Ships Python Owners' Thread

After a few months flying around with the Krait, I´ve switched back to the Python as a multitasking ship. The Krait is fun, has the fighter hangar (tried her as a Thargoid killer but this is an aspect of the game I haven´t found engaging) and is nearly a carbon copy of internals with slightly better jumprange. It has a superb cockpit mesh, the single aspect I find it way better than the Python. FDev, could we have a little rework of the older cockpit meshes, better detailing and all that, please?. But Krait is not the Python. I can´t explain it better.

I'm exactly in the same boat. After some time spent in Krait I came to a conclusion that Python is irreplaceable. And I can't say why :O

This thread has convinced me to join the python family. I will pick up my Python when I jump on tonight or tomorrow. I mainly want to transport and be able to defend myself (PVE player).

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should focus on upgrading first? I have unlocked Farseer & Martuuk so far. I have 245 Million credits to play around with.

Go to Farseer first as she has higher grade thruster mods than Martuuk so increased range FSD and Dirty drive tuning first, you should be able to unlock the Dweller and Tod the Blaster easy enough for charged enhanced PD/lasers and OC MC's respectively.

Selene Jean for hull armour and HRP's would be next but even with just Farseer and Martuuk you can build a solid armed trader, add some more HRP/MRP if you want to give BH a shot.

Thank you , I really appreciate the tips. I am jumping on it right now.

From another perspective: If you use regular shields instead of bi-weaves, you won't need any armor for a armed trader. I've never used armor on my Python. Closest I came to ever needing it was when I was interdicted by four condas, back-to-back. And even then it wasn't that close. :)

Unless you are doing armed trading in open, in which case, disregard everything I just said. :D

I have yet to venture out into the open world, so I will definitely look into just using regular shields. Thank you for the tip.

Everyone is different, and has different play styles. Finding what works for you may take a bit of experimenting, but to me, that's the fun part. :)

To give you a couple of examples of how versatile the Python is, here's my 'armed trader' compared to my bounty hunter. They are just examples, and work really well for me.

I recently threw the armor and hrp/mrp upgrades on my bounty hunter in case I decide to go look for these new pirate encounters. I have no need for armor if I'm just bounty hunting in a haz res or CNB.

I really like your armed trader build. I think I need to work on acquiring the Guardian FSD next. Hopefully that's not that difficult to obtain. Thanks again.

The FSD booster is the only Guardian tech that I've bothered to unlock, because I wanted it primarily for my Corvettes. But with it installed in my Python she can go ~220Ly when fully loaded and with fewer jumps. I ended up spending a half day unlocking the darn thing, but the end result justified it. (it probably takes most people less time, but I kept screwing up)

I recently bought a python. Exchnged my T10 as I couldn't afford the rebuy costs. Have to say its growing on me, looks a bit like my FDL and seems pretty decent at most things. I thought to exchange for a krait for the fighter bay and I have unlocked the guardian fighter, but that will wait I think as thargoid hunting is very expensive.

I have 2 beams and mc but the weapon drain on the beams is too quick so might change to engineered pulse lasers, also carry secondary weapons pack-hound missiles and imperial hammer, which is fixed so diff to hit with.

All my modules are left over fro the T10 or storage so its not quite ideal.
But overall the python is a good enough at everything ship, maneuverable, strong, good cargo so unlike my specialist ships (aspx for exploring, dbx for bubble hops, dolphin for passengers, fdl for combat), shame it didn't have a fighter bay but there you go.

Engine Color

I got a Python..like someone else on here I go rid of my Chieftain and I love my Python...just wondering what took me so long. I got set up as a do all...not totally for trade or courier, not totally exploration. Its set a bit of everything which works great for me, now I"m trying to decide on which engine color to get (Blue,Orange.....maaaaybe cyan).

Loadout Ideas

I'm attempting to make my python a competent all around ship and currently I'm rocking two class 3 gimballed beam lasers and one class e gimballed multicannon and two class 2 seeker missile racks. Should i change my loadout up or is that good enough to be useful? I only have access to the base weapons so no engineering or guardian duds for me...yet.

If you like beams, get them engineered for efficiency. I have 2 efficient medium beams and 3 overcharged large multi-cannons on my Python and never run out of power.
