Sadly I haven't had much time to post around here lately, but we are reading feedback on issues and bugs.

I just bought my first Anaconda, woo!!! "It's been a long road, getting from there to here. It's been a long time, but my time is finally near!"

However.... (that's a fancy way of saying "BUT")

A large ship like the Anaconda really shows off the "LOD popping" problem that has plagued recent updates. I've been studying this for awhile, and I understand the need for DLOD, but when it happens at such a very short distance from the observer, that's just.... broken! I cannot even view my Anaconda in full, due to its size, without seeing a serious drop in LOD and thus image quality.

Now this is why you should care, Frontier - there is absolutely no point for me to spend real money on paint jobs for my ships as long as the view of these ships are reduced in quality when I back a few meters away from them. So I'm not going to patronage the Frontier Store until you fix this. I'm over being angry, so this isn't about "I'll teach you, nanana!!" No, it's just the simple question and subsequent answer of, "What's the point of buying paint (or kits or clothes) for a ship that's not properly rendered on the screen?"

What's the point of buying any aesthetics for your ship and avatar if you can't see them most of the time?

I wondered about this too, and think you might be right. I will check some of my old screen shots to compare.

My biggest bugbear has gone back to the network performance on PS4 (I blame Old Duck for getting me to check mission board performance on the PC version). Every network function on the PC is night and day to the PS4, its like the PS4 is working in some kind of emulated network mode. I know PSN can potentially add overhead but its night and day between the PC and PS4 Pro. :(

Did you get to the bottom of this?

Do you know what infuriates me. Yesterday I watched some of ChaosWulff’s last video, he plays on PC of coarse. At around the 8 minute mark he opens a mission board at a station he is allied with and it opens INSTANTLY. I’m not making it up or mean very fast. I mean instant. No load time at all. Why do we have such horrible loading times?

Get it fixed Frontier.

Well be happy you don't have a PS4 Pro since we have lost the 'Quality' mode. :D

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad you lost quality mode. The more people having problems with their graphics, the more likely Frontier will make fixing these things a priority. Hopefully "Frontier will bless us, every one!" with an upcoming patch.

So what’s this I hear about graphics lost? I had a couple months break and only been back this past week. I personally don’t see much difference.

Just a thought, I'm a noob when it comes to playing video games, I presently use a ps4 aka console. If I understand it correctly, the basic difference between a console and a gaming pc in additon to the better componets like graphic card, sound cards and of course the price. A pc because of the better componets can multitask significantly better than a console if at all. If one in the midst of playaing a game, is also recording and taking snap shots isn't that multitasking and if so, would it, could it, not be or casue an issue for something else like the graphic card in the console. I mean, the ps4 has a lot of features, but if one is going to attempt to utilize them simotaniously, it would seem that something else is going to have issues and or crash. I mean though it may take more, one can over load the best of pc's if giving to many task to do simotaniously. A console is basically a substandard cheap form of pc, right.

My connection is so old and antiquaited that I've had to turn off any and everything I could to play this game on line. And though I'll share in some of the issues that everyone seems to be having like the extremly slow board. I haven't had one of the graphic issues that some are having. And following the various post since before launch, it would seem that the player's whom utilize more of the ps4's optional features such as uploading snap shots and video recordings while playing the game seem to have more issues than those of us whom may want to but don't utilize any of the optional features that ps4 has to offer.

Like I said, it's just a thought from an inexperienced console player.

Your thinking is valid, however, the PS4 records video constantly whether you do anything with it or not. When I first learned of this, my reaction was, "I want those CPU cycles back!" However, there is no switch to turn off video recording. So even your PS4 is recording video. I can only hope that Sony has a separate processor that's dedicated to this task, so not to take away from the general performance of games.

All my woes started with 2.4 "texturegate", and I believe (pure guess) that to fix this, Frontier turned some dials, flipped some switches, and moved some sliders to change various graphic settings behind-the-scenes, which greatly reduced the minecraft textures, but it introduced other problems like bad LOD at close range, loss of framerate, and whatever the PS4 Pro folks are experiencing.

For me personally, I think I see these things because I like to look at things - details on stations, secret bases, crash sites, etc. When I'm just running cargo or doing combat in a RES, my mind is more focused on the HUD than the view out the window. Perhaps that's you - you're focused on the mission instead of the wonderful sites, so you don't notice these visual glitches. I liked to look at things in 2.3 too, and thus I have a mental image of what things used to look like and can now say in 2.4, "This, that, and the other looks like crap compared to 2.3 :("

Your pretty much right on about our difference's of looking at particular items. It's part of your game playing experience, I'll do it later simualr to a tourist. That would explain the reason I don't have the same issue, thanks.

Congrats Duck with your new Anaconda! (and Nemo with your Cutter!) Sorry you're still having texture and lod problems. I actually do still see some occasional annoying lod pops on the PC but I usually have most effects and detail turned up. (ultra setting on many) where I am using two year old mobile graphics (870) on my laptop. I just got my corvette finally last week! I could feel the extra huge hardpoint and python like maneuverability compared to the cutter. Yet the corvette doesn't boost as fast, but then the cutter often overshoots with drift and banks like a heavy airliner. So I can see where they tried to "balance" their disparate strengths. I'll probably go back to my cutter after the 'onymoon phase with the corvette wears off. Yes, I would think ps4 quality fix should be prioritized since there seemed to be a big focus on the ps4 release for a long time beforehand.
