Question for Open players who don't like PVP/ganking... help me understand

Please note, however, that I still hold Ganking, as opposed to motivated PvP, in disgust.
I hold the negative, hateful and dictator attitude from players like you, in disgust as well 🤷‍♂️ It's just a video game, there's absolutely no reason to be so hateful towards other players because you don't like the way they play.

If you don't like the way I play, that's fine, I'm sure I don't like the way you play either, but there's no reason to call people names and question their personal life because of the way they play a video game.

Good luck CMDR and if you ever change your mind and your attitude I'd be happy to give you some training in PvP and/or gank evasion.

Gankers in ED seem to be a much more complex matter than in other games. Gosh, can't anything in this game just be uncomplicated?
I've got it: Gankers in ED are bugged. :ROFLMAO:
In truth the only complexities in ED ganking are the creative rationalisations of those involved. I'm going to ruin YOUR experience for MY own gratification, but it's okay because I'm a cheeky chappie, and it's just a game, oh and I can (drum roll ....) TRAIN YOU like the gaming genius I clearly am.

Bwahahaha! Love it.

I will point out the following FACTS to you.
  • Your avatar is of a character in a movie that successfully killed half of all life everywhere in the universe for no reason related to the VAST majority of them except that they existed
  • Your forum account was created in 2019
  • This was written in 2005 - https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Ganking
  • This game has enough history with REAL Ganking, prior to you joining, as I previously defined by the site just above, that I (erroneously) accused @Danquememe of trolling (for which, my apology)
To adhere to the general trend of this thread, if you didn't want negative, hateful attitudes, you shouldn't have chosen a term that has had negative connotations in the collective gaming community, for well over a decade, as your forum handle. Adding a picture with no redeeming history certainly didn't belay that message.

People always have a motivation for what they do, and, if that motivation is not within the game, needs must, there is a motive outside it, even if that motive is "boredom". In any case, my attitudes about people that kill other players, for no in game value, is not going to change. If that behavior fits your play style, you have earned my attitude with your own actions. The GLOBAL term for those people, as defined by far more than myself, is GANKER, and I have no respect for that behavior.

The age of your forum account means nothing. Nor does an avatar. For all you know Sir Ganksalot created that forum account after years of playing ED. Just because your forum account is older does not give you moral authority.

Also, your argument that there is no in game value to being interdicted and killed is incorrect. In ED all conflict is optional. The thargoids are optional, pirates are optional (so easy to escape interdiction or to get away from them when you submit), wars are optional. Everything is optional. Unless you play in open and then there's the risk of being attacked by other players. In Frontier if you jumped into an anarchy system, pirates lined up to intercept and kill you. In ED, they only line up to grief you with spam interdiction attempts. Other players fill the void left by FD's design decision with regards to NPC's. Deciat is the new Riedequat.

What do you hope to accomplish by being so hateful towards people that are simply playing a video game?

I tried to be polite, but first, "I don't want to be a copyright violation", and, now, you, both intentionally misrepresent my statements, or, rather, in your case, inject content that I didn't use.

As should have been obvious to anyone with a pulse, I made a comparison that specifically did NOT involve my seniority, in any sense, on the forum. Even the person being "offended" didn't go there.

As to the inference that you are in some way doing Frontier's bidding in fulfilling their game design, again, you lack skill in obfuscation. This is just another attempt at putting responsibility for your game play choices on someone else's doorstep. I said that killing players for the sake of killing players is without in game value. YOU do not get to decide what I find of value in MY gaming experience. As is typical of such falderal, you substitute bluster for actual content.

I seriously suggest you go take a course in Critical Thinking. You currently are coming to a firefight battle of wits armed with spitwads.

It's amazing to me that in all your time on this forum that you're still this hateful towards other players that are simply playing a video game in a way you disapprove of.

Not sure what my name or my profile picture has to do with anything besides I'm a ganker and I like fictional bad guys.

Anyways, I hope someday I can change your mind. You don't have to like the act but there's no reason to hate the player.

What do you hope to accomplish by being so hateful towards people that are simply playing a video game?

Do you not understand that you are judged by your actions?

You attack, with nothing to lose. That's kinda boring. I don't think you're a bad person for playing the way you claim to, but I don't think highly of you for it no matter how good you are. Training others counts in your favour though, that's a win/win.

I am only one person and I quoted your words directly and did not try to misrepresent them. I think I was quite polite, you on the other hand.... have not returned the courtesy.

You pointed to the age of another players forum account as a FACT (arrogant, much?) that was somehow pertinant to what was being said. You don't NEED to say anything ELSE. The INFERENCE is obvious, e.g.

Here are some FACTS for you:

As to the inference that you are in some way doing Frontier's bidding in fulfilling their game design, again, you lack skill in obfuscation. This is just another attempt at putting responsibility for your game play choices on someone else's doorstep. I said that killing players for the sake of killing players is without in game value. Speaking of reading things into peoples words that they did not intend, I have not ever attacked another player unprovoked, only in defence. Never even fitted or used an interdictor. Am not and never have been either a self identified ganker or been called one by another player. I was talking about having been interdicted and destroyed by vastly superior ships as the gankee, not the ganker. See how words can be misunderstood without context, voice and facial expression? And yet, it's almost as if I can explain rather than insulting your intelligence. Crazy, I know.

To me, there is more value in players killing players "just because" than there are in all the NPC behaviours. I wish that it weren't so, but it is. FACT.

I seriously suggest you go take a course in Critical Thinking. You currently are coming to a firefight battle of wits armed with spitwads.

A firefight battle of wits! Brilliant. So what are you in this "firefight battle of wits"? The big gun? :ROFLMAO:

Some people take Open far too seriously, and that is the tragedy of it. It's quite telling when people pretend that Open is mandatory... Reminds me of the severe cases of hypochondriacs who put their lives in serious danger by imaginary illnesses. Just a reminder: ED is not EVE. In ED, you always have a choice, what do I say, lots of choices. And even then (in EVE) this hateful attitude (in a game, imagine!) would be very borderline. I hate to say this, as someone who generally dislikes ganking, I think that's just going too far.

The "I play in Open" bit is bravado for the most part, fighting a war in Open, or BGSing in enemy territory in Open is more exciting because more things can happen - in theory you can be stopped & some mission will fail if you are destroyed, some bounties or bonds or data will be lost. So being policed out of open is a thing, and has some meaning as propaganda.

But the real work gets done when no opposition is instanced with you and that can usually be done in Open anyway.

PvPers play the game in a different way & I find that interesting. Often they are very, very good at killing NPCs, so much so it's boring for them. I try to give them a reason to play, even if it is only that they have a reputation to uphold as someone that is not an easy target. I have no interest in Cmdrs that show no interest in the wider game, they may as well just be extra tough NPCs, just another obstacle to get past.

I can understand it. I still have a lingering fury over the fact that Elite 4 is not a single player game with a tacked on multiplayer option, but rather the other way around. I suppose some people might feel the reverse of that. They bought a game expecting lots of player pew pew and are annoyed that people can escape them in solo. I mean it galls me sometimes that you people are all in my game. Doing stuff to my galaxy.

In real life that is absolutely the case, but in a video game, hating someone because of the way they play it and calling them names is unacceptable. Especially when said playstyle is approved by the developers.

Your Cmdrs in-game actions, (or your description of them here, I don't think we have met in-game) are judged by my Cmdr. A simple example might be that I see you in supercruise in a system I claim as 'mine' and you are wanted (locally). I'm going to make assumptions & decisions based on that info. I may discover where your squadron hangs out & attack them, even though they personally did not do anything that I know about. And so on, and so on.

I think you and some others spend an awful lot of time trying to justify acting in what appears to be a clearly provocative manner, when you could simply accept that you are a baddie in the eyes of many (good & bad being relative) and understandably if you cannot be 'punished' personally people will find something else to exact their revenge on, something or someone they hope you do care about.

All in the game. But you don't care about any of that, so you are just another NPC to me, a simple logistical hurdle to overcome to achieve my goal.
