If you're still having issues with loading, just know that the hard work is ongoing at FD. Each and every ticket is looked over, and each will be dealt with in turn. Keep logging any issues you have, even if you've done it in a previous build - your hardware reports are necessary to getting the game running as smoothly as possible.

I've seen the comments on here about server issues and I've passed that on to the leads - it's all part of the process.

The galaxy map now loads (consistently and reliably) in a split-second for me rather than the 20-30 seconds it has always taken since pb. No difference to the sporadic entering/exiting hyperspace hangs, but progress is progress, and I like your quote above as it's very apt. Keep up the good work and long hours FDEV, and remember "it's all part of the process." :D

Played for the first time since the server update tonight, and it's not good. Multiple CTD and freezes. Most notably when exiting SC and also when using the docking computer to dock.

Also got a weird bug where when I am docked, I get a view like I'm floating inside the station (not on the pad), or I can see part of the station, nor no station at all.

All ticketed.

It's making completing missions and playing/testing a bit of hard work TBH.

I too have had very similar problems. Now, I am outside of a dock and cant move anywhere. Its like its frozen except the station is still a spinning and my ship indicator just to the right of the radar/proximity thing shows my ship yawing and rolling and such. Its not working:(
 
Every time I exit SC at starports, I get stuck for 5+ mins. This is only an issue for me on Open Play - in Solo mode the ship drops to normal space in 4-5 seconds as it should.

Currently, what's most problematic for me are connectivity issues with Starport services. Nine out of ten times, I get timeouts when trying to buy/sell commodities in any market or accept/complete missions. It's pretty difficult to play the game at the moment.

I've opened tickets for all of the above.
 
Yep, similar stuff for me. Scanning a new system doesn't recognize the body being scanned and stellar cartography option at a starport just hangs. Oh well, at least I can get some flying practice in and some BB missions.

Yep same here can't scan planets anymore, after scan it still stays unknown that was yesterday. Today can't even start the game just the spinning ship load screen was hoping for a weekend of ED fun but now disappointed :(
 
I'm not really having any of the lag issues or major disconnects you guys are having. (maybe one or two a week, really low. I don't play all hours but I can play solidly for 3 hours without one). I am also not getting spinning sidewinder or unable to connect to server issues since the mtu fix back in beta 2.03 or 2.04 (can't remember which).

I am not posting to gloat but to share that I am in Australia and play on the other side of the clock. There are a fair few less of us over here. I assume therefore that a lot of the issues are server load related. Maybe those having major issue try playing off peak times in europe to to see if you are still suffering the problem. Might help isolate it to being either a pure server issue or a client side issue talking to the server.
 
I discovered earlier after dying that i could access universal cartographics again...that is until i discovered some objects and scanned others. It seems that it only works if i have no data to sell.

Also, i am able to scan stars, planets and moons and they won't remain unknown but i had the problem with the object remaining unknown when beta 2 launched and at the time i had a surface scanner on a sidey (which i haven't found since for a cobra)...don't know if that was the reason.

Having very few problems, except for scanning resulting in unknown all the time, and newly disciovered objects not showing in left panel. Thanks for all the hard work!
 
As of the 10/10/2014 so called "server side" update, I amongst many others are now all of sudden stuck on the spinning Sidewinder loading screen. Thanks FD...
 
Just some data for the devs.

2.05 felt as an improvement loading wise, a lot quicker into game, maps and SC. I could play it flawlessly after it updated.

However since friday/thursday evening I can no longer start due to the infinite sidewinder.

here's a sequence of events

I died in Hepa resource site, I force quit the game after insurance screen.

I started playing a while later, found that I had not been reset inside a station, but inside resource exraction site.. Which is weird right?

played for a bit, quit normally..

Started again, then infinite sidey sceen on both open en solo, re installed game and still stuck..

did not reset save though,,


hope this helps...

I'm inclined to agree with you re: server load/capacity problems. Like yourself, when I play late arvo/early evening our time (when less people on the other side of the world are playing), I can access the game fine/relatively quickly most of the time.

When I try to play late PM/early AM our time (when more people on the other side of the world are playing), even when it's going well it takes me 10-15 minutes & a number of task manager kills to get going mostly (on rare occasions it's first or second try), and can take a lot longer than that (have given up several times over the past week or so having tried to access online for several hours/dozens of times with no joy).

This smells a lot like capacity problems. I've also got a sneaking suspicion it might be down to different servers either not communicating well or 'handing off' properly I.E authentication server does its thing, tells whichever server up the line that determines what game server people go to/hands off to same 'I've authenticated this player, he wants to play solo/open, send him wherever (whichever game server) you need to send him' or something along those lines & this server then isn't handing off properly to a game server.

I thought updates a few days back fixed things for me, but the past two days it's as bad as it was this time last week.
 
Yup. All was fine for me until the server changes. Now exiting SC is a gamble, as is outfitting. Cartographics never works although it times out after a minute or so. Outfitting failed for me just then, but with no timeout. The spinning sidey is also proving popular on my machine :D
 
They need to put servers back to how they were pre the supposed fix late Thursday and try again.

That way at least people can get in and play as they had been prior to fix that caused more issues than it fixed.

Normal procedure is to go back to known code if fix did not work or caused more issues.
 
Testing finished for this morning.

I read a hint that the blank missions page was due to being out toward the far side of the Pill from the core systems. (which I had been experiencing near Perendi)

So I drove back close the Core systems next to Pi Phang and Naraka. There were missions on the board but you could not get connection to take them.

All the other problems still persisted at that location: no buy/sell commodities and no connection for cartigraphics.

Flying and doing other things seem to work OK for me. I have not tried to buy/sell equipment or a ship so I know not if there are problems there.

I tried to get to Perendi and beyond. But since my Cobra did not have the jump distance I was trying to find a round-about way there but fuel costs were eating away my meager credit balance. Since I was running out of money I abandoned that expedition ... to ... see above.

FYI I'm in US and I think my server's last three digits are 364.

(been a very disappointing weekend for ED flying ... If I can't make money I can't play much longer ... I had hoped to upgrade the Cobra ... now I'm thinking of selling it for a Sidey and upgrade it as much as I can for longer jumps)

Its bizarre to me that Patch 2.05 would lead to some having improved loading, and my game taking 9 times longer to load.

I have never, in all the builds since mid Alpha, had to wait more than 3 seconds from hitting Play to the ED logo appearing. Then 2.05 comes and it takes 20 seconds.

The server update seemed to break the Cartographics in stations to the point where I have stopped the exploration side of testing as I cant get the info of selling opportunities I wanted to test.

Also even scanning bodies is hit and miss if it updates properly.

So meh, going backwards for me, hopefully will go back to how it was.
 
yup just cant find a station with the correct stuff for sale, all stations have the exact same inventory so trading is impossible, and my cobra is on basic weapons so i cant afford the upgrades, this means i will most likely have to go back to the hauler as the cobra fuel costs are high :(
