Planet Coaster - Spring Update

DLC???

While the list up at the top is great, and more than enough free content, I wonder about this line

"We will also be introducing cosmetic optional purchases for those of you who want to give your parks that little extra personality! "

and if that DLC will also be available on April 11th for purchase at that time.

Though of course more content for free on the 11th besides that listed would be great. Just reading the email newsletter today suggests that more than 1 new staff type should be coming, though the newsletter could be poorly written.

Probably in the future. Sam Denney stated in the first PAX livestream that they believe the "core" game is not completed yet.

And comparing the Alpha release in march last year and the "extra" content we got on the release date I wonder how much extra we really could expect this April.

I think there will be another free update later (this year) and maybe after that maybe some smaller ones, but by that time it would probably be optional purchases.

I think the term "Cosmetic" tells it all. I believe items like theme skins or outright specific scenery may come with a paywall. I believe however for the forseeable future we will continue to get rides and new animations for free.

With that said I do believe there will most likely be a cut off point. That may allude back to the idea of core game completion. If the developer feels core items are missing they will hopefully continue to fill in those "gaps" for free. Once that gap is filled, however I can see those being considered extra content.

For the most part I'd be ok with that. I guess its going to come down to peoples vs developers expectations on whats a complete core game. Personally I have no issues paying more for extra rides. At this point i have almost everything i've come to expect (ride wise) in the core game. The go-karts and launched coasters were two of my biggest gripes. If they add a bob slead, staple chase, observation tour, slide and a VR ride I'd say Id have everything id need.

And would happily pay for anything outside of those. Again these are purely my opinion.

Hopefully we have at least two more content updates with free stuffs..

theres a thread about that here - https://forums.planetcoaster.com/sh...ut-Paid-Add-On-Content-and-Workshop-Downloads

Did Sam say that? I think the April update looks very promising, especially since there is still more they haven't shown us [up]

I'm thinking at some point they will release larger sized DLC add-ons similar to the expansions of RCT3, at least thats what I'm really really hoping for anyway. Right now they are still fleshing out the base game, and hopefully well still get some free updates sprinkled in here and there, but I really want pools and water parks! And I also really really want a scenario editor too!!! The only thing we know that is confirmed for certain is a UGC Editor of some kind which will be so amazing, but they need to release more content before they unleash UGC [yesnod]

Are they having any plans for better managment? Its still gamebreaking for me for not being able to build a park with just entrance fee and free rides without slowely going bankrupt. Also having free entrance fee and paid ticket rides, makes way to much money. It feels SO unbalanced to me. I rather had managment changes than new rides in aprils update tbh. Am I wrong?

There is no right or wrong. People play the game for different reasons.

There are similar issues for people in Cities Skylines. Best you can do is voice your wishes, (respectfully or course), try to be specific and hope they add it to the game.

For me management is super close to what I'd like. Im always open for more, if i dont get it I wont loose any sleep.

Im with Creeper, we need UGC we need a scenario editor. Those will be key to keeping this game alive for a long time...

there are a lot of people who would agree, but not enough I think, most people are content with the game as is and dont want more management (at least on these forums) but then again look here https://www.reddit.com/r/tycoon/comments/5zfjl2/planet_coaster_is_not_that_good_at_managment/

Well, I would be a lot more content with the game if I could just ask entrance fee on my park instead of pricing all individual rides. Its prettyt ridicolous that people don't want to pay 20 bucks entrance fee for 6 freerides, bur rather pay 15 bucks per ride. Such a wiiieeerd system :(

Is there any tips in order to make a park work with just entrance fee with a decent but not overdone income?

Paid entrance doesnt work that well because guests dont leave the park often enough. If you want guests to reach the back of large parks they need to remain in your park for a long time, but then you wont be getting any new guests. It took me a while to get used to setting the price per ride, but its really the more profitable choice

I've been using that and found my profits have increased and guests seem happy too

Me too. Even if it seems there's more builder, I still hope to have better management part. This game has so much potential that I really hope they'll not stop there and add better career mode, competition against AI, scenario editor, more information in UI, balancing the gameplay, etc.

I'll see in the april update if they also have interest on this side of the game or if they're happy like it is.

Are there plans for more flat ride and content updates this year after the April one? I hope so, maybe July or August. A Halloween update for October. This new update proves that they are delivering on their promises, unlike the other guys.

I'd hate to wait all the way until Halloween for haunted scenery though. I need some soon for my park. <<fingers crossed!>> [big grin]

Will the Crime and Vandalism feature be the default or can it be toggled?
This is one aspect of the new upgrade that would seem to be a user's choice.

It's not the same teams working on those features though is it (as far as I'm aware)? Any ride additions doesn't affect anything they may add management wise.

Who are "These guys"? I can't see the attachment... [ugh]

Ah, seems to be linking to the Coaster Head Club forum. Try the below:

In sandbox mode they've said it can be disabled if required, not sure about other modes.

As long as the Barbershop Quartet isn't animatronics, I'll be happy. That is if they're added into the game. Now I would love if more mascots were added like Missy Good, a mascot for Pizza Pen, and a mascot for Pipshot and Hotdog Squad. I'm a fan of entertainment for my guests.

Paid entrance works great for me. I started with free entry and paid rides at the beggining to nail down at least some basic rides. It is important to consider shops as well, as they can play important role once you make rides free and entry paid. At the beggining, it is a bit rough, but pretty much doable. You just have to cut on expenses for a year or two and it is well worth to invest into some marketing.

I don´t understand people who keep saying it´s unplayable this way, because it is pretty much playable. I´m the proof and many other people did it too.
