Ships Python Owners' Thread

I made a Python exploration/expedition build and review a while back. I really liked the ship and it was a close runner against my Orca for DW2.

53 ly with full fuel tank, 1k shields, 1k hull, srv, repair limpets, decent thrusters, great heat efficiency (0.14). It is a lovely ship.

Looking good! Almost the same as the one I'm currently flying on DW2. I swapped the cargo rack and SRV hangar to have 4 SRVs on the trip.

That is an excellent choice and the cargo rack there is a moving part. Basically you just need 4 tons of cargo for the build and everything else is for "just in case"

Well bought me one for a purpose enterily diferent from the one i ended up using it for...

At first was the curiosity of testing out the ship and see for myself what is all the fuss about it, and when i got it and realized what i could do with it... It was "love" at first sight!

Im running my Python for last 2 days (when i bought it) and it is my money maker hands down, i even got it up to the level of upgrades and configuration i wanted to have pretty fast and rebought my DBX to use the exploration build i have for it, since its a pretty decent ship for that, not sure if i want to get the Krait Phantom back now (tested it and loved it), since i was kinda going for a exploration build and have the DBX for that, so will consider my options there...

I run 256 cargo space, 4D almost everything, a 3A fuel scoop, a 3A shield, planetary aproach, planetary scanner, 5A FSD (modified level 1), all D modules for the rest, and chaff, ECM and shield booster just in case i do get inderticted to have time to run away, been working quite well, since the ship is decent, good handling, fits every station, so i can accept all cargo missions that pay well that i see, the bigger ones if at all worth it ill do multiple runs between the stations, and if i ran across any planet worth a scan (probe) i can do it for aditional profit.

My is off course personalized, with color and frame elements, couldnt resist doing it.

Will be flying it as my number 1 trader ship.

hi to all.

Im building a combat python.
I have a question for utlity slot.
what is better (without being too fine/sophisticated or with engineer)?

1- all chaff and point defence (with a biweave shield)
2- all shield booster (with A shield)

in both cases I have internal hull protections and modules protections.

If PvE then either is probably OK, if PvP then all shield booster is probably better because most PvPers use fixed weapons. I no longer use chaff or point defence on my python, just the 4 engineered shield boosters and the strongest shield I can find. This is because I want to be PvP-capable. If you only do PvE then bi-weaves are fine as you probably don't want to wait for shield recharge between fights. (Example: https://s.orbis.zone/2pvm )

Just joined this little community and of course I am a huge Python fan. I have done most activities in ED and now feel ready to attempt PvP. However I cannot bring myself to use the boring FDL meta or FAS etc. So I have my Python : https://s.orbis.zone/2jd0

Does anyone visiting here ever try PvP in a Python ? If so I would be curious to see loadouts and maybe hear about any tactics you've found successful. My experience so far has been mixed, made some folks run away and had to bail myself once or twice but it does get the blood pumping.

Why no shield cell banks? Adding something like this would triple your effective shield. Of course some would be cancelled by rails, but not all.

Here is a PvP Python build by Harry Potter "for DW2".

- nice to know .... So he use no chaff - good for gimballed and turreted weapons. And his canopy is a lightweighted one, so quite a paper. It would be good, if some explorers would reduce their jump range for long range weapons and a little bit more armour. I mean, an Anaconda has already higher hull hardness than the penetration of fragment cannons. Just because of the existence of "pilots" like Harry potter, I've equipped my Explo-Conda accordingly. And 50 LY jump is still possible.

Good point, I've removed a HRP and added a 6B SCB (un-engineered currently). Thank you, I had awkward experiences with SCBs at first, knowing when to use them most effectively and not forgetting when in the heat of a fight.

My Python has now officially gone from one end of the galaxy, to the other. I started off with a shakedown cruise to the Formidine Rift and back, then embarked on DW2. She's been a joy to fly the entire trip.

Damnit guys, you have me sold on this ship! I've been on "The Road to Riches," roughly about 60 systems in (and 42 million cr. richer) and I have been window shopping for a heavy multipurpose ship, that's NOT an anaconda.

Can this haul? yes!
Can it be used in combat effectively? hell yes!
Can it hold it's own against ships larger than it? damn straight!

oooh baby, I can't wait to get some more credits to buy this beautiful beast!

For you veteran Python owners a quick question: How much should I have extra to get my python up and running effectively?

After that I will upgrade here and there as I go along.

This one is a good transporter and just killed 4 "dangerous" NPC Anacondas within 20 minutes without even loosing the second shield ring completely:

Python transporter

I would say, It can surivive even Open Play/ PvP-Pirates. So as you see: basic price of a Python is 55 Mio and final price of this build is 293 Million. So basis multiplied with factor 5. The same experience I've done on all my ships - probably because most of thema are A-Rated and top equipped.

The Explorer-Anaconda costs at the end 734 Mio compared to basic price of 142, So even here the factor 5 - not due to A-rated modules, but to some guardian weaponry and reactive surface composite as a hull :) yes, on an explorer-ship :)

I own 2 at this time one for trading and hauling and a mining rig. My Trading Python the Lovely Angel, is loaded with 240t she's Queen of the outpost run, fairly tough and mean, and also bright pink, https://s.orbis.zone/4iae <that's her loadout with current engineering. My Mining Python the Mean Green Bean, https://s.orbis.zone/4iah <load out here not very engineered but ready for doing deep core and full asteroid strip mining. The Python is one of my most flown ships, because it's just so bloody useful as a mission runner and general use craft. Heck in 3 runs the M.G.B. paid for it's purchase cost, and the Angel, she's an ATM, NPC pirate dispatching, trading, hauling, even good for some light bounty hunting and can land at every type of station. Love my Pythons.

I bought a Python a few weeks ago and I really have enjoyed this purchase. With the loadout I have, it is capable of handling hazardous RES, missions (data and cargo), and trade. Along with the FDL, this is the ship I fly; I just took it to Sol and made about 3 million in just about an hour of bounty hunting at the Jupiter High RES. Yes, engineering makes a huge difference, especially the G5 drag drive thrusters.
