Pilot Ejection Table - For those who want some risk in their game!

Not sure what you mean in terms of difference between eng-DB and outcome.

The top option of eng_GB will hopefully allow for translation of the site into different languages in the future. At the moment there is only one translation / language option (English British or en_GB).
That's what I meant.

Some more updates to the web version:
http://www.trainsimdev.com/elite/

* Form is now prettied up. I have done some fancy autoscaling of the font to try and make it fit on more screen sizes. Let me know if this is not working for people or looks bad. Not sure how well it is supported in browsers. Working fine in chrome for me.
* Simple stats are now saved each time a form is succesfully completed the outcome is counted to show the quantity and percentage of each outcome that has occured
* Random image from all those available is now loaded to go underneath the form.

All feedback welcome.

Wow! Looks great!! Tried it out on mobile and PC, works fine on both!:)

Mossfoot, those text blurbs read like one of those "Choose Your Own Adventure" novels from the 80s. I think they're great. :) Although frankly, just losing my ship is traumatic enough for me without all that extra pain!

Well, I have found that this will teach you when to know to run. I was fighting an Anaconda last night in an A spec Asp with Military bulkheads. I'd fought one before and when my shields went down, he was low on hull too so I kept it up. But last night, my shields went down before his. Don't know what he was packing. After about 2 seconds, I realized there was no way I was going to win and knowing I could lose it all and actually die (requiring a wipe save), I turned tail and ran like a yellow dog. And I'm not ashamed of it. Running when you know you can't win is not dishonorable. It's known as living to fight another day.

Updated the web version again. FOund a bug with the modifier calculations (sorry). All modifiers were increased by +1 making it slightly more likely that you would survive when you should not. According to the stats I log only 9 people have had a survival since I started logging outcomes so upto 9 people have survived when they should not!

Sorry about... I will try harder to kill you next time ;)

Anyway here is the change log:
* only load 1 image now and that is set as the background. Before I was loading 3 images and overlaying the txt onto them which was a crazy way just to set a background image. 1 image saves on page load time and looks better!
* removed the bug where additional values could (and were) added to the modifiers depending on settings in the form that were not related to modifiers
* Improved the detail given to the user if they choose to "Show Calculations" and see how the outcome was reached (this is how I spotted the bug)

Now if anyone does feel like translating the web page it can be done fairly easily. I just have a few files to send to you and once translated just send them back and I will upload them.... anybody fancy the challenge? Not essential I guess as chrome for example has built in translation via google translate.

Text of the options are impossible to read without selecting the text due to it being black type on a dark image.

I am not getting that. Could you post a screenshot and let me know which browser you are using. I did do a number of changes to the style sheet so I could have broken something.

Jim

*edit*
Also try pressing F5 in the browser to refresh and if that does not fix try CTRL + F5 (forced refresh). You may have a cashed older version of the style sheet that is being used on a new version of the page.

Looking better again!:) Oh, and at least 2 of those survivals are me. :p (from just random testing)

Cached older version was the problem. I pressed Ctrl F5 and it came up looking good. My bad. Thanks. I'm using the new Edge browser and still haven't figured the ins and outs of it. Still haven't figured out how to have it fetch a current copy of the page each time I visit. Never have liked that cache scheme for internet browsing. Pages change so often.

General cleaning up of front page, plus removed "Work in progress" from No3kins' web program. Looks good enough to me to call a release ;)

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this page with ideas, programs, or just general support :)

Yes indeed thanks you everyone for your help getting it up and running. A "credits" page is on the list of things to do so hopefully will be up soon.

SRV: is skimmer / turret death the same as combat?

I would say so. If a skimmer or turret killed you then they were treating you as hostile even if you have not fired upon them. You are in combat weather you choose to fight or flee. If you crashed into a turret and ended up exploding because of the crash then this is about the only thing I can think of that would involved death by turret that is not "combat" but "crash".

Hope that helps.

@mossfoot. Quick question. Is advanced Ironman mode applicable to SRV. After all if you explode in an SRV surely but the gods allow you to survive I can not see any reason why you would not keep your space ship.

Shall I remove the advanced Ironman option from the SRV form on the web version?

What if you crash in combat?

It is a personal thing I guess but my view would be you crashed in a combat situation so it should be treated as combat. You have hostile people attacking you so you are less likely to be rescued as opposed to crashing near a non hostile bases where hopefully they will come and rescue you rather than leave you to your fate. The tables and tools available are a guide and I think players should apply them as they see fit. We can't account for every scenario that can occur so apply things as vest you can.

I was kind of joking. ;)

This is a very serious matter. It's not a game you know! I hope one day we meet in space so we can test each others metal....

;)

Yes, the SRV is not subject to Advanced Ironman mode, because your ship was not destroyed (in fact it came to pick you up).

And I agreed that crashed in combat = combat. The reason combat has a higher danger rating is because of the lasers/bullets/etc flying around in the mix, threatening to hit you even after you eject, and accounting for the slim possibility that an enemy tracked down your pod and finished you off (strictly a RP thing, mind you, since that can't happen in game currently).

But there is no reason for those to stack. Combat already accounts for dangerous flying/driving as part of the risk factor.
