Since there’s currently very little use for these materials beyond unlocking tech broker modules and restocking specialty weapons, I think it would be very good to be able to exchange them for more useful materials.
If possible (within the game’s programming, I mean), you could make exchanges one-way only, so that we could trade alien materials to receive human ones, but not vice-versa. That way, players would still have to put the work into unlocking hybrid modules and the like.
I think that this would be a very good addition to the game, because currently there is not much incentive for Thargoid hunting besides the challenge it offers. The time/effort required does not translate into a proportionately large reward, either in credits or other resources. If a pilot wants to engineer their ship and hunt aliens, they basically have to split their time between pursuing these two goals; whereas a bounty hunter, miner, mercenary, planet-surface-explorer or human-signal-source explorer can acquire at least SOME useful materials in the normal course of their activities.
