Start by turning everything to the lowest settings and then see how it looks. If everything looks okay then start turning on/up your settings one at a time until you find the problem.
If you are still seeing the same thing well I have to think about that more. So let me know how it works out. Isn't the 680MX the card made for apple?

When you say turn up my settings you mean the oculus quality settings? the other setting don'e seem to have an effect.

Yes the 680MX is for the Apple.

Thanks!

That is really interesting im not saying your wrong so please dont get that in your head that im attacking you. I am just really wondering why I cant reproduce that result any ideas?
Because if that's true and certain monitors will cause that issue I need to update my setup post to reflect it. I just don't want to put any misinformation out there and have ppl going through steps they don't need to. Maybe I can find another monitor to test on or maybe it is a Nvidia thing if so i'm switching to a nvidia card soon anyway so ill be able to check that out.

thanks for both of your suggestions. My monitor is 60Hz and not capable of 75hz. Rick Black, what was your primary monitor running at. If at 75hz maybe that's why you didn't see any change? I'll try this as well and update tonight.

No worries and I understand your skepticism, so many posts I read online about how to 'fix' some software or hardware issue often comes across as no more than 'if you stand on one leg with your hands behind you back it will start working' i.e. People tend to conflate doing something arbitrary and seeing a change.

I would offer to retest, but from what i've read 1.04 has introduced worse performance in general and I'm a bit pushed for time at the moment. I'm pretty sure of what I saw though, but like I said there is no actual performance increase, just that the refresh rate on the rift in extended mode did appear to be tied to the monitor and thus disabling the monitor allowed it to run at the recommended 75hz.

Honestly there could be a huge range of reasons, even down to actual nvidia 3D settings and the like. My suggestion would be to mention it as a possible fix for some people, but that it has no guarantees.

So I tested last night, and nothing seemed to help. Lowered settings, disabled main monitor, and no change. Lowering oculus setting in Ed just seemed to reduce the quality but not the aliasing.

Not sure what else to do. Interesting, then nvidia AA settings for fxaa says "not supported by application. Is that right?

So if that is an apple video card that means your'e running the game on a apple computer? Because if I remember correctly they have not finished the mac release and that very well could be the source of your problems.

That would have nothing to do with it.

I run it on an Apple just install windows through boot camp on its own partition and use the 680MX. Actually works pretty good for a laptop.

Can anyone please share there in-game settings for the DK2. All of a sudden I am getting a ton of Jitter, it was working fine.

I did change the connection from HMDI to DVI and no joy on that so I went back to the HDMI. I do have a GTX 980 with Display ports, anyone think that would help, I would need to get an adapter.

Thanks for any help on this.

Cheers
RJ

Hey, I found my solution.. I plugged in the AC to the OC Camera and the Jitter is gone.. Who Knew...
But it is fixed..

FPS stuck at 38.9

last night i was playing and everything was fine, no judder, silky smooth on my gtx980. today when i load ED my FPS is stuck on 38.9, with or without the rift.

no settings have changed between last night and today, I've just uninstalled ED and will see how it goes upon re-installing.

has anyone experienced anything similar?

How do you plug in AC to the camera? :)

I've noticed that the jitter disappears when tracking is briefly lost and reacquired, but testing a hunch, I unplugged the sync-cable, and sure enough, it still occurred, except now there was no way to get rid of it because the tracker was not in use.

Go to your Nvidia settings and be sure that the Vsync option you chose isn't "adaptive (half refresh rate)". If it is, just set to "application controlled" instead.

You should have gotten a AC adapter with the DK2 just plug that into the adapter that you plug into your DVI, Display Port.

Also make sure that you run the Rift in extended mode. But yeah it is probably vsync

Thanks, this seems to have been the issue (adaptive vsync), my elite profile had picked up my default settings instead of the profile settings for some reason.

Which 980 do you have and why that one?
What your fps wile jumping?
:)

I have the Gigabyte Gaming G1, it seems to be the card to get, based on reviews, plus I had a Gigabyte Twin Frozer 670 and it was great.

I've only really checked my FPS while in stations, not sure what it is while jumping

my game became unplayable today. everything had been fine, but today I loaded up and its choppy as hell. Downloaded fraps just to see and I am getting 8-32 fps when I load the game in station?!

this is on a brand new gaming rig. 4ghz machine with 16gb ram and a 980 gtx card. this is driving me crazy. had been playing fine last night. oculus or monitor.

edit: looks like my performance issues were unlreated (hardware problems, my new machine seems to be going bonkers and the core were running 90 degree temps with nothing running )

FPS with DK2

I have tried the ALT F9 with the rift but I still do not see the FPS in the HMD. Is there something else I need to do to show that with it on?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers

You have two options.

1) remove the left eye piece and ctrl or alt f (not sure what alt f9 does)
2) use afterburner and setup to display at 300 / 300
