Python Mk II & Updates To The Gamestore

Hi :)

It's a fairly confused picture at the moment, and IMO FDev would do well to get some definitive info out ASAP.
Yes, I agree.
The confusing part for me is...
There are 3 Variants, DBX, Chieftain and Type 6.
The Python is a variant on the Python MK1.

Are there going to be 3 other 'new' ships, as of yet unknown details?...which was stated in a recent Frontier Livestream as one of 4 'new ships' (The Python M2 being the first one of the 4, and also described as a Variant).
My understanding is we have 3 more new ships to be revealed this year at some point.

It's the word 'Variant' that's the confusing part here. 🤷‍♂️

prebuilt ships arent the variants
we should be getting three more variants, that means three more ships will get their mark X version (like python just did)

I think "variant" simply refers to a change to an existing design, for example like AspX/AspS, Type-6/Keelback, Krait Mk.II/Phantom, etc. It's my understanding that the four new ships this year, Python Mk.II being the first, will be adaptations of existing platforms, not brand new designs. The next is supposedly the Type-8, which I'm desperately hoping is a variant of the Type-7 platform, and not another Type-9 variant a la the Type-10.

The prebuilds, or "jumpstarts" as they're being marketed, are a separate thing. They're simply existing ships with a default loadout for a specific task, sold with a shipkit/paintjob. I do think that the new four variant ship releases this year will likely have a jumpstart available at release, as we've seen with the P2.

No, the DBX, Chieftain and Type 6 are the same ships that we already have, but being sold with a preconfigured module layout. The variants are actually new ships. We now know the Python MK II, which turned out to be more of a FdL MK II, and we know the name of the next: Type 8. But so far we haven't got the slightest idea what that ship will be like. And the remaining variants are as of yet completely unknown.

Could be avoided if every Python MK II regularly purchased came with the 5A prefitted.
That right there would be P2W.

Edit - Having read some other forum posts, I think I should clarify; P2A - Pay to advantage. You can't really "win" ED.

When purchased with ingame credits ?

If the P2 comes with an A rated SCO, and only C class are available to everyone else, then the only way to get a ship with an A rated SCO* would be to purchase with Arx a P2. Since you can't remove that module from that ship without losing it, yes, you would have to keep using the P2, but all other ships will still only have access to C class SCO to begin with. You would be paying for a feature that is not available to other ships, ingame credits or arx or otherwise, a feature that gives a major advantage over non payed for. It might be temporary, but I wouldn't on principle buy a feature that would give me an advantage in game that isn't available to everyone without the money to do so.

*At least until FDEV release them for all other ships, guessing August 7th.

Maybe sooner? This is a long downtime..

I guess downtime will tell ...

I wonder what would be the reason for it to be 7hrs?
