Unlimited probes technically limits a skill-based game (which it was supposed to be) and limit the game loop.
You want life easy? Fair enough. The Advanced Scanner is automatically upgraded to your ship. Enjoy!
You want a wider game loop? Downgrade to intermediate scanner and you would need to collect and synthesize materials.
Easy
You're a new player and you don't want to synthesize? It's like in the olden days... Save enough money to buy an advanced scanner and there you go. You can anyway start exploring even if you can't afford an advanced scannner. You just need an SRV and collect 2 iron and 2 nikel to refill your probes.
It's a skill based game until you learn the skill. Then it's just a game. Even Frontier understand that. Where were all the SKILL BASED GAME people when 2.1 AI were too much skill required?
Maybe lets not play that card given how hilarious that sounds given history and context. Frontier are adding some challenge to aspects, without making it an impossible scenario.
Let's be honest. The issue is the count isn't finite. The rest of the reasons are fluid. I understand. A past me would also have a problem with it too, actually. Current me understands the bigger picture and I'm okay with it, if it means the mechanics that rely on it don't become a chore.
Because, frankly, probe use and POI/ USS will 100% make or break this update. And I reckon Frontier understand how important that is, more than people give them credit.
