Planet Zoo: Europe Pack and Update 1.8 Out Now!

We need lots of different types of guest gates; glass, metal, solid wood, and so on... I'm tired of making buildings out of brick and metal, only to use doors that look like they belong on a decorative fence...
You don't really need to use the guest gate at all. You can build a door out of a glass wall/whatever you want and the guests will walk right through it (so long as there's a path) but the animals can't. I haven't used the guest gate in ages. I either build a fake door or a fake gate out of fences - looks much better, isn't finiky around connecting to the path and I can build it any style or location.

So I played with the badgers a bit, they are really cute and amazingly animated, however as they are very social oriented, I noticed they somehow lack any social interactions? Or did anyone else see them playing or something else than the mating animation?

Also, they do not have alot of enrichment options, on the Steam page it says "and Eurasian lynx and European badgers can use the rough surfaces of Rubbing Pad Bark to scratch their itches". But this is not reflected in game as its not listed in their enrichment in the zoopedia or the tags on the rubbing pad. Is this a bug?

Ahhh ... did you research the animal? All new animals and new pieces need either vet research or mech. research done before you can access the higher level enrichment items (or the new building pieces).

The lack of social behavior is a bummer, though, but that's a problem across the whole game. Most animals in zoos are fairly social - otherwise they'd have trouble tolerating the zoo environment in the first place.

That screenshot is taken from sandbox, so these are basically all the options. As you can see, there is not much.

True, but having a working guest gate would be better because the doors will swing open when guests go through instead of them phasing through a glass wall.
Plus, it's needed anyways because it looks weird to have a wooden guest gate with a concrete wall. At the very least we need glass and metal guest gates

True but, between the restrictions and sheer ugliness of the existing gate, the various other unrealistic things about the zoo ... walking through the wall seems fairly minor to me.

Created a ticket on the Issue Tracker about the missing enrichment for European Badger is anyone wants to vote:

The link goes to the main issue tracker page and I can't find the specific issue for the badger.

On the steam page, the description says the European badger can use the bark rub item, but on the detailed notes of the DLC posted on this forum the badger is not included in the list. @Jens Erik @Eltanin Casciani can you clarify this please?

Anyone else experiencing more "escapes" than usual since the update? This is the first day I've had to actually play a good bit instead of just exploring and figuring out the restaurants.
Yeah, I noticed that in the timed scenario... The animals kept just walking through all kinds of habitat barriers and no matter how often I changed or deleted them it just kept happening. Especially my wolves and lynx seemed to love walking through a solid concrete wall and then go for a swim on the other side. Really annoying.

Yup, I more meant none actual escapes, like they're fully in the habitat but the game marks them as escaped anyways, but I am also getting more actual escapes too.

on the first scenario, I'm used to it with the koalas, sad as it is as they're one of my favorites, but this has been several species. Every 2-3 minutes getting an escape alert, on slow speed.

My badger mum just gave birth in a burrow, but the babies walked straight out into the habitat. Aren't they supposed to stay? Or was that because the burrow was full when the mother entered? She had a second (empty) one available, which she didn't use. They are really cute, however!

I had that a lot before the update. It still happened afterwards, but isn't a new phenomenon to me.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if burrows may have issues since it's new feature and there may need to be some minor fixes to it. I agree though, they are really cute

Oh, I saw it! And I actually wondered if it was new or if I had just never seen it before. It's adorable and one of my favourite ones :D
