Pushing negative reviews on SOCIAL MEDIA

That's clearly wrong, I've done all three over the lifetime of the game. At the moment I'm complaining (because the product is inadequate) and playing. Crazy stuff!
Give feedback
Give constructive criticism
Voice an opinion
Report bugs and issues through the correct reporting methods

None of those are complaining.
So I am wondering, what are YOU doing "complaining and playing" that you don't agree with me is the wrong choice?

Odyssey should not have been released as a finished product on 19 May 2021.

That's feedback, constructive criticism, an opinion and an issue report all in one. Oh, and I'm still playing too :)

Best thing players can do.
  • Dont buy ARX or buy any more Fdev games
  • Post to new FDEV games being published saying that you will not spend money on a FDev published game until there are real cultural changes in the company
  • Do above to all the social media pages of Fdev internal and published games
  • Do not recommend those games anywhere
  • On any reviews of those games, do the same explaining why FDev are a lying company
if enough people do that for long enough, that might bring a culture change - that is way more damaging to them than trying to get a lawsuit happening.

Fdev are not a company any prospective game dev should be looking at for publisher with this debacle called Odyssey
I came here to say that we should not give FDev any more money until they sort it out,it's the only language it seems they understand, but you beat me to it in style.

I can only hope that at least you know what you are blubbering about. But you seem to find yourself funny. That's a good start at least.
in case you dont get it, the "its more traditional" is the meme Arf created by saying that porting into a spaceship is "more traditional" :ROFLMAO: and yes, I find myself g hilarious tyvm :ROFLMAO:

Social media is the tool narcissists use to feel important. I want no part of any brigade of the sort, even though I have my own criticisms about Odyssey.

Just uninstall the game.
If I may draw a parallel OP - there are quite a few of us who are outspoken critics of Star Citizen and CIG. Our words have appeared in social media, youtube videos, and gaming press articles. But at the end of the day, its all just words on the wind.

SC will succeed or fail not due to our words. Its success or failure is 100% on CIG and what they do.

By the same token, rant and rave all you like. Take it to social media (many have), take it to the gaming press, take it all the way to president.

Its just words on the wind and everything is in FD's hands, not yours.

This isn't true. Along with our wallets, you can vote with your playtime.

You can vote with your time and attention, refuse to play, and uninstall the game.
It won't hurt you, as there are many, many, substitute activities/games that will give you a more pleasant ROI.

Low player numbers/churn/time will wake them up, as that - along with sales - is a key metric for the business.

Dropping player numbers like a stone may cause FDev to reflect a little more closely on what they are doing.

Ultimately it comes down to money and active players, eg: Eve Online -> https://www.pcgamer.com/eve-online-empires-of-eve-volume-2-excerpt/

The reason we can't have nice games is the people who put up with crap releases, bugs, boneheaded design, etc and defend companies that do it.
That's why they continue to do it, and get away with it.

Also, contrary to your core argument, social/media can definitely also play a part.
FDev will try to ride out this initial wave of disgust, in the hope it dies down, and they can just keep rolling along with the completely planned EDO release strategy they have in play. If the -ve social/media is sustained in any reasonable manner, it will become a major drag on them as it will carry through to impact console pre-sales marketing.

Most games drop after the initial launch, but even these rough projections appear to be outside "normal" range (or consistent with crap releases, take your pick)

But that isn't what i was responding to. Those are not words.

You missed the bit at the end, where you're also wrong about that.
If anything, coordinated social/media action can have a major impact on a company in today's environment.
Even uncoordinated social/media can, as it can evolve in unpredictable ways.

So far, bad reviews have been very genuine - just gamers that got tricked into buying this mess.
I don't see a need to push negative reviews. I'm not on a personal vendetta against fdev, and I hope they do clean this up as NMS / Hello games did.

But I won't be silent and will express MY opinion here and in other forums

I'll disagree about that part. It will blow over. It always does. Especially as FD go on to fix the major issues. Those who are really disgruntled will move on with their lives while those who are happy with the fixes will get on with playing the game.

And this is exactly why they released it as they did. Slow hand clap.
Nice passive-aggressive dig there too, at the "really disgruntled".

FDev gambled there's enough people who will "put up with it", thereby reinforcing their decision process as correct.
You can see this from the "roadmap" post as well.

Coordinated social media action does not make developers to make lines quality code even one iota faster. Only thing it can possibly do is to damage the brand/company.

Who mentioned code? Not me.
That's got nothing to do with it, at least in the short term. Code is a consequence of decisions made higher up the chain. It's where those design/project & product management/deployment decisions are being made is where the problem is.

If a brand is dumb enough to invite that sort of action, they have to live with the consequences. Note: I also specified social/media, which is a far broader range of consumer action than just tweeting/blogging displeasure. It would be closer to consumer activism across the board. There are precedents for it.
It's possible to recover though:
That's a lot of work though, and not sure the ROI is worth it tbh. Maybe if you were heavily invested in the BGS/Player factions/Squadrons it might be, but not for me.
Easier just to uninstall it;) Plenty of other great games, with open responsive developers, out there!

I have no idea what point you are trying to make or why you appear to be looking for an argument.

All these things will pass one way or another. Its not the first time FD have faced huge criticism or outrage on the forums.

This might be the nail in the coffin for ED or it might not.

I don't disagree with your statement that you can vote with your wallet nor did i state that you were really digruntled.... although you certainly seem like you have an axe to grind and for some reason are waving it in my direction.
