In-Development RGB Keyboard support for Elite

Tryed Aurora 0.8.0. After 1st launch it updated to 0.8.1.
A have same problems with FSD countdown and while warping to other sistem - reacts only G-keys. On other things - everything is OK. Having problem only with countdown to supercruise and warp and while warping.
Logitech G910
PS: Also, "L"-ket not blinking with Gear Downed. "Home" on cargo-scope and Nightwision\hardpoints - OK, but LandingGear - not

The hyperspace animation should be fixed in the next Aurora update. Don't know when that will be though :( Hmmm, will check if the last patch broke the Landing Gear key.

Hi,
Really good work, love this !

I just need to know something, cause I'm a poor French man who plays on a AZERTY keyboard, is there a way to change the Key Binds assign ?
Cause on all the Aurora layers it's possible but in the Elite Dangerous Key Binds it's juste possible to change colors and not keybinds.

Or maybe there is something else to solve it ? Actually I got WASD keybind in orange.

Thanks
J

Hi and thanks! Hmm...This profile takes the Key binds from the game, so everything should work automatically. Do you have correct keyboard layout selected in Aurora settings?

Hi there, I've started playing E.D. a few days ago and I've been using Aurora for a while, however the Elite D. profile while it highlights all the keys shown in the profile.. it doesn't run any of the animations as shown in the youtube video (animations work fine for other profiles though). I've Aurora beta v0.8.1, the keyboard is a Wooting One with US layout. I only have the Wooting plugin enabled and I have already tried to switch the layout back and forth.

Is there any other troubleshooting steps I should take?

In the aurora log I can only see this related to ED. I use the XBox Controller and keyboard.
[INFO] 13:40:14: Found default binds file: E:\Games\EliteDangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64\ControlSchemes\ControlPad.binds
[ERROR] 13:40:14: Current bind file: E:\Games\EliteDangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64\ControlSchemes\ControlPad.binds

Thanks for your quick answer Arthur, yes I have correct keyboard layout selected... Actually it seems to be only the key binds when I'm in a station/menu, but it works perfectly in flight so, it's not very important. But if you have a lead somehow, I'm interested :)

French? Playing Elite?
How do you have the time with all the sex and croissants?

Haha in Lockdown, trust me, we have all the time to play Elite with our coffee and croissants

Fantastic work! I just reinstalled Aurora on a whim, and fired up Elite to start a new lighting profile for it, and then I slowly realized what was going on and was absolutely amazed at the depth of the default profile. I'd love to be able to edit the colors as it gets more polished! I had been running a color scheme off edfx, but switched to the vanilla one so it'd match my keyboard lay out:ROFLMAO:

Maybe there is a problem with ED Journal API? Do you have it enabled? And if yes, is it located on your main drive?

Can you please provide some photos or a video? I am not sure what's exactly going on from the way you describe it 😅

Hmmm...but you can edit the colors for each bind category in the Aurora interface (inside the ED profile).

I believe it is enabled, I have another little app I use which uses ED Journals and it works (I also don't know how to check if the API is enabled). Perhaps it is expecting them to be in a specific place but they are somewhere else (i.e. my user's directory it's not on the C: drive for instance). I have got the correct GamePath set in the settings.json file but I wouldn't know how to set the save games and the journal folder.

Thanks for your reply and support.

Hi
short question...I have The Roccat NYTH, Vulcan Keyboard,Khan Headset...all AIMO...is there a Chance that your work also support this Devices ?

Yep, that's most definitely the problem. I haven't got any time to fix it, unfortunately. There is a report about it here and a temporary solution (making a sym link) https://github.com/DrParanoia/Aurora/issues/13

Aurora is not my software, I've just added Elite support to it. The list of supported devices can be found here https://github.com/antonpup/Aurora/wiki/Supported-Games-&-Devices

A bit of a reply to old message
"Also, "L"-ket not blinking with Gear Downed. "Home" on cargo-scope and Nightwision\hardpoints - OK, but LandingGear - not "

This was happening to me, then finally realised it was my bindings. L in a ship was Landing Gear, but was set for lights in the SRV. Noticed the L flasshing one day when I activated lights in the ship - I normally just hit night vision. As soon as I changed the SRV Lights binding to the same as the ship, L starts flashing when the landing gear deploys.

I just came across this and its works spot on with my MSI GE73 laptop - not got it to work with the gk50 elite keyboard for my desktop as yet but am hopeful

I have been using Aurora with your Elite profile for a little while now and think it is great. I have been trying to add a function to the profile but don't think I can do it currently. I was thinking of adding a layer that perhaps just flashes the entire keyboard red but use the override function so that the layer is only shown if the value for fuel is below a certain number.

I can see how to do this within Aurora but would need Fuel to be a variable that is picked up from the Journal which I do not think is a variable I can use. I saw this in your code "status.Fuel = newStatus.Fuel;" but cannot find the variable within Aurora.

This is how I would toggle the layer within the program but instead of cargo, it would need a fuel variable:

If fuel current and fuel maximum was a variable, you could also set the F keys to show a percentage of fuel too.

Arthur Z - How do you get information about If your ship is mass locked? I have my own custom control panel (and would like to do something similar) but I haven't seen anything like that in the api - am I looking in the wrong place?

Heya Arthur,

Noticing an issue since Odyssey release, started looking into it from the source but haven't been able to figure out the problem quite yet, figured I'd post it here in case others have the same issue. It's having trouble loading the bindings file, even though the file location hasn't changed since Odyssey's release.

Aurora Logs:
The problem is with "StartPreset.start"
Horizons was a single line with the binding name e.g. custom
Odyssey has changed this to four lines, one for each section, General, Ship, Srv, Foot

My workaround at the moment as I'm using renamed customised bindings called Odyssey
is to load Odyssey, start a game and make sure my foot controls are set to use odyssey in the drop down
Then edit the StartPreset.start file to be only 1 line saying Odyssey
Then start Auora. Which then can read the binding file

Oh wow I see, this is very interesting. Also it took me a little bit to understand your explanation (since you called your bindings file the same name as the game :p ) so just to reiterate for anyone else wondering, I want to write this in an extremely detailed way:

Elite Dangerous Odyssey changed StartPreset.start (C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\) to use four lines instead of one when identifying which bindings file to load at the start. Each line just tells the game which profile to load for General, Ship, SRV, and On-Foot controls.

Madproforg figured out that if you start the game normally, make sure your binds are set to the profile you want, and then change StartPreset.start to have only one line containing the name of your profile you use, Aurora will load everything correctly. At least in my case, I didn't t even need to restart Aurora in the process, Aurora was open and picked up the new StartPreset.start as soon as I refocused the game, and functioned properly.

Just keep in mind, every time you go into control bindings ingame it will overwrite the StartPreset.start file with the four lines of each profile. However, since Aurora has already loaded the profile once correctly, it will continue functioning properly for the entire duration of the Aurora program running (even if you restart the game).
