RegulatedNoise - trade tool with zxctypo's best-in-class OCR (EliteOCRReader as-was)

Maybe if you tried matching specific parts of station names? EG: Many station names have suffixes such as RING, Vision, Hub, Outpost, Terminal, etc. If it's at the end of the word, insert a space before it if there isn't one.

SUGGESTIONS

By Commodities Tab and By Stations

To reflect the stations commodity order of your last import
Errors are highlighted spoke with maxh2004 he suggested prices </> 50% for missing digits blank lines. The Screenshot, even if delete is checked, are kept if errors are highlighted , to assist in correction.
Once OCR has finished & you click import, RN opens to By Stations by default to show any errors, that are highlighted for you to correct.

Bad data ie 001Tan can be deleted along with the station IF! it's an EDDN import as that station is not in my Commander Log ( I may have flown in an out of that system) otherwise once clicked takes me to THAT station so I can edit that commodity or delete the associated station. Maybe the screenshots are deleted only after leaving
By Stations &/or By Commodities tab, RN then assumes you have check , if highlight didn't show any errors

By Stations tab

The Delete row button has confirmation or Edit is move to far left
The station you have selected stays selected , EDDN seems to change your station as it imports
Maybe just all Tabs to remember last choice

Station To Station

The drop downs default to alphabetically listed but first shows last import, to catch any errors

If best round route is from a to b but I'm at c. Station To Station shows me the commodities I can buy from c to a , just below in Best Round-Trip doesn't matter if its a low profit As this Image http://i.imgur.com/hZ4U8zh.png shows.
My current systems is HOLLER. The best round trip is from Arakwibut to Agaso
*Note the Hume Ring HOLLER is highlighted in the image only to place it in dropdown box

All my other suggestion are in previous post & dev's are aware of them

Hope this helps ...:)

Suggestion:

For the calibration perhaps a way to verify what the current points look like on a screenshot. So if you hit the auto-calibration you could see the marks on the test picture and see if they line up properly or not.

Updated with MRmP's experimental auto-calibration and bugfixes and stuff...

Should all be present in 1.72. FPS, please retest :)

Thanks, maxh2003. Thanks MRmP.

To run application no longer required DisplaySettings.xml. This fine. But if ED not installed skip step with a choice of path .....\Frontier\EDLaunch\Products not possible. RN still does not run without ED :(

...and
I imported my CSV with the stations, but the button Best Round Trip is no longer working as before. New Maximum round-trip: 507, old 2115. And if the station-to-station manually select the station, it remains an empty list.
Sorry, I have not very good to explain properly, I'll show screenshots

UPD. Im sorry. After i restart application everything was working.

Hi, thanks for the tool it's really great.
I've been getting a crash in v1.71 whether or not ED is running or any screenshots have been imported.
It only happens if you listen to the EDDN, sometimes straight away sometimes after a few minutes.
The raw output window still updates after the exception.
This is on a clean install of 1.71 with just the calibration I had been using from 1.2-1.5 which had no crashes like this.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi, it crashed this morning just whilst listening to EDDN, I have PM'd the dump file to you maxh2003.

Thanks

v1.73 wont start https://www.dropbox.com/s/t0sfwd21jfs4fcu/RegulatedNoiseDump.dmp?dl=0

IMPORTANT
I disable this & now 1.73 is working , Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service & WLAN AutoConfig
Had a issue with my Bonic (seti) PC that's networked though router ,stuff around in services , yesterday, that night play ED with ver 1.7 all good

Shutdown next day install 1.73 wont star, then tried , 1.72 1.7 & 1.5 Even did clean install reboot, nothing worked until I did the above,, weird or what :S

Thx. Will try to take a look at the dump file this evening :)

I wish I had time to code this. Some way of editing the existing calibration (rather than starting again) would probably be good.

This is a nice idea that needs to be investigated. We have a list of 4000 stations (or thereabouts) from Maddavo, which we could try to extract this detail from...

;) I tell you.. Redbull makes magic

I'm already chock-full of strong black coffee and Coca-Cola, if I have any more caffeine I'll lsoe teh abillty too tyype!

Just a quick note to anyone who fancies joining the development effort on RN:

1) You don't need paid software to do so. You *should* be able to build the entire application, and indeed carry out further development, using the free-for-open-source-work [Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition](http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=517284) - it should *just build first time*. So there is no need for any paid software, to be able to work on RN. That said, if someone does try it with VS2013 Community, please let me know how you get on - I am sure it will work but confirmation would be nice.

2) I have put some effort into marking up bug statuses in GitHub, and in particular, marked those which I *think* will be relatively easy to fix. Anyone trying to find their feet, may like to start by looking at those and seeing if they can relate the defect to the code.

Shutdown next day install 1.73 wont star, then tried , 1.72 1.7 & 1.5 Even did clean install reboot, nothing worked until I did the above,, weird or what :S

That is *very* odd. Hopefully it will be apparent from the dump file - can't look at that til I get home. Thx for the extra info, very useful.

I think that part of my problem with the station names was that i was in an area that was not covered by his list. When I moved out of that area the problem stopped happening.
So just an additional list of locally added stations would probably do it.
FWIW in general the OCR and whole correction process is much better now. Thanks.

Edit, actually it has started having the problem with the station names and spaces again in well known systems, so... additional info anyway...

You're welcome :) *takes a sip of his redbull*
- Yeah, those yellow dots are draggable!
- Picture taken from my development branch, it is not in V1.73!

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D :D :D

Will integrate this as soon as I can, which is to say, not *right* now, but soon...

Ok this is a great tool BUT..... I have a problem... It seems to hang occasionally (or crash) this I can understand as these things happen however when it does I have to end the task and hen I restart all the data is gone! What is going on there....

Also when upgrading is there any file that should not be overwritten for example where is the input data kept?

That really should *not* be happening. It could be the EDDN bug - v1.8 fixes that. Otherwise, check whether there is a hidden messagebox behind other windows - it does that sometimes when it crashes. Also check if you have a RegulatedNoiseDump.dmp file in your RN directory - that is created whenever it crashes, *before* the application quits or the messagebox appears.

It is always safe to unzip a new version on top of your old version. Data files and configuration settings are valid between versions. Per the installation notes on the wiki! :p :)

oh yeah... v1.8 uploaded with MRmP's auto- and editable-calibration, a magnifier to help with same, and the all-important "spaces in station names" bug fix... please update immediately if you plan to upload to EDDN...

Great tool, thanks for all your work!

One question - when I ran my first scan, I didn't have "Upload on Import" checked (didn't want to upload duff data while I was still working it out) How do I now upload what I've scanned to EDDN?

I'm afraid you can't, as it stands. I might add it if enough people ask but I'm wary of adding more ways to send to EDDN, people might start sending duplicates and the such, and it's a shared community resource...

It seems like stations change availability of items sometimes.
One day it might have supply in a specific commodity and the next day it may have gone.
When updating the data for a specific station only commodity present in the station will get a new price. For commodity not currently sold or bought at that station the old price data will stay in the database.
Right now I have to go into price analysis -> by station, sort the data by sample date and delete the old rows manually.
Could you add a toggle or a datefield (purge data older than x hours) so we can decide to purge old data from our local database for a specific station when we import new data from ocr for that station?
Could you maybe add some functionality to purge data from the database by filter (commodity name, station, system, sample date)?

Another idea might be to add a tab with traderoutes for the price analysis. This way I could set up round trips with more than just 2 stations. (sometimes it is more profitable to trade in a circle than to do 2 point roundtrips)

Could you please also add a limit for the jump range on station to station trading (max jump range of ship, max jumps for calculating the best round trip)?

Thanks for this great tool, I am using it quite a bit and love the speed with which you push out new features and bug fixes.
