I'm currently in the process of developing some tools for .ovl editing, though its still in its very early stages and not something I can yet release for other people. Slowly but surely progress is being made though. [big grin]

is this an open source project that you could put on github? I would love to take a look at it and maybe even contribute

First of all a million thanks to GregorBurns for all his genius work on this!! All credits go to him :D

He trusted me enough to let me play with his mod tool and i was able to do something pretty amazing :

I added a shop item to the Pipshot water shop :

What kind of an effect are you able to add for "lemon" or is it just mostly for show? Can you change behaviors like lemons making people more thirsty or how much it costs to add them?

I love those extras though for water! "Cucumber Melon" would be a good one too

You can indeed change the effect of the items, Vampiro has been playing around with that. He made the toilets increase nausea so everyone came out feeling sick [haha]

The values he's editing are all located in some SQLite databases that are stored within the main OVL files. It seems these contain "keys" for linking to objects in the game. So currently we can swap items by changing the name of the object they refer to in the database, but it's still not possible to actually add a completely new model/texture for the item, or add a new shop model etc. However I am working on that as we speak.

Yes indeed. All extra's on stuff do stuff for hunger / thirst / happyness/ toilet, etc etc ...

The new item isn't an exeption, i can set all parameters for it :) Like Greg said, we already managed to make guests sick from toilets for example. Or have a drink stall sell pizza :p It's all pretty much possible.
We are just stuck with the textures that are in the game already. (for now)

This is awesome! Keep it up, excited to see what you have in store [big grin]! I'm someone coming from No Limits, and seeing that there is modding taking place is exciting. Hopefully custom scenery and more work to tracks can be done as well; loving the coaster restriction mod... that is honestly needed desperately!

We don't have anything in game that tells us how much of which item sold, do we?

A big question I have about "parameters" is are you (Gregor) able to see (and set) what a shop is set for in regards to peep needs? Like, if your drink stall sells pizza, do the peeps know that both thirst and hunger can be satisfied at that shop? Will peeps go there just to buy pizza? Is there a parameter for popularity? Is there a parameter to change to make Donuts more poular? I also assume, by how the game works, if you sell coffee at Missy Good's...peeps are only able to buy one item to satisfy one need. So they would have to get back in line to buy the other need fulfilling item. To me, while its a great find, I'd still rather put Street fox Coffee next to Missy Good. Otherwise you would have twice as many people lining up for one shop, and you would still need to put in another shop to handle the demand.
