I'll just spill the beans. There are two questions that people want to see answered:
1. What exactly happened with the 'summer beta release' (mis)information? And no, Bo did not answer that question, she sidestepped it.
2. What is the actual reason for making people unable to play the beta in those last few weeks before the full release? It is not at all obvious or intuitive why this should be the case. A blanket statement that 'it is the best way to X' does not answer the question.

So here are two points with regards to which people's expectations were frustrated. Frustrated expectations arouse questions. The reason people want to know the answers to these questions is not necessarily rational, it is relational. They want to confirm that they can trust you. Continuously missing their point is counterproductive if you want to build a business relationship with them.

I will say this though for the benefit of those that are new to FDev games and experiencing negative feelings "get used to it:" and for those giving them the benefit of doubt this time, you will join us negative Nancy's & Normans soon(TM).

It will not run.

You have to start this from Steam, so I suppose there won't be a connection with Steam to run the game.

Thank you very much Frontier for the new video and for the announcement of the Beta. I read the comments and I find everything so funny, the truth is that I would bother myself for a skin, for a malfunction, for technical issues directly from the game, since that's where I expect quality, then when reading the plea for the date of the beta ... aaaaahhh I hope the game works as well as possible and that is what really matters. Greetings Frontier and here I will be attentive to everything. Thank you.

Thank you for this!! I am so excited for Franchise Mode and Trading! Holy crap EVERYTHING that has come out about this game has me more excited than the last!

Happy to answer your questions, as we're not going to discuss your take on community management. We're here to talk about the game, and share our passion about what we make, in a positive way :D!

1. As explained in a previous answer, the game is in development. Things take longer than intended, you can run into problems - things never go perfectly. While the initial intention may have been late Summer, it simply isn't feasible to give you a build that isn't functioning perfectly and lets everyone enjoy the game to the max.
2. This is so we can iron out any final bugs you have reported, problems you have encountered, or simply valuable feedback that has been given.

Let's focus on an amazing month ahead as well as all the other loveliness and positivity coming from Gamescom this week. We're very happy to share it all with you.

I see lots of people here complaining about the beta not being in the summer, but I don't think the beta had a confirmed release window before. I looked back on all the earlier trailers, and they never mentioned the beta was a summer beta. Not to mention, betas are basically limited time demos of games.. and your not really paying for the beta. When buying the deluxe edition, your paying for the Sound track and the three extra animals. The beta basically comes free.

Are there going to be more surprises like more animal reveals or new themes during the gamescom?

Question for you Frontier :
Will you ever improve upon the Lions?

(for example your team did a really amazing and outstanding job on the Zebras or Lemurs and so on but not so much on the Lions..the Lions are kinda off compared to the rest of animals you created).

I guess tonight at 20:00 PM CEST we'll see more stuff with the Career mode and Franchise mode (or what was it called)? Perhaps we'll see more cute animals on that livestream just like the wildebeest and African Wild Dogs on E3 :D

Looking forward to playing the beta but have to be honest, it is disappointing that it is limited to 2 weeks, lets not forget that having an open timeframe like with planet coaster resulted in lots of bugs being found and made for a great release version so that is the point i dont get. It would make more sense to keep the beta gling with maybe weekly updates and weekly feedback so things can get fixed for the next update. After all it is what made planet claster such a succes. Maybe the dev team can re think about this. But beside that im happy we can atleast play 2 weeks
