For me, the best part of the video was just after the 5 minute mark when demonstrating the dynamic lighting in the Sidewinder cockpit. Were those the engines of an Anaconda?

Also did you noticed what he mention about the head search lights are lighting the imperial cruiser (5:20).... I didn't it's so fast, you have to reduce play speed to 0.5 or 0.25!

Yep, that's an Anaconda all right. (Look at the holographic projection inside of the cockpit to the left of the scanner.)

Yeah, that is actually a beautiful use of lighting. The sense of spacial room and a three dimensional environment within the cockpit area really came across. It seems like all of these ships are going to have beautifully designed cockpits. Hell, just exploring the inside of your ship area is going to be a trip in itself.

Keyboard and mouse is okay. The hard part is the mouse bit as we're incentivising pitching and rolling which doesn't lend itself well to mouse control in my opinion and it gets worse for pitch and yaw on mouse as yaw is vastly inferior in our game to pitching. I think control pad or joystick really is the way to go.

For those of us that do not have any head tracking hardware or a 'rift, are we looking at being able to use the mouse for head movement? I used to play a few flight sim combat games with that setup. Joystick/game pad - keyboard for shortcuts - joystick

I thought that looked splendid too! But I was surprised that the light didn't seem to be casting shadows of the cockpit glass frame down across the dashboard, as elsewhere in the video you could indeed see moving shadows cast from those struts.

I really must say that you guys and gals at FD have really outdone yourselves, the in-game footage is incredible considering it's (Pre) Alpha, I am now in a dilemma, 3d Tv or O:Rift ... I think I'll be ok with the X-box controller but you guys are making it hard for me to decided on how to spend my money ! .... Damn you !!!! .....:D:S

Specification of machines running the prealpha

Hello Gentlemen of Frontier Developments

Would it be possible to list the basic spec of the machines playing the pre-alpha in the latest video out of interest...?

Thank you in advance

They'll make similar concept videos for trading, etc. but spend less time on them than they did on the Damocles video, so they won't look quite as good.

If the light source is not far away has a big size like the engines of the anaconda it could be that you dont have shadows. It like having multiple light sources to eliminate shadows when they make professional photos

Well, it is pre-alpha, give em time. :D Also, being that close to those Anaconda ship engines it would turn them into a large diffused light source illuminating the cockpit. There would be not the hard shadows you get from hard point light sources.
