Rubbernuke.exe has stopped working

I was afraid that might happen. The rubber dog finally caught the car. 😄

After the thargoid war, I have a lot more faith in fdevs ability to put in something good. I have two issues with the thargoid war, the use of the Orthrus to stop alerts and the Glaive. (Honestly that ship almost made me uninstall the game) but the rest of it, from the background sim mechanics, new scenarios in the uss’s, the art of the new bases, the titans, scythe and the spires have all been excellent.

If they implement something of that standard, the Powerplay could be the endgame content I always hoped it would be when it was first released nine years ago. (yes you read that right, Powerplay was originally launched June 2015, so when this new version comes out it’s 9 Years)

So... rekon all the power-specific weapons go to tech brokers?
I’m sure everyone actually invested in the powerplay spheres would greatly appreciate that. Could make sense to just make them available only within the territory of a given power, but that would depend on the modalities of the new system.

And whether the old powers still exist after the update(because Frontier do like their lore to go with the gameplay features - so I’ll be curious what the story reasoning and events for the change are going to be).

I'm reminded of when, during the Odyssey Alpha, station terminals in the new UI noted a "Specialises in <blank>" line in the station descriptor. I wanted that to be some procedural tweak that might make stations "not all the same" so to speak, with whatever that specialism is dependent on who was in control and other factors, as well as a small amount of procedural randomness.

I could go for that idea though, except it would still bind those weapons to a specific power... ideally they'd come and go, as per...

... this... the whole OG design was for powers to come and go. If that were revived, you couldn't bind power-specific weapons to it.

I was more speaking of the immediate update aftermath since we don’t know how the system will change and if it will carry the current powers over to it.

But I’m sure we’ll find out closer to the date that this is going to drop on our heads. For now, I guess, we should be glad that the feature rework is in fact happening.

DD will introduce the thargoid as the newest member of power play.

When you finally reach the top rank you get to mate with the queen.

Of course, being very much like the praying mantis of earth, they tend to eat the head of their mate. Naturally, this means no rebuy, start again. BUT, you will receive an image of your last character with a great big smile on what was left of his face.

Its really heartening to see the announcement yesterday! Broadly supportive of everything they plan on doing. There seems to be something for everyone. Lets hope the end of the war is epic for those folks who have put the work in to get us this far. (Might/might not take part but im sure there will be many YT vids to watch!)
New ships are so sorely needed, as a Python fan I'm hyped for a new variant, lets hope there is some granularity/functionality in all the new variants to drive some new gameplay.
I know I will throw some cash Fdevs way for new skins/bits and bobs if I like the designs. (Personally I would be happy to spend a tenner per ship-it supports Fdev and the staff, folks need to eat:p )
If the Powerplay redux can generate new interest then that can only be a good thing, although after nearly 3 years playing I have only just started my BGS journey and not even touched Powerplay yet. As a solo player (which can be a contentious issue itself when discussing PP and BGS) I will wait to see how that all plays out.

Optimism oh my!

the Glaive. (Honestly that ship almost made me uninstall the game)
It made me stop. The initial Glaive was doable - but 2 weeks later it was changed and made the game impossible for me.
I play now and then but not in the Thargoid war.
I will do CG's but not the initial combat (which I also enjoyed in Invasions - which also stopped)

I suppose I can top up on Relics and Grelics as these will def be required when Thargs are a PP.
