Python Mk II & Updates To The Gamestore

I am troubled by the arx for python mkII thing being a thing that we'll be having to look forward to from this point in the future, but I'm equally untroubled by some form of revenue coming in from us here on the elite dangerous side of the community.

On the one hand, pay to play will always be weak. On the other hand, I would be willing to buy a space-legs melee hammer.

The pre-built ships idea goes right along with the pre-engineered space-legs weapons and I'm now surprised it hadn't been implemented sooner.

Exciting news

"In addition, we will also be making some balancing changes to Engineering"

They haven't said in what direction, but if they decrease the grind then what's the point of pre-engineered ships in the shop. Sounds like they would increase the grind to make the shop versions more appealing.

Will just have to wait to see if the ships are pre-engineered I guess.

  • Are the shipkit parts that come with the pre-built ships parts from existing kits or new parts?
  • Can we dismantle the prebuilt ships for parts?
  • Do the prebuilt ships have any unique engineering that is only availible for those ships?
  • Does the ship pre-order come with anything unique that stays permanently after (like the Azure skins for people who owned Horizons before the merger)

On the Gamestore update: Fdev please fix the USD prices for Arx vs the rest of the world. That has never made sense to me and since I am in the US I have never bought Arx due to it being more expensive here for some unknown reason. Are you mad at the US for some reason???

The Game store refresh will be a great time to fix or explain why US buyers of ARX should pay more for it than the rest of the world.

Pretty sure "Non Odyssey" means Horizons 4.0, not Legacy. 🤷‍♂️
It may have been a jump on my behalf but non odyssey is Legacy ? Why not put Horizons 4.0 ? Rather than non Odyssey?
Whilst it may be me clutching at straws.
If I as a person of short arms and deep pockets was willing to fork out for arx for the python MK2 there may be others too ? In legacy and so a market to bring more cash in ??

Just here to voice my opinion for a game I love:

My friends, don't get caught up in the "Pay 2 Win" semantics argument. This is an indefensible departure from Frontier's previous stance of being able to pay real money for feasible in game benefits. Frontier, please don't go through with this. You can still reverse course, but I'm afraid the decision to do that is up to the people looking at the balance sheets now.

where do I buy the corvette to skip the rank grind?
Cause honestly after doing it once and now having reset my save... I'd rather just pay to skip it >....>

Very happy and excited for the future of Elite, happy for other players who really and deeply care about the game, for the staff behind it and Arf & team as I know it can be difficult to weather the storms and meet all expectations through the ups and downs, especially when your on the front line.

I am honestly baffled by the people who see this as "pay to win" and a "cash grab". They seem to want everything free, and NOW. The company needs to make money somehow. It isn't a charity.

It isn't a cash grab - just don't buy it! Just wait. Just like a Ryanair queue...

It isn't pay to win - you don't automatically own the entire galaxy if you buy one of these. You still need to be good, as evidenced by all the Sidewinder players battering players in much bigger ships.

And if you come across one of these ships and don't want to engage it, just do what you always do - fly away!

Some of these responses are quite frankly ludicrous and equate an OPTIONAL purchase with a MANDATORY activity. They are not the same.

Trying to take an objective standpoint, it's probably a better option than what people had with ships like the Alliance Chieftain if they only had the base game when that got added.

Sign me up! I'll pay twice the Arx if I can get the Python MkII this week. Call it what you want, a pre-pre-P2W, whatever. I'm happy to contribute if it keeps the ED lights on.
I am happy to spend money on the game, but there have been multiple comments that only cosmetics will be paywalled. I would likely plop down a bunch of ARX on my new Python MkII for cosmetics. Paying for early access is a little much.

Edit for grammar

There's no such thing as pay-to-win with Frontier are doing as you can't pay for skill and experience which is what really counts.

I personally think what Frontier is doing is a good thing. Remember, the more money Frontier get the more they can spend on bringing in new features to the game. I'm happily going to buy the Python Mk II and I might get some pre-built ships for my alt accounts.
