Planet Zoo 2 Speculation and ideas

The main obstacle is really gonna be that PZ1 has like 20 DLC's worth of content and free updates, which is a lot. The PC fans already went feral because they didn't include the original themes. It's gonna be even tougher for PZ to satisfy it's fanbase when they can't bring all the content back we already have in PZ1. And if PZ2 is coming out next year you would really have to convince the playerbase to follow, even when PZ1 is still working like a charm and is still being played consistently by the fanbase.

PZ2 with a new path system, aviaries, aquariums, indoor buildings, and hopefully revamped exhibits, and maybe even petting zoos (hey added these to JWE3) would be such an amazing new start I'd be fine not getting all content back immediately. I still hold out hope for Planet Sealife though. I don't think aquatics can get justice when they are just part of a zoo game.

So following the awesome announcement of PC2, let's discuss PZ2. Here are soem questions:
  1. What do you think will be in PZ2?
  2. What will be the key new features?
  3. How much of the current roster will transfer to the sequel?
  4. What are your hopes?
  5. What do you hope not to see in a sequel?
  6. What feature from what's announced in PC2 will you want in PZ2?
  7. What do you think will be the base roster of the sequel? And how many species?
1. Flying birds, fully aquatic animals(Fish, reptiles, crustaceans, cepholapods, mammals)
2. Aviary and aquarium basin mechanic, zookeeper mode, riding cart around the zoo, scaling
3. All base game, anniversary, deluxe animals,
4. All the current DLC animals returning be it through updates, new and better exhibit system,
5. Rebuying the same DLC from last DLC's
6. Brush tool, scaling
7. 20+ Birds and 15+ Aquatic animals

I would love to see some meaningful flexibility in how we create the environment within and around our zoos.

I continue to love Planet Zoo but this basic inflexibility drives me crazy. Flying islands? Sure! Tropical looking soil for your ocelot enclosure floor? No way!

So I’d like to see:

* Ability to select own palate of biome textures. The number of times I have wanted to add the tropical soil to a temperate map…

* Ability to manually select temperature so that the snow doesn’t suddenly disappear on a temperate map once it tops actually snowing. Weather in the game is beautiful but it’s also a real immersion breaker when the only functional winter zoos are at the Poles.

* An option to select guests and staff dressed appropriately for the weather. I don’t have PC2 but are the water park swimming costumes something along these lines?

* Autumn and winter versions of deciduous trees. Actual separate models, not trees that manically go through the seasons according to game time.

* Less dramatic map backgrounds. I’ve said it a million times but however beautiful they are, sometimes I just want a plain flat-ish zoo without tonnes going on in the background.

Ooh, I love all of these

+ Temperature control via the enclosure, as is the case with exhibits. (Energy costs can then be billed based on the enclosure size and set temperature.)
I find it really, REALLY annoying to have 30+ small air conditioners hidden in a Polar Bear enclosure, only to then still have a small one left over somewhere and get the message "Polar Bear 25 is too warm."

My roster prediction is simple
going for some statistics
Planet Zoo base game all: 77 + 3 deluxe
Planet Zoo base game exhibit: 23
Planet Zoo current roster: 210
JWE1: 38 + 5
JWE2: 79 + 5 deluxe
JWE2 with everything: 122
JWE3: 82 + 4 deluxe

So while are current Planet Zoo is the first, its big roster makes it more like the transition from JWE2 to JWE3, with about 90-100 base game for PZ2, and about 20-30 being exhibits.

So with all that said, here is my roster prediction, with a mix of new and old, as well as flying animals

If we get Planet Zoo 2 with the base game and year 1 animals but they don't update the models I'm not buying it.

Oh please! Don't tell me you wouldn't be totally in for this! (and no, this isn't a official, "leaked" picture. It was made by Google Gemini...and me, a lot of work by me 😄 )

Thanks for your feedback. My goal wasn't to promote generative AI per se, but simply to visualize my vision for a possible Planet Zoo 2 in a way that would be nearly impossible for me without such tools. It's meant to serve as a source of inspiration and stimulate discussion about possible future features, not to replace professional artists.
