Panther Clipper? Pit-Con.

Internalize the size of the mail-slot. Become aware of the dimensions of a large landing pad, including over-all height. Those would be the constraints of whatever large hauler we might see. FDev isn't going to invent an entire mechanic, loading via umbilical or any such, just to release a playable ship. IMO, of course.
Well, instead you could think about how not cuboid-like the Type-9 is. That's so much more true for the Cutter.
Then think about how much more cargo you could fit into either ship if you took their maximum dimensions (width/height/length) and converted them to a cuboid with the same overall dimensions.
Bingo, a huge increase on the 794 t capacity of the Cutter or the 790 t of the Type-9... And trivially fitting through the mail slot without even having to increase anything wrt either ship... (If I had to guess, I'd guess that the Cutter's total volume is well under 25% of the cuboid with same W/H/L.)

I have a feeling the landing gears will be under the hull, the engines are lifted above ground, maybe to accommodate already existing landing pads, but getting it through the keyslot will still be a challenge, it's a massive ship!

Ship this big should not fit into mail slot. She should only be able to land in planetary ports, carriers and new external large landing pads on the biggest stations (external to make them not spinning). Going to hangars only in planetary ports, no space for it everywhere else.

FDEV is famous to deliver ships with some sort of twist. If for example it has approx twice the payload of a fully kitted T9 but moves half as „fast“ there wouldn‘t be much of a benefit, wouldn’t it? Aside from the salt lakes to harvest…:devilish:

This is likely a large ship. If they add extra-large ships then they could add external docking outside stations.

You could land at a star port in F:E2, why not in ED?

A little something from the history books:

I wonder if we’ll get a Panther Owner’s Group decal? 😁

Yeah, I can see a purpose built, modern shipper, I just kinda mention that we pretty much know the dimensions already. I'm guessing around 1k cargo w/ defenses, maybe 1200 without. Ya gotta leave room for the cup holders.

Well, if you look at this pic of my Type-9 on the pad a moment ago you might be willing to go a little higher.
I reckon it occupies less than half of the pad area, and if you account for not-cuboidness (tapering in multiple directions) I'd say that might add another factor of 2 - for a grand total of over 3000 units of cargo being easily compatible with the pad area and mailslot dimensions... :)

Yep room to cut and shut two T9s together lengthways.

its not the panther clipper. (but I am hoping I am wrong! Cross fingers!)
The engine with landing gear attached to it swivelling is something present on the cheiftain/crusader/challanger.
Examining the pic shows a 2nd engine-plus-landing gear combo blurrily in the backround.

Super heavy ship designed by the Alliance department in Lakon, possibly alliance wanting to challange imperial/federal incursions with something big with SCO improvements so it can GET TO the fight and GET BACK faster than any fed/imp military ship.
From a strategic point of view having a fast responding military is critical when the galaxy is expanding due to newfound improvements in construction and colonization...
Regardless of ethos on invasions and/or defense... Better to be a warrior plowing a field than a farmer fighting a war.

Regardless of what, who, when or where... its definitely a BIG ship.
