Planet Zoo 2 Roster Game

Seeing some of the other threads recently I think we need a more game style thread to keep things going and make the forums actually enjoyable again lol.

So I have made a game similar to the PZ Award show that revolves around the roster of Planet Zoo 2. Here’s how it works:

Every day I will post a random animal from Planet Zoo 1. Your job is to pick 1 of 4 categories that the animal fits into, and at the beginning of the next day I will reveal where I myself put it and why, then throw out a new animal to do the same thing.​

  • Doesn’t need to make it but sure

  • Hill Radnor Sheep (Consensus: Essential for Base Game or saved for DLC)
  • Tasmanian Devil (Consensus: Essential or DLC)
  • Galapagos Giant Tortoise (Consensus: Essential)
  • European Badger (Consensus: Save for Deluxe or DLC)
  • Bonobo (Consenus: Left out of the game entirely or saved for DLC later down the line)
  • Gemsbok (Consensus: Essential or be swapped out for another similar African ungulate for example Arabian Oryx)
  • Clouded Leopard (Consensus: Saved for DLC)
  • Dama Gazelle (Consensus: Doesn’t need to make it but sure)
  • Polar Bear (Consensus: Very essential to the Base Game)
  • Takin (Consensus: Potentially saved for DLC)
  • Southern White Rhinoceros (Consensus: Very essential to the base game)
  • Cougar (Consensus: Save for DLC or Essential for base game)
  • American Bison (Consensus: Very essential to the Base Game)
  • Striped Hyena (Consensus: Potentially saved for DLC)
  • Red Necked Wallaby (Consensus: Essential or Deluxe)

  • Common Wombat (Consensus: Essential or Saved for DLC/Deluxe)
  • European Fallow Deer (Consensus: Essential or maybe saved for DLC if Red Deer is in base game instead)
  • Wisent (Consensus: Mixed opinions, most think it should be included either essential or in a DLC)
  • Giant Otter (Consensus: Saved for DLC, Asian Small Clawed Otter should be priority for base game otter.)
  • Siamang (Consensus: Saved for DLC, Lar Gibbon should be priority for base game gibbon species.)
  • Coquerel's Sifaka (Consensus: Saved for DLC or Essential but absolutely must get a fix for the climbing)
  • Dromedary Camel (Consensus: Essential for Base Game)
  • Wild Water Buffalo (Consensus: Contraversial; some say swap out for domestic version, others say completely swap it for another wetlands ungulate, and others say it needs to make it in base game or for DLC)
  • Somali Wild Ass (Consensus: Saved for DLC or Essential)
  • North Island Brown Kiwi (Consensus: Mixed opinions - some say essential, others say can wait for a DLC or doesn't need to make it in)
  • Nyala (Consensus: Essential or saved for DLC)

The markhor is quite tricky for me the pin down for me personally. In a vacuum, it's a great roster choice. But with alpine goats and alpine ibexes, that's a lot of Capra for one roster. So my sentiment is thus:
  • Markhors are good for the base game, as they're the only present Capra species that's Asian
  • Alpine goats should also stay, domesticated animals are great for a zoo game
  • Alpine ibexes are thus left as the weakest thread and therefore the most expendable IMO

I wouldn't say it's essential for the base roster it would make sense to have it. But it could be a nice ungulates filler in an Asian DLC.It's really an in between the first two categories.

First off thank you for making this thread!

I'm going to actually say essential, which is a bit surprising to me tbh. I think it is the strongest caprid we have in the game so why not have it in the base game? However, I personally wouldn't be super disappointed if we didn't get it straight away.

I'm going to say essential, the Markhor is clearly an iconic zoo game animal (it's in both Zoo Tycoon games as well as PZ) and is generally pretty charismatic with it's swirly horns. I think a goat of some kind would definitely be necessary in the base game and this species is from the most famous mountains of all and goes hand in hand with the snow leopard. I think all that considered it should probably make it.

Oof very hard to say imo.
It has a decent model that with a couple tweaks could just be used for pz2, so cutting it would be just cutting for cuttings sake.
But i dont see it really as a must have inclusion in the basegame and i personally need it to be there either. Should be in PZ2 sooner or later tho.

So save for DLC
