is for my ships that will never fire weapons...and those get engine focused. I love boosting!

The PD is for any hatch-breaker limpets that get deployed, btw. I hear those are faster than a T9....and dont' want to lose cargo while I'm running away. ^.^

Possibly one more thing.. don't go that nuts with it.. because its almost getting to combat spec soon into it. Maybe think about a type 10.. with turrets its FUN (not sure about hardcore) and effective to fight with, and it will everything that type-9 build is stepping up to do and more. That same amount of work could go into a ship that also fights...

.. Though what am i saying the type-9 is legend.

Heres my unsophisiticated mining type 10. With the mining weapons swapped out to overcharged + corrosive multicannons, Apart from higher ranked anacondas it does fine in a haz res. https://s.orbis.zone/360u With general purpose spec it does +10ly jump too.. i have a hard time being in any other ship atm :)

Oh yeah with fighters.. im not sure about an npc whose decided to interdict and scan you.. but when you attack, sending a fighter on something takes aggro.. there's probably a good chance if you get interdicted, just drop a fighter at it and run...

I could be just noobing for those anacondas though.. i stopped equipping chaff and point defense probably years ago now becuase frontier (i like no hud better), using those actively will probably make you untouchable against most ai.

Then I made the mistake of not throttling down
Correct..

Just to add that your re-buy screen tells me you T-9 needs a serious buff if you want to survive an interdiction, shield or amour and well engineered. Then if this happens again you can laugh while your FSD Charges.

Yah, I have looked at a few T10 mining builds and probably will eventually add one to the fleet...just to have one.

Gotta keep the T9 though, I bought it because I wanted a T9, not for any other reason. I didn't really need it, my Python is a champ at mining, I just wanted one. And, I gotta say, I love flying the thing, something about piloting the big heavy oxen that it is appeals to me. No chance I'll ever just ditch it now that I have one.

I really like flying the "large" ships, whether it be mining in the T9, trading in the Cutter, fighting in the Corvette or taking tourists out in the Beluga. Just a matter of time before I figure out a place for a T10 in the fleet too. Only large ship not currently in consideration is an Anaconda....they are too popular so the hipster in me is just not interested.

Honestly, that's why I sympathize a little with OP.. he just wanted to do some trading in the big ol' T9 "just cause". Just made a few mistakes in the process and paid the price.

Yeah for the bulk of my years playing elite i felt exactly the same. I keep d rated thrusters on the type-9 and cutter for that reason..to actually feel like you're flying a ship that matches up with the lore, less than some combat gameplay balanced video game. I completely understand.

Don't rush finding the type 10, just do it sometime before you quit. That is all :)

From the same mindset, the anaconda is an interesting one. I'll fix it for you, it can have similar large ship handling if you downgrade the thrusters enough. That's how i started to be honest, i read some reddit poster complaining about the handling and got over my hipsterness too. There are good things about the ship, but it also is just as forgettable too. The best thing about it is the outfitting, and how it looks from the SRV.. one of the best ships in the game for buggy gawking.

You're right, tho the last sentence was a bit mean, probably should have left it at "...get snarky back." That would have made your point more effectively.
Have you read the OPs posts... Downright snaeky to me.
And its ok. I forgive you for telling me how to speak and think.
Off you go now.
Close the space hatch on your way out.

I feel the same way about my vette atm can't ever find a reason to jump in any of my other ships. Have every ship half of which have full g5 engineering and even with my cutter having 2x as much shields I feel safer in the vette. I mainly do combat missions and it outclasses the other 2 imo at least ymmv.

Uhuh,

It's kind of a shame that building a T9 is only ever really a "vanity project" rather than there being a compelling reason to fly one.

As I said, it'd be nice if FDev could, perhaps, find a way to increase it's cargo capacity beyond what a Cutter can carry and then come up with some kind of cargo-transport gameplay that would reward it's use or, perhaps, come up with some kind of "bulk mining" system that'd suit the T9.
I have two, which saw a lot of use at trade CGs (I have two so I could participate in two different trade CGs and then zip between them in, say, a DBX) but the end of CGs saw an end to my regular use of the T9s.

What it really needs, IMO, is something that it's especially suited for but which a player would struggle to do alone, in Solo.
Create, say, highly-paid bulk-cargo missions which require the player to transport 1,000t of cargo all at once (after buffing the T9 so it can carry this amount of cargo) but which attract enemies that will mince a T9 easily, thus requiring the player to wing-up with a couple of armed-escorts.
Do that and you create a reason to build a T9, a reason for players to work together and a viable alternative to mining for generating credits.

A little tip about mining troubles. If you play solo or in private groups, but usually it also works in open. Don't mine in resource extraction points. Use the detailed surface probes and find a ring hot-spot with the stuff you want to mine. Drop in there, with cargo empty. Pirates may appear, but they will just mumble about your empty cargo and leave. Then fly in one direction until you are far away from the hot-spot entry point. If you mine there, far away, in a place where your ship doesn't appear on radars, no one will hassle you. The game will still generate meteors for you to mine. After that, you only have to take care with interceptions on the way back to station.
