Raspberry Pi 2 Port?

It's not about imagination but the amount of effort needed to do such a port. Also why would you port an unfinished game?

They are already porting the unfinished game to the Mac. They've said they're actively looking at other platforms. The game will not be "finished" for years, if ever. That argument doesn't wash I'm afraid.

You have no idea what it means to go from a x86 instruction set to the ARM instruction set, don't you?

Hint: It's not simply a flag in the compiler.

Don't patronise me please, I've been a commercial dev for over 25 years. Of course I know it's not just a flag in the compiler. But multiple platforms is a stated goal / purpose of the Cobra engine, so to avoid limiting that, there ought to at least be a plan in place at Frontier to handle different CPU architectures. It's not all about the graphics card or operating system. For instance, if they wanted to do a PS3 port - they would have to support PowerPC.

I also know that it is possible to get a computer (even the most basic ones) to do almost anything you invest the time in developing for it. Obviously with the RPi2 there would be compromises made on the visual quality, but it's perfectly doable... if the will is there.

I'm with Juniper. It could be done. Need a version of the network client (not a problem for the Pi) linked to graphics somewhere above the level of ArcElite (not a problem for the Pi), eminently do-able. A fairly lo-fi graphical front-end but connecting to the same persistent universe.

It will come after the C64 port is ready.

I could live with that :D although much as I love the venerable old C64, even I'll admit that hardware wise it's just not up to the task.

There's no networking, no external storage that is usable, 1/900th the CPU power of the RPi-2, etc etc.

Interestingly, Eben Upton recently said that the 900Mhz quad core speed was only decided in the last few days prior to release - and that there is (if you add a heatsink) significant overclocking headroom above that. Wee thing is fast! :)

You sir, have just made my day.
The new Pi turned up yesterday and I've been thinking of getting RiscOS on a card since then. It's running OSMC at the moment.
For reference, that Arc Elite in a Pi website you posted has a link to a now defunct site for the ROM. The ROM is available from other sites. Run a Google for "RiscOS 3.1 roms". The top result has the necessary info.

Elite:The New Kind runs perfectly well on the original 256MB model B - you need to do a bit of monkeying around with the Allegro libraries (at least that was the case a couple of years ago - they may well be in the standard Raspbian repository now) to compile it, and there was something funky going on with the sun being rendered when you entered a new system which I bodged my way around. I may dig out my source code and have another play around with it - was a good trip down memory lane for me.
