With Beyond Powerplay is getting its own Bounty system. As such, it may allow another way to encourage player participation in PvP, namely by recording the number of enemy kills Commanders clock up and for their Power to award them with medals or rank stripes at certain numbers of confirmed kills. These medals could be displayed along with other decals on the left chest of a Commander's holo-me avatar's turncoat/flight suit etc.

For me, certainly, the 60m rebuy cost of my ship would be softened greatly if it had been sacrificed in the pursuit of furthering my character's in game development and I would most likely venture into Open for Powerplay a lot more.

I can already hear the cries of "but I don't want PvP to be singled out for rewards!"

...not forgetting of course the player bounty system revolves around singling players out for PvP murder. We'll forget that precedent exists.

Nice try, but I don't see how PP can possible be salvaged without fundamental mechanics changes in favour of Open play. It sounds a little cliche but frankly it's the only way it can be relevant. Until then, PP is just "BGS grind 2.0".

Baby steps :) I'll post another idea in another thread that may temporarily help things. I think I can sense FDevs dilemma, I 'think'; basically if you don't do grind how can you decide what the players actually want to do unless you appoint a Player to rule the roost and I'm sure that'll end in a blood bath. I suppose they could institute voting on everything such as which systems to Fortify using pure CC as a proper currency but then Powerplay doesn't really have any game element… just a tick box exercise. It's all rather a big catch 22 they've created for themselves I suspect.

The best suggestion I saw thus far was having an open only and a PvE (BGS only) facet to PP; for instance CZs that show only in open and trade goals or whatever that focus on BGS grinding. Let both exist at once but neither should be ignored for a power to succeed. That'd bring some kind of merit to a "PvP kills" reward, almost like having CG participation bands.

I am not at all into PvP myself, but I think your idea would be very cool for those who like to PvP.

Wouldn't hurt to allow CMDRs to receive more than the 1 million credit cap on bounties.

Is this so as to stop people form racking up bounties before jumping in a sidewinder and allowing their friends to claim them?

Getting a scan off on a player thay can rack up a bounty in the hundreds of millions, and taking them out should surely pay better than abysmal amount it pays now, it's one of those most dangerous pursuits.

At least they could award merits (maybe double) for killing CMDRs aligned to an enemy. Ive seen that suggested before and think it would make sense.
