[Serious] Where Horizons Failed for me (and almost every update in Elite)

I have a Lifetime Expansion Pass and I am a patient man.
I always look forward to what FDev have in store for us! :)

I have found initially, that a lot of the expansions haven't really applied to me and it takes me a while to warm up to them (like the engineers) and then I realize why FDev added them.

I agree with this completely. I accidentally dropped into CQC the other day (my HOTAS is playing up on menu selection), and actually got a game very quickly (I'd previously tried, and matchmaking hadn't worked). That is great fun, and I'm going be doing more of that. When the feature was first added, I couldn't understand why they'd bother with it - but it's a great idea to have a PvP arena where you aren't risking your in-game ships.

I am happy to play the game and let FDev make the decisions... It's worked for me so far. :)

Considering they pretty much confirmed today there wont be a season 3 as such its a bit of a moot point.

I got more of a vibe of there will be a "season 3"-ish kind of thing, but they will be selling 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 etc separately because people just look at 3.0 and say it's not worth the money they paid for all of 3.x. It's the only thing they really can do from an engineering point of view, otherwise if two ships meet in the black and one bought patches 3.0, 3.2 and 3.3 and the other 3.1, 3.2 and 3.4 then what happens? the guy with the new guns introduced in 3.1 isn't allowed to use them against the guy who didn't buy it? otherwise people will complain (as they have in other games) that the content is in your hard drive and you pay the $10 or whatever just to unlock it.

If FD introduce interesting, realistic (in a sci-fi setting) bounty hunting mechanics, that make use of the present game mechanics, they will sell another 500k copies of the game. Using clues to track down your pray, or using game mechanics to lose the police and bounty hunters makes great game play.

I wish they would add a "simulator" mode like the Wing Commander games had, where you can practice on any ship with no risk but don't gain anything other than practice - I bet a lot of people who grind for the top three, only to be disappointed when they get there, would save themselves a lot of grief if they could just try out the ships early on in their careers. Right now the only way to do that is to take part in Beta.

Love Horizons, ALL OF IT.
Love the game, play it daily.

I rotate all aspects of the game, keeps it interesting.

If you only explore looking for new earthlike worlds and scan systems, you may get bored
if you only mine roids ...you may get bored
if you only do combat... you may get bored
If you only do engineering... you may get bored
if you only work the back ground simulation... you may get bored
if you only ship cargo... you may get bored
if you only used the docking computer and never learn to fly it in all ways... you may get bored
if you only play solo... you may get bored
if you only fly the same ship... you may get bored
if you only play one mission type... you may get bored
if you only drive the SRV and collect rocks... you may get bored
If you only do power play.. you may get bored
if you only search Unidentified signal sources ... you may get bored
If you use the same weapons and never try others.. you may get bored
If you only play it safe... you may get bored
If you can't use your imagination and never role play.. you may get bored
If you read the forums too much.. You may get bored
If you never add new music while playing.. You may get bored
If you are hoping this game will fill some kind of void in your life... you may get bored, depressed, angry, despondent, NO GAME HELPS HERE.

This is just a partial list.
Rotate every couple of days and the game holds you easily.

Its a game, relax, enjoy it. I do somehow. :) others do. yes.. we are due for this update. It adds more. happy with most of what i see coming. GL

With all due respect, how long have you been playing? Your forum account suggests you might have started recently. Some of us have been playing for years, and while it's true that changing things up + learning keeps the game fresh for some time, after a while the content does become increasingly.... thin. More focus on gameplay would be stellar from my perspective vs features/mechanics mentioned by the OP.

Nope.

What you have is the same 30 or 40 or so disgruntled commanders (non significant) posting the same thing every day. Affectionatley known as the "Elite is Doomed" crowd. They are regulars around here. They are almost like part of the furniture. Very easy to spot. No harm done though, after all, its not like F.D doesnt listen to constructive feedback. Its just a pitty its rarley that , or the OP is so offensive/condecending in their feedback it negates any possible way to take it on board, even if there is a point buried beneath the venom.

A "FEW"... **ahem***

(not my post BTW...)

The way I see the whole thing is:
1) They could add explorer missions - fly to x system and to a detailed survey of ALL of the things there.

2) Pirates could give missions like assassinations you find the target and steal the cargo returning it to the mission giver.

3) Aquire missions - like FFE you could dock and get the item and have to take it to x system whilst being hunted.

4) Hunter - find pirates doing x mission

5) Escorts - wing up with x ship and keep it safe

6) Salvage missions to get x item for a system

I thought of a similar idea. Missions could be introduced in which you are loaned the ship to complete it. Obviously you can't sell or make any modifications to the ship, and it is specifically for the mission. If you lose the ship during the mission, you are fined (but much less than the insurance would be). The missions would also have to be quite short, to prevent pilots simply taking such a mission and then using the ship for nefarious purposes. Mission failure would also affect the pilot's reputation (i.e. if you trash an Anaconda, you're going to have to wait a very long time before anyone will let you fly one again for a mission).

I have flown the big ships in the beta. And I agree that once you have, you wonder why anyone is worried about how quickly they can get one... I'll stick to my Python and AspX, thanks. Oh, and the new Dolphin that I'm playing around with at the moment. :)

LOL..

Impressive and they have not deleted or closed the topic(reddit), which is even more surprising.

White knights are trying to fight it as best as they can...when i posted it it was 90% approval , now it's 70%.. someone is actually trying to mask it somehow!

It's always like this, but finally the release of this latest update is serving to show how things works

And you have the same number of "its all amazing, theres nothing wrong with Elite Dangerous, its great, keep feeding us anything you want and we will love it" crowd.

I guess its a matter of opinion!

and u r us always r on ur dream state false argument

What?! Please rephrase that.

I don't mind you coming here, the more you post the more the topic stays alive so in the end you are helping me by bashing/attacking me.

BTW , thank you for placing this post on top today. you Replied twice right? Thank you!

See ya!

It's not like any of the people complaining wants the game DEAD, we want it to be BETTER, that's the sole purpose people complain, cause THEY CARE, I never posted on NMS forums or reddit of how utterly they need to work on their game because i never cared for the game!

That's diferent from Elite!
